THE ACOLYTE's Credits Include Another Nod To STAR WARS Sequel's [SPOILER] As New Theory Points To EU Link

Stick around during the credits of today's The Acolyte and there's yet another link to Kylo Ren which, if you missed it, you can hear here. That mysterious planet may also be tied to the Expanded Universe!

In the closing moments of last week's episode of The Acolyte, The Stranger approached a downed Osha as Kylo Ren's familiar theme could be heard playing subtly in the background.

That's led to speculation about the Sith villain possibly being the founder of the Knights of Ren, and if you stick around through the credits of today's "Teach/Corrupt," Ben Solo's theme is hard to miss around the 35:40 mark. It's an obvious nod to the future Supreme Leader of the First Order and there must be a reason for its inclusion.

If The Stranger isn't the founder of the Knights of Ren, then perhaps the "Power of Two" he's searching for has something to do with a Force Dyad? (which Rey and Ben are in the future).

Whatever the case may be, when The Acolyte showrunner Leslye Headland was recently asked about the theme's inclusion, she responded, "Ah, wish I could [tell you]. It is there on purpose, but I can’t tell you why, and I can’t go into what it is. But you shall see."

Star Wars fans have also been quick to compare the unnamed planet The Stranger takes refuge on to Ahch-To. That was where Luke Skywalker went into hiding during the sequel trilogy and happens to be the birthplace of the Jedi Order.

However, seeing as Cortosis runs through the planet, we believe this is actually Bal'demnic.

The planet was largely ignored until knowledge of the planet's rich deposits of Cortosis ore fell into the hands of Sith Lords Darth Tenebrous and Darth Plagueis. The latter killed his Master there and proceeded to mine the precious material until his death at Palpatine's hands.

That's all Expanded Universe content, of course, but it may offer some clues about what's to come and exactly how The Stranger fits into the wider Star Wars franchise and lineage of the Sith. We're hoping for answers, anyway, as it would be a shame for The Acolyte to leave us hanging.

In The Acolyte, an investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee Jung-jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg). As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems...

The series stars Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, and Carrie-Anne Moss.

The next Star Wars TV series comes from creator and showrunner Leslye Headland (Russian Doll), who also serves as executive producer alongside Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King, and Jason Micallef. Charmaine DeGraté and Kor Adana are the co-executive producers, and Rayne Roberts and Damian Anderson are producing.

Six episodes of The Acolyte are now streaming on Disney+.

That’s Ahch-To. That’s why they’re being secretive about it, but it looks exactly the same.

@philinterrupted - maybe finally they aren't treating a full planet as one biome. We don't have Puffins everywhere on Earth either

@bkmeijer1 - maybe, but do you think Star Wars is going to start being realistic now?

@FireandBlood - to the layman. It's confirmed to not be Ahch-To by Headland. It's clearly Bal'demnic, which was featured on the original clone wars show. It has rich deposits of Cortosis, and is where Darth Tenebrous and Darth Plagueis sourced the material for their using. You kids claim to be "real fans".... Smh

@philinterrupted - as a whole, never. Not as long as they keep acting like there is gravity in space. On the topic of biomes though, I hope so

@bkmeijer1 - maybe balance in the force means only one animal per biome. J/k

Ben Solo theme the best piece of music to come from John Williams. Not most iconic, but undoubtedly the best

@JFerguson - Dew It (The Senate Song) is the best piece of Star Wars music

bkmeijer1 - 7/3/2024, 5:59 PM
@JFerguson - think it's definitely one the best and most iconic, especially from the sequels. Thise fives notes in that theme alone already are iconic
McMurdo
McMurdo - 7/3/2024, 6:05 PM
@JFerguson - absolute nonsense. First off the Kylo Ren bit is more of a motif than an actual theme. And the Rey theme buries it. But nothing in the sequels comes close to the OT themes nor the PT themes.

@JFerguson - Anything with Kylo Ren being the best I find to be contradictory.

Interesting…

I could still see “Qimir” being the founder of the Knights of Ren (remember he says the Jedi might call me Sith as it’s the closest equivalent as to what he is) but dude’s been giving of some major Kylo vibes , especially in this episode as he manipulated Osha so that could just be their thematic link to the character.

The Power of Two could be the Force Dyad (that could be Mae & Osha aswell) or it could be the Sith rule of Two as he tries to usurp his master and take on his own pupil aswell.

Anyway , I hope we get answers to that in the next 2 episodes but I have a feeling it might be one of the 4-5 threads Headland has said is left open for potential future seasons.

@TheVisionary25 - yeah, I was already expecting the Stranger to be a Ren or Venamis. The former even moreso now after that line. Could see him be both too though.

As for the Power of Two, I think it's both the rule and the dyad. Think in the new canon the rule of two is even based on trying to create a dyad. Which I guess only happens naturally with Rey & Ben and maybe Osha & Mae.

Still, we'll see what answers we'll get. Because of possible future seasons, but also because this supposedly has little ties to the bigger Star Wars universe.

No way thats not Ahch-To... wtf would you keep it secret if it wasnt?

also, this was a massive let down a filler episode for sure.... i hope the last 2 episodes are great and answer a million plot holes we got going on, but i doubt it.... lets see what happens. Only character im Remotely interested/like is The Master/Stranger/Qimir wtf you call him... he's carrying this show

@MotherGooseUPus - confirmed to not be.

You know, if the theory is true that discount Ezra Miller is actually the founder of the knights of Ren, that'll truly be the final nail in the coffin of disney star wars.

Why? Because not only can they not keep the lore straight for the lucas films, but they can't even keep track of their own lore.

@philinterrupted - yeah, but plenty of people who defend the acolyte use wookieepedia. And assuming this is revealed I'm expecting this to be immediately rewritten just like the Canon page of ki adi mundi.

It’s odd to me that a show that’s created and written by a lesbian has so much man flesh in it. 🤷‍♂️🤣

I was so excited for this show when it was announced. They said the story was going to focus on the Darkside.
I don't want to see angry jedis as beat cops.

Good episode. Good cinematography and production value. Last Jedi inspired with the scenery too. Good dialogue also.

Normally, after each episode, I write a long post on what was wrong with it from a story and plot of view.

Everything in this episode is wrong from a story and plot point of view. We are in the exact place as we are in the beginning. They did at least confirm Sol is inept, we need more undressed males, and every time the writers are about to tell us something they think is important, some contrived plot device shows up to prevent that from happening.
