UPDATE: If you're inclined to tweet or facebook, tag me: Twitter and Facebook.

Hey everyone, it's been a while since I checked in during my Kickstarter campaign. A lot has happened since then: the project funded successfully, I printed the book, shipped it all around the world to backers that supported it with pledges, and now it's poised to launch in comic book shops across the U.S. in September.

How can you support it? Glad you asked! You can ask your local comic shop to order it for you with Diamond Comics Distributors order # JUL141266. The book is a beautifully laminated hardcover, 144 pages, in full color and sells for $19.99. It will also be available in digital format at ComiXology.com and ComicsFix.com.

Here is a 30-second teaser video to whet your appetite, the cover image by Paul Gulacy (Crimson Empire) and Rain Beredo (The Star Wars), and a few paragraphs from my official press release:

Read the only graphic novel catalogued in the hallowed halls of the Vatican Archives
CruZader™: Agent of the Vatican – available nationwide this September

OAKLAND – A new graphic novel chronicling the clandestine adventures of CruZader™: Agent of the Vatican, from creator and publisher Omar Morales, will be available nationwide following a successful, international crowdfunding campaign.

Until now, the only people who have had access to the book are Pope Francis, comic book podcasters, reviewers, and people that pledged support via Kickstarter.com. The independent publisher is now offering his original graphic novel in both print and digital formats.

The legend of CruZader revolves around the monk-like Antonio De La Cruz, a reluctant priest who is retrained as a holy hitman for the Pope. De La Cruz must embrace his destiny in order to defend the Vatican from an invading army of radical terrorists who are much more than what they appear.

“What drives this action-adventure tale is the inner conflict that Antonio suffers as a result of the violent duties he carries out on behalf of the Vatican,” Morales said. “There is a ton of strain and tension in Antonio’s relationship with the Pope, and he keeps a very explosive secret from the Pontiff, which adds to the intrigue and payoff of this origin story arc.”

TAGLINE: Aliens. Prophecies. Sinners & Saints.

Ahh yes, finally, it worked. Darn YouTube always takes out the http: so that did the trick.

Anyway, not anime inspired - 13 years of Catholic school inspired!

Thanks batz11 for the tutorial link!

Werd, McGee. I do feel like a huge underdog, man. This book took me many years to put together and a lot of people would've quit along the way. I had to sue a guy, fire a few freelancers, start an sole proprietor LLC, get all my trademarks and copyrights in order and on and on and on ...

I'm stoked listening to Rocky right now!

This looks awesome! I will definitely check this out.

@CapWriter Wow... sorry you had to deal with all that, but you look at what you accomplished. You didn't let anything stand in the way of your dream. I greatly admire that.

Btw, congrats on finishing your graphic novel! You should be proud of yourself. :)

@dio This was on main before, but it was taken down... This deserves to be on the front page.

I guess one of the editors felt it didn't belong on main... I have no idea why they would feel that way though.

How is it that articles that have a few thumbs up make it to main but this article that is already at fifteen thumbs isn't?

CapWriter - 6/28/2014, 11:40 PM
Thanks for the kind words, dudes (I assume you're all dudes, haha!).

I'm not too worried about the main front page thing right now, as last time I posted during the Kickstarter campaign, I started out on the news page at first, then got bumped up to the main page on the strength of all the thumbs and comments.

It's late at night on Saturday, tomorrow is a new day and I'm hoping for more exposure. Thanks for all of your enthusiasm.

No problem. I'm pretty sure everyone that has commented so far are dudes...

Well, maybe I'm not best person to listen to on that subject lol. There was a couple of occasions when I was doing online gaming, where I accidentally flirted with guys who I thought were girls... In my defense, they had feminine usernames.

@mgeoff88 I didn't know The Crying Game had online multiplayer.. :)

mgeoff88 - 6/29/2014, 12:37 AM
@Floke LOL! I gotta give you that one. I was pretty embarrassed when it happened. Talk about awkward.

Thankfully, I've never had an experience where I was talking to a girl online for a long time, and then I found out there a guy.

When you have been around, it's pretty easy to tell the sketchy people between the legit people.

That's something actually, you mentioned there that the Pope has had access to the graphic novel. Did you have to get his approval of the book before you published it, or did you more-so want his approval of the book?
CapWriter
CapWriter - 6/29/2014, 8:11 AM
@Floke @mgeoff88: that Crying Game joke was hilarious!

@JediPhilosopher & @NovaCorpsFan: I don't know that the Pope has read it, but he he certainly has a copy. I was not seeking his approval or his endorsement, it was more covering myself to say "here it is, you get to see it first" and because I got no objection, I feel like I did my diligence and was up front about my intentions. Did the same thing with a few prominent bishops here in the U.S. and same thing: no objections (and 1 thank you note).

With all that said, it is promotion time like crazy for the next 30 days! The solicitation window for shops to order closes at the end of July.

ALSO: I don't know how to get ahold of the people that run this site, maybe you guys can help me with that. I'm more than happy to give back to the CBM community with some swag for a giveaway. I can put together a few prize packs for 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place ... or three equal prize packs, whatever.

I see that they do giveaways here and I'm totally down.

Thanks @MightyZeus! The trick is getting comic book stores intrigued enough to order it in July for a September release. I can't say it enough: Diamond order # JUL141266.
