As of late Image Comics has been announcing adaptations, lifting properties from the page and onto the screen, with the latest before today being a Gideon Falls live-action television interpretation.
It seems as though another one is in the works, this time in the form of Skyward, whose film rights were recently purchased by Sony. Rampage director Brad Peyton is on board to helm the film, which takes place in a unique low-gravity setting. Co-creator of the comic and Lucifer showrunner, Joe Henderson, will develop the screenplay for his work.
The synopsis and outline of the film, Variety reports, follows a female lead, who has grown up in the low-gravity landscape, as she encounters a scheme to make gravity a reality again.
Speaking to Variety, this is what director Brad Peyton had to say on his involvement in the film:
Jeff and I are focused on making event films — regardless of budget or scope. Skyward is a big one. We’re very excited to deliver on what an anti-gravity movie should deliver on and be working with Joe Henderson on this.
