OAKLAND – Move over Gene Simmons and KISS®, there is a new Guinness World Records™ breaker in the category of Largest Comic Book Published, and it is Omar Morales and his original adventure story about a holy hitman for the Vatican.

The first chapter of a soon-to-be released graphic novel, CruZader™: Agent of the Vatican, was printed in a giant-size format by Morales – and it crushed the previous record set by KISS 4K #1 Destroyer Edition. The jumbo size excerpt of CruZader measured in at 37.19” x 24” at the Fremont Main Library on August 30, 2014, as witnessed by the library manager, a civil architect, and a lawyer. Guinness granted the new record title to Morales on September 11, 2014 and delivered this official certificate in the days that followed.

Guinness World Record Certificate for Largest Comic Book Published

“This is easily the most exciting thing I’ve done as a new, independent comics publisher,” Morales said. “To experience 28, full-color pages of CruZader in that scale is awe inspiring – and fans that have seen it at comic book conventions flock to its dramatic enormity.”

Morales will tour the record-breaking comic book at select comic book shops the same day that the normal size, graphic novel version of CruZader releases in the USA and UK on September 24th. Copies of the large format are available for sale at comic shop and convention appearances, as listed below.

The tour schedule for the record-breaking behemoth book on September 24th is as follows:

•             Comic Ink                           10:00 am – 1:00 pm         7980 Amador Valley Blvd, Dublin, CA
•             Crush Comics                     1:30 pm – 3:30 pm           2869 Castro Valley Blvd, Castro Valley, CA
•             Treasure Island                 4:00 pm – 6:30 pm           5018 Mowry Ave, Fremont, CA
•             The Secret Stash              11:00 am – 6:00 pm         35 Broad St, Red Bank, NJ

The record-holder comic book will also be on tour at the following comic book conventions:

•             Alternative Press Expo    October 4th                        Fort Mason Center, San Francisco, CA
•             Latino Comics Expo          October 11th, 12th            San Jose State Library, San Jose, CA
•             ZappCon                             October 18th                       Valdez Hall, Fresno, CA

The legend of CruZader revolves around the monk-like Antonio De La Cruz, a reluctant exorcist who is retrained as a holy hitman for the Pope. De La Cruz must embrace his destiny in the face of a cryptic, apocalyptic prophecy in order to save the Vatican from annihilation. The 144-page, full color graphic novel is now available via:

•             Independent comic book retailers (Diamond Comics Distributors order code: JUL141266)
•             Digital distribution at www.ComiXology.com and www.ComicsFix.com
•             The Force Media website, offering print copies signed by Morales, at www.TheForceMedia.com

LOGLINE: A reluctant priest is retrained as a Holy Warrior for the Pope; he must embrace his destiny in order to defend the Vatican from an invading army of radical terrorists … who are much more than what they appear.

SYNOPSIS: Antonio is the latest in an unbroken chain of men from the De La Cruz family of Spain to don the cowl of the CruZader, invisible hand of the Pope. Wielding an arsenal of precious relics, including the Spear of Christ, the Holy Grail, and the Rights of Exorcism, Antonio struggles with his archaic and often violent vocation. What he really craves is the freedom to choose his own path – a choice taken away by his very namesake.

TAGLINE: Prophecies. Aliens. Sinners & Saints.

I'm a big KISS fan (obviously from my OompaGene avatar)...but I won the CruZader prize pack from CBM, so I'm happy for Omar and taking the record!

Btw, the graphic novel/comic is awesome!

The book is actually on its way to Jay & Silent Bob's Secret Stash now for display on Wednesday. It'll be there for a while, till they don't want it anymore, so who knows, it may show up in the background of the TV show at some point.

I'm supposed to be talking to Mike & Ming on their I SELL COMICS podcast to talk about all this soon, so we'll see ...

@batz11, Best review I've had so far:

http://www.indiealtrepeat.com/2014/07/review-cruzader-graphic-novel-omar-morales/

"If this was a video game, I would play it. If this was a movie, I’d see it in IMAX 3D. I’ve no doubt that Omar Morales and the team will take this story and these characters as far as they can, so who knows – maybe one day I’ll get to play Cruzader: The Video Game, or see Hollywood’s take on Antonio’s journey. For now I’ll be satisfied with adding this to my Comic Book shelves." - Matt Lune

F that, steal from it, embellish it, and make it your own! The HBO or AMC mini series idea is unique to you, my friend. Go with it. :)

batz11 - 9/22/2014, 7:27 PM
Yep, I will...the story was so vivid and imaginative, I could see it play out like a movie in my head...oooh, that was kinda good, I'll have to use it haha...stay tuned...

Thats an awesome review. I will try and make that 06:30 in Fremont. I work in Redwood City and as you probably know traffic is murder in that area. It will be awesome to support your comic book.

Thanks @sKeemAn, I really appreciate your consideration. If you miss me that day, just hook up with me wherever on social media: Facebook El CruZader, and Twitter @TheCruZader, and we'll work something out.

The closest shop to you is probably Mission Comics in San Francisco. They carry it right now.
