Debuting back in March 2012, Saga has remained one of the top ongoing comic book series for the last 7 years. It's won the Eisner Award for Best Continuing or Limited Series 5 times during that span, but it appears that Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples are already preparing for the series' end.
Speaking to EW to promote the release of a massive new compendium, Saga: Compendium One, Vaughan stated, "I love Fiona’s new cover [for the copendium], and I’m so proud that these first 54 issues and the last seven years of our work together will be available in one gorgeous and affordable package that you can either binge over a single long vacation, or slowly savor until our series returns. And Fiona and I are excited to finally share with everyone that this compendium represents the first half of our story, a planned 108-issue epic!"
Previously, BKV touched on the chances of Saga ever making the jump to TV or film. "Maybe when the story is finished? I think Fiona and I are both open to Saga possibly being translated into another medium someday, and we’ve gotten a lot of very flattering offers, but for the moment, we’re just concentrating on trying to make the greatest comic book we can."
Thor: Ragnarok actress Tessa Thompson has expressed interest in portraying Alana in a potential film.
Saga: Compendium One will hit retailer shelves on October 16.
