Kevin Feige Says CAPTAIN MARVEL Is About To Lead The Entire Marvel Cinematic Universe

Marvel Studios is exercising incredible caution in terms of what is and isn't revealed concerning the fates of Chris Evans' Captain America and Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame.

Will Captain Marvel films become the focal point of the MCU? Or is it the character's role in the conflict between the Kree and the Skrull that will prove central to where the Marvel Cinematic Universe heads after Avengers: Endgame?

A quote from Kevin Feige in the Captain Marvel: The Official Movie Special recalls the moment Brie Larson was revealed at Comic-Con 2016 and how her position at the center of the on-stage group photo was indicative of things to come.

When we found out that Brie Larson might be interested in joining our world, we had a number of meetings. She was a huge fan of the character in the comics. One of the highlights of my career at Marvel was introducing her at Comic-Con and having her come out on stage and stand there with literally almost everybody else from our movies. There she was at the forefront, and it was a great foreshadowing – not just for how audiences are going to embrace Brie as this character, but also for how Captain Marvel is about to take the lead and be at the forefront of the entire Cinematic Universe.

Feige has been quick to dismiss any notion that the depiction of the Skrulls in Captain Marvel prevents the MCU from ever doing their own version of Secret Invasion. Do you think all the secrecy around Endgame is due to the fact that one of the Avengers will be revealed as Skrull by the time the credits roll? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.

Ugh.....in that case I really hope the Russo's improve on her.

Or the directors of the next Captain Marvel film elevate her material/character in the same way as Winter Soldier and Ragnarok did.

@MrDandy - yup, I keep saying they need to Winter Soldier her sequel, in terms of quality of the film and impact on the MCU (introducing Secret Invasion). A lot of people around here forget that Captain America wasn't fully embraced as the face of the MCU until essentially Winter Soldier.

@HeavyMetal4Life - I consider First Avenger one of the most underrated MCU films that brilliantly established the character and set up his arc....but that being said Winter Soldier and Civil War were on a whole different level in terms of complex characterization and story.

@MrDandy - don't get me wrong, I love First Avenger and yes, I agree with all you said. But I see a lot of people around here (looks at comments section...) freaking out over Captain Marvel taking the lead post Endgame (something we all knew but some clearly wiped their brain) and claiming falsely that a) she was wooden and can't act, and b) her sequel can't be better than the first.

Winter Soldier her sequel. Nuff said.

@HeavyMetal4Life - I agree with both of you. Captain Marvel 2 needs to be a game changer like Winter Soldier and Ragnarok was.

@NegativeNerd - exactly!

- Winter Soldier, you've got SHIELD being taken down and a new bar being set for the quality of an MCU film
- Ragnarok, you have Asgard getting destroyed and the 9 realms no longer under protection, allowing Thanos to invade
- Captain Marvel 2, you have the revelation of a Secret Invasion being planned/being launched

Looks like Marvel just loves burning bridges with its fanbase. I think I'm done after endgame.

And for the record: I like Captain Marvel, but we all know how the internet is going to react to this.

@Mrcool210 - You're so right about this! Some people are going to flip shit over this, even though out of all the new heroes she makes the most sense.
Spiderman - He's 16
Dr Strange - His priority is mystical stuff
Black Panther - Is still the King of Wakanda, and that comes first
Ant-Man - Not the leader type
Wasp - Is very new

Captain Marvel is the only one who can do this full time and is qualified
