Marvel Studios released the first teaser trailer for The Marvels yesterday, and the footage was accompanied by Beastie Boys classic, "Intergalactic."

A suitably catchy, fun tune for a space-set adventure, for sure, but some seem to be under the impression that this particular song was chosen for another, very specific reason.

The first appearance of Brie Larson's Carol Danvers in the trailer synchs-up with the opening lines of Intergalactic, "Bam, now, don't you tell me to smile." As you may recall, Larson was targetted by online trolls around the time of Captain Marvel's release for looking too serious in the posters and stills, and encouraged to "smile more."

Is this a total coincidence, or is the teaser not-so subtly hitting back at Larson's detractors? Have another look at the trailer below, and be sure to let us know what you think in the comments.

The sequel's synopsis reads: Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as “The Marvels.”

The film stars Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, Iman Vellani, Samuel L. Jackson, Zawe Ashton and Park Seo-joon. Nia DaCosta directs, and Kevin Feige is the producer. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Mary Livanos and Matthew Jenkins serve as executive producers. The screenplay is by Megan McDonnell, Nia DaCosta, Elissa Karasik and Zeb Wells.

The Marvels hits U.S. theaters on November 10.

@FilmGuy7878 - Not necessarily true. There's merit to this. It's regarding women finding it obnoxious when men tell them to smile. It was even referenced before in Captain Marvel with this scene.

@Tonic24k - Oh yeah. I forgot about that. Like I basically forgot about the entire movie lol.

I mean, to be fair... She does have an ELITE smile.

Also, the notion that someone not being a fan of her (like me) is automatically misogyny is ridiculous lol.

@KWilly - yeah, honestly I think it was just chosen because it's, you know, intergalactic?

But I also haven't heard this as something the anti sjw crowd say. In fact, I've only heard it from here, where they clearly aren't siding with the anti sjw crowd.

@KWilly - Not liking Brie is fine. Not liking Brie because of not understanding her infamous rant is another. People, to this day, try to drag her name thru the mud because of it. And often times, those people turn it into various forms of misogyny.

And yes, she does have a great smile.
