The first issue of Geoff Johns and Gary Frank's highly-anticipated series Doomsday Clock will be with us this year November 22, with its finale in December 2018! Doomsday Clock will be a 12 issue run and will jump ahead one year from the current DC Comics timeline in order to give the various other DC series enough time to catch up to the events of the Watchmen/DC crossover.

During today's DC Comics panel at San Diego Comic-Con, writer Geoff Johns described the series as "a story for our time that brings the greatest heroes and villains from the DC Universe together with the mysterious forces from the Watchmen Universe." He then went on to showcase a few inked panels drawn by artist Gary Frank. However, the biggest piece of news from Johns was the teasing of a Watchmen meet up with one of DC's greatest villains.

Johns revealed that Doomsday Clock will have the Watchmen Universe's smartest man, Adrian Veidt, aka Ozymandias, having a face-to-face with DC Comic's smartest man, Lex Luthor. The two greatest minds in comic book history are finally coming together. What does this mean for Doctor Manhattan and Superman? We'll just have to wait and see.

You can check out Gary Frank's panels below. Don't forget to let us know what you think in the usual place!

I'm with it. Let's see if Rorschach kills the Joker.

@WruceBayne - a Bats and Rorschach team-up would be a solid philosophical contrast pairing.

Gary Frank is phenomenal. The greatest working artist right now tied with Frank Quitely for me.

I just want Watchmen comics to be a thing. Not bringing them around for this one event but have them in the DC world.

I guess I'll be reading this although I'm not much of a Watchmen guy really.

I adore everything Watchmen, but I really don't know how I feel about them losing their "stand-alone" status. Definitely will be checking these out, though. I need to catch up.

I'm really looking forward to this. I hope the script is up to the level it needs to be for such a cool concept and making the Watchmen part of the main universe. Could someone point me out to what you consider are the must-read titles to fully understand Doomsday Clock? Besides of course Watchmen, Flashpoint & Rebirth which I already read.

@SwampThing - Besides the arcs you mentioned, you should read the four issues "The Button" the button sroet thst took place in The Flash #21 & #22, and Batman #21 & #22. The two heroes investigate the appearance of thr Comedians button in the batcave from back at the beginning of Rebirth. Got me really itching for Doomsday Clock now.

Fun fact--in my fan-multiverse take on "Crisis", the world of Watchmen's the first one destroyed by the Anti-Monitor. HA-HA!

In a contest of smartest guys in the room--both Luthor and Ozymandias lose to Dogbert. The pooch actually managed to take over the world, but became bored with the ensuing peace that followed.

I've always been quite open to the idea of the Watchmen joining the main DC universe and/or having an ongoing series but I just don't know if the characters really work as an ongoing team. They fit perfectly to tell the story they were created to tell. But I guess we'll see what happens.

This is it.
Give me a masterpiece Geoff, just like Final Crisis, even bigger, the final, the biggest, definitive Superman story!

Geoff Johns hasn't written anything good for quite a few years now. Some fans buy into his hype so incredibly easily.
