The Darkness #110

If there's one thing that can be said about the people behind this run, it's that they're hungry to make their tale into something special.  Somehow they've found the right perspective in order to make a more than storied property feel bold, new and fresh.  They've turned this series into the horror it was always meant to be and this latest issue is further proof of that accomplishment.

Glory #32

When a title is in its closing run, closure is everything. You need something dramatic; something that has added weight and adds a sense of tension and emotion that elevates beyond anything you've done before hand. This, to put it simply, is Glory #32. For a title that's full of action and fantastical imagery, there's a very real, humane and emotional aspect to this month's issue. It has plenty of foreshadowing, and gives a real meaning to suspense.

Dark Shadows #13

This ongoing series from Dynamite, for me, has been one of the most pleasantly addicting titles from the publisher's already sterling library.  I honestly didn't know what to expect from it but as it is the adventures involving the residents of Collinwood have been enthralling month in and month out.  I do take some minor solace in once again being able to report that, yes, with this issue officially out this ongoing is still worth a monthly purchase.

Sleepy Hollow #4

The build up in this saga since its very first outing has been at best a slow but entertaining burn. Since the first cover we've all seen the Horseman and as audience members we've been waiting for him to start chopping off heads and going on a bloody rampage seeking nothing short of retribution.  Thankfully that's exactly what happens in this release and the results are absolutely worth your patience.

Spawn #227

The art by Szymon Kudranski is absolutely spectacular.  His use of pencil to create realistic forms layered in darkness instantly sets the right mood as the tale bounces around through some complex conversations.  In an issue where dialogue is paramount, it’s refreshing to see the talent step up to the plate and enhance each line with proper illustrations and exemplary execution.
