Avengers Now Ranks Number 4 at the Alltime Wordwide Box Office

Yes, you read it right. Most may think this would have been only a matter of time. But now it in fact happened. Avengers now ranks number 4 in the alltime wordwide box office. But this news comes with a huge surprise. Click for details.

Many of you might have thought the headline addressed this year's Avengers: Age of Ultron. But, sorry, you were wrong.

Avengers with a current worldwide gross of 1.368 million US-Dollar Age of Ultron still is number five in the alltime list, right behind ...  Marvel's The Avengers. When in 2012 the The Avengers closed at 1.519 million it was the third most successful movie in cinema's history, being only the third movie to cross the mark of 1.5 billion. But now - way sooner than most might have thought - it dropped to number 4 as it was surpassed by Furious 7, which now holds 1.520 million. This makes Furious 7 second most successful 2D movie, only behind James Cameron's Titanic, which made 1.843 million US-Dollars at its original 2D run back in 1997.

There you got it. First Furious 7 (17 days) broke Avatar's (19 days) record of fastest movie to cross a billion US-Dollars, now it made the bronze medal in the alltime box office list. While Avengers: Age of Ultron sure did (and still does) well at the box office many thought it should beat its predecessor, which by now seems very unlikely. As Jurassic World currently shatters many other of The Avengers' records and Age of Ultron not performing as record breaking great as many expected, what does this mean for CBM? Does this mean they have already exceeded their zenith?

With Jurassic World standing at incredible 999 million after only 11 days in release and the for decades anticipated Star Wars Episode 7 opening later this year, do you think Marvel's The Avengers will drop even further during the year? Will Age of Ultron still top its predecessor?

Be sure to share your thought at the usual place.

All of those films in the top ten are cornball flicks anyway.

Jurassic world has a good chance of knocking Avengers down further to fifth and Star Wars 7 is certainly going to be in the billion dollar club later this year.

"Does this mean they have already exceeded their zenith?"

Nope.

IF that happens it will be with BvS... or maybe Justice League.

@KingJames

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King is the only great movie in this top 10.

I agree don't care how many billions they make as long as they're profitable and they keep being made.

The over-saturation, while it's good for us geeks, may become an issue for the GA.

I have only seen the First Fast and the Furious and the 2Fast2Furious hated the first one but the second was okay.

After watching Vin Diesel in Pitch Black as a Badass then turning into a street racer just felt lukewarm and felt more like watching a tweeny movie.

Geez, that top ten really is quite abysmal.

Lord of the Rings Return of the King should be higher!

I like 4 of the Top Ten. Avengers 1 & 2, LOTR and Titanic.

Weird how movies like Transformers can get so much money when the audience reviews are abysmal

I don't understand all the hate for Avatar? It can't be a piece of shit if it got nominated for 9 Academy Awards. It was even nominated for best picture and best director. The Dark Knight didn't get that and it's the best movie in the worldz.

Then again Man of Steel is a masterpiece in this site.

This was wholly unexpected, and I really don't know how to feel about this. I didn't watch Jurassic World, but I hope it deserves all that cash.

FF movies are just... well. terrible. The are about in the same class as the Transformers movies, yet Furios 7 was able to pull off 1.5 billion. Lesson: Breaking a billion dollars does not make a good movie.

@AwesomeSauce, I truly believe that Man of Steel had serious problems, and it certainly has been outclassed by many other Super Hero movie. That being said, MOS of leaps and bounds ahead of Furious 7.

I think that by 2018, Marvel and DC are going to have a terrible time trying to break 1 billion dollars with their movies. As much as I love comic book movies, even I'm starting to feel a bit fatigued.

I know, right?! -That was a gorgeous film with such cool concepts. I'm sure the follow ups'll make up for any lack of plot-originality that ticked off the haters.

look at all the marvel fanboys mad because they got beaten by a movie about cars

@AwesomeSauce,

The problem with Avatar was that the story was entirely unoriginal (it was just a remake of Fern Gully and Dances with Wolves) and the characters were all one-dimensional. I was aware of this immediately after I saw the film, and needed no internet voices to convince me of this.

@ChrisEl exactly. Avatar banked as the first film in 3D. It was a gimmick. I don't see the four planned sequels getting nearly as high numbers. Very mediocre film IMO

That movie cannot come soon enough. I love Cap, I love Marvel films, and I can't wait to see Cap punch Tony in is smug face. :)
