Callan Mulvey Talks 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE And CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER

Rising Australian actor Callan Mulvey talks about his preparation for WB's 300: Rise of an Empire and Marvel's Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Is his Marvel role one and done, or is he appearing in other projects like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.?

A while back, I posted a theory that Captain America: The Winter Soldier is greatly influenced by a 1988 six issue miniseries, Nick Fury vs S.H.I.E.L.D., written by Bob Harras and Paul Neary. To sum up a long story, S.H.I.E.L.D. is infiltrated by an outside, malevolent force that corrupts its policies and practices in such a covert manner that only Nick Fury realizes what is happening. We don't know for sure yet, but it appears that something of that ilk may be happening on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and in the Russo Bros.' Captain America sequel. Clevver Movies spoke to Mulvey about his Marvel role (he plays Jack Rollins, a central S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent in the 1998 comic book story), as well as his role in 300: Rise of an Empire.

Mulvey's career is definitely trending in the right direction. After a breakout role in Zero Dark Thirty, he's starred in 300: Rise of an Empire, filmed a key supporting role in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and is rumored to be up for a role in Zack Snyder's Batman vs Superman. I'd say things are definitely looking up for the 39-year-old Australian.

Agreed. Regardless of how well Eisenberg's Lex comes out, it will very likely not be what I was looking forward to. No matter how good it gets, on some level, it will be a disappointment; it reminds me of X-Men in that way. Mulvey would have been a great physical presence for the Lex I envisioned.

That Nick Fury Versus SHIELD story was somethin' ,all right. In the story-spoilers-SHIELD is infiltrated by LMDs who have gained sentience and replaced many characters, including Jimmy Woo and Clay Quartermain, with dopplegangers, forcing Fury to go on the run from his own agency. It'll make your head spin....

I think when they ask him about AOS he says yes right away - realizes immediately and explains to cover it up. Felt like he was covering up an answer

I would not have mind if this guy was Lex.

I also would not have mmind if he where Parasite or Metallo.

Batman vs Superman sure has wasted there opportunity.

Captain America The Winter Soldier should be spectacular and i'm really looking forward to it.

I believe the terrorist organization that is infiltrating S.H.I.E.L.D. is HYDRA.

I'm ruling out the The Ten Rings because they're probably being saved for future Iron Man movies.

The way the bad guys operate in CA:TWS screams HYDRA. Also, HYDRA plays a big role in TA:AOU which CA:TWS leads into.

bro, Born in New Zealand means you have a kiwi passport and birth cert. hence your a kiwi. I am from England but live in New Zealand. If i made a big life success in something i would never say i were a kiwi, and know the kiwi culture im sure Callan would call himself a kiwi.
