Based on previous reports and what we've seen in the trailers, The Marvels appears to be a relatively standalone story focusing on the three cosmically-powered heroes joining forces to combat a larger threat, but that threat may hold (literally) bigger ramifications for the MCU's future than we first realized.

During an interview with Total Film, executive producer Mary Livanos confirmed that the bangle in the villainous Dar-Benn's possession forms a pair with Kamala Khan's, and once combined, unlock a potentially universe Multiverse altering power.

"In Ms. Marvel, we learned that the bangle, paired with some other form of power, can force a temporary hole in space and time to lead to somewhere else," she explains. "With the power of both bangles, more is definitely possible. And we see the culmination of that over the course of this movie. It definitely leads to plentiful opportunities for the future of the MCU, whatever the Avengers and Secret Wars teams may want to do with them."

Could The Marvels directly lay the groundwork for the Multiversal events of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars?

"The plot deals with some fluctuations in time and space, and there's definite danger afoot that could affect the multiverse". She continues, "Where it all leads is a bit of a spoiler, and exactly how it'll all pan out in an Avengers movie is currently being figured out right now. But we're definitely ending our characters in places that allow for plentiful opportunity."

As for director Nia DaCosta, while she has some ideas about what comes next, she's not sure exactly what Kevin Feige and co. have in store (or if she does, she's not saying).

"That's a question for [Marvel boss] Kevin Feige," said the filmmaker. "I have lots of thoughts. But I actually have no idea what they're going to do in the Avengers movies. I do know that those guys who are doing that watch the films, see what we're doing. I have things I really want [to happen]. But I'm not sure."

"In Marvel Studios’ The Marvels, Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as The Marvels.”

The film also stars Teyonah Parris, Iman Vellani, Samuel L. Jackson, Zawe Ashton and Park Seo-joon. Nia DaCosta directs, and Kevin Feige is the producer. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Mary Livanos and Matthew Jenkins serve as executive producers. The screenplay is by Megan McDonnell, Nia DaCosta, Elissa Karasik and Zeb Wells.

The Marvels hits U.S. theaters on November 10th, 2023.

Yeah, they knew the main reason captain marvel got the money it did was because of the context for endgame.

@Origame - Should've been an Adam Warlock movie in between endgame and infinity war.

@Chaos200 - that would've been awesome.

@Origame - that movie is like watching paint dry (CM). They’ve started to figure out that at this point we need team ups (that’s what marvel is all about on the page) but they’re not making great selections. Strange and Pete is pretty classic actually…. But yeah

Not of it was the Adam Warlock from GotG III.

Sounds like utter garbage to me and these throwaway comments are designed to hook the hardened fans into going paying to see this in the vain hope it’s good and links into the next great Avengers movie. Don’t be fooled, it’s going to be a Disney style teen flick with loads of “wacky” moments….

@Spike101 - I mean wacky is fine. Ragnarok was pretty good and I never dug Thor in the books but they teamed him up with a great version of Hulk. I just don’t care about any of the characters in the Marvels really. I’ve never been like “oh I need to pick up this Carol Danvers run” at a comic store lol. And then you team her up with photon (nobody cares) and Kamala who’s fun but.. meh

@SDCA27 - absolutely agree. I’d like see another Winter Soldier or Guardians 1 quality movie. A bit darker and more serious, that’s big to say humour has no place in the MCU but it needs using carefully and with the right characters like Spider-Man and Johnny Storm who were always wise guys.

I kinda just want the whole Multiverse thing to wrap up so we can move on to something else. Variants, etc just seems to be everywhere and it all feels disjointed. Infinity saga was organized and compelling.

@CplHicks - Seemed inevitable that there'd be some nostalgia bait shenanigans when Disney acquired Fox, but I agree, they are stretching this out for FAR too long. Should have been a year's worth of concentrated storytelling, two tops, but to stretch it out six years (or longer, depending on how the strikes shake out) is just too much of a good thing.

It's sad how when anything that has a winning streak whether its a celebrity or industry or whatever suddenly has a bad moment or just doesn't win as they used to and you guys are ready to jump ship or knock it down. The crabs in the bucket mentality is bad. Either there are those who are on the bandwagon or those who truly supports the movement. First its DC and yall tore that down and even said Marvel can't do no wrong. Now that Marvel maybe struggling in reviews cause they are not struggling in sales because you still go out to see it, some of you just got to trash it like they never gave you some of the best movies of all time. You bandwagan fans are complainers and whiners who when they don't get what they want act up like kids. If and when Marvel do get their stride back I can't wait to see some you very same people be back on their team like nothing happened. #ungratefulfans
