If you have been keeping up with Green Lantern, many big things seem to be coming. It has been a great series [and if you are not reading it, you should definitely check it out]. In the latest issues, the untimely deaths of Hal Jordan and Thaal Sinestro come at the hands of the Guardians in Green Lantern Annual #1. The Third Army is rising at the hands of the Guardians. In the #0 issue, released just a little while ago, an Arab-American, Simon Baz, gets a ring after being badgered by government officials thinking he is a terrorist.

But what does all of this mean for the future?--Or else, what do we want this to mean--What do we want to see?

SOMETHING HAPPENED--

This is the [black] flash of hope: At the end of Green Lantern #0, transitioning from the origins of Simon Baz, it shows Hal and Sinestro in a black empty-looking space, dressed in all black, and very much "alive." [This word is thrown around loosely, after their deaths.] The interesting thing is that at the end of Green Lantern #12, Black Hand reads the words of the Book of the Black change from, "Hal Jordan is not your enemy," to "Hal Jordan will be the greatest Black Lantern."

This could quite possibly lead into the transition of a new-look Hal Jordan, being a Black Lantern, finding a way back from the grips of death.

WHAT WE WANT--

It was a teary "exit" for Hal Jordan and his counterpart, Sinestro. Along with him, Geoff Johns did a fantastic job making readers love Sinestro for the awesome that he is.
WHAT DO WE WANT?-- Not for Hal and Sinestro to actually be dead. Everyone knows that any fan cannot just let these two characters go. Johns knew this. So he made a way out for them. Obviously, the Black Lanterns, now have something to do with with Hal and Sinestro. Black Lanterns = bringing people back from the dead = a way out for the two.

"The Rise of the Third Army" story arc (occurring in issues #13-16) has won a lot of hype. The Guardians have put their plan in action to rid the universe of the Green Lantern Corps.
WHAT DO WE WANT?-- What doesn't a Green Lantern fan want from this arc? Hopefully, this story will be an epic story. A clash between the willpower of the Green Lanterns and the evil minds of the Guardians.

A new legacy of a Green Lantern has begun with Simon Baz. His story is unique and the writing does a good job of creating an attachment to him.
WHAT DO WE WANT?-- Simon Baz has all the makings of an awesome hero and a great new Green Lantern. His story paired with "Rise of the Third Army" paired with the writing of Geoff Johns makes for a great character altogether.

WHAT ELSE WOULD BE NICE TO SEE--

Carol Ferris, Hal's current flame, has a ring of her own, but instead of the ring's quality being willpower, it is love. She is a Star Sapphire.
WHAT DO WE WANT?-- Heck, we want to see Carol in action! She goes to chase after the Indigo Tribe [but only on about one page]. And later, when Hal needs her, she is at work and pays no attention to his calling.

Geoff Johns is one of the only writers who can make incredibly smart, misguided, floating blue midgets seem awesome!
WHAT DO WE WANT?-- We want to see someone stick it to the Guardians and their Third Army. Be it Simon Baz at the helm of the attack, or a returning Hal or Sinestro.

The Guardians use the first Green Lantern, encased in an energy pod of sorts [shaped almost like the Green Lantern symbol, too] as a giant battery for their evil plot.
WHAT DO WE WANT?-- We want that guy to get out of there. He screams to be let out and all Green Lanterns here it. Johns has led readers to believe that if and [hopefully] when he gets out, maybe he'll unleash that extremely powerful energy on someone, maybe even the Guardians themselves.

The future looks bright [and somewhat black] for the series "Green Lantern." The series is awesome and many issues have been nothing short of epic. As everyone should, all fans will be looking forward to the future of this series!

Thanks for reading!

Also, I think that the "lost Maltusians/guardians" will have major role by the end of this. It would be more than a little unoriginal if they end up just taking over for the current corrupted Guardians and everything basically ends up the same. But I hope Ganthet can somehow be restored and redeemed. Turning him evil was a great disservice to years of story-building for him.

Also, I can't help but think that Baz is simply a publicity ploy for the time being. I base this on knowing that he will be a part of the New Justice League of America. After The Sinestro Corps War, Blackest Night, and the mess that Brightest Day was, I just genuinely doubt whether or not Geoff Johns(whom I've had such a deep appreciation for) really can't bring himself to take REAL risks. I'm guessing everyone we really care about survives the Third Army and within a year things are back to normal.

@jjk2814,

Yeah thanks man! PPreciate it!

Yeah with characters in any series, DC or Marvel, you kind of have to expect the character coming back after dying. Haha. Like in Marvel they had a story arc called The Death of Captain America and then I remember like a month or so after that finished they had a series called The Captain America: Rebirth. Haha

Yeah I just really love this series and am excited to see Baz and what's going down with Hal and Sinestro. Mostly because Johns has left us in the dark on all of it. haha

I have to say I was really enjoying this book up until the whole black hand arc. At that point I thought Geoff had just kinda bs'd his way through. A lot of other people liked it though so idk. That issue 0 in my opinion revinvigorated the while series. I'm really hoping the first lantern sticks around of he is cool enough and I hope the third army is more than just omacs.

I haven't been reading Green Lantern, or The New 52 period. Has Ion been introduced yet? The First Lantern could be him. Just a bit of uneducated speculation.

@comiccow6

No, Ion has not been introduced. I really strongly doubt the First Green Lantern is Ion. Ion was Kyle Rayner and then later someone else. (btw, Kyle Rayner has a team of multicolored lanterns in Green Lantern New Guardians.) But interesting speculation. Haha

You totally saw his comment, and then went and looked up who the heck Ion was, then responded to him. Haha. I felt it.
