Marvel and the Green Meanies

I just made a realization but I'm sure you and many others have noticed. Marvel has a lot of green villains. Lizard, Vulture, Green Goblin, Abomination, Dr. Doom, Skrull's, Mandarin, Doc Oct, Nightmare, Man-Thing, Molecule Man, Toad, Loki, Namor, Hulk(certain ocassions), the Leader, Electro, Hydra members, Enchantress, Fing Fang Foom, Hela, and Baron Mordo. I can go on forever. Why so many green villains? Is green supposed to represent something. Green with envy? Green=money=power=greed=EVIL? well whatever the case may be but it was a random thought and I would like to see what others think.

green could be associated with power.
but usually purple is. which is why i wondered why Doom chose green.
maybe it was a trend back in the day and now it says to heroes: I am a threat. Beware!

cuz if doom had purple he wouldnt be as threatening.lol. galactus can pull it off but not DR DOOM

I have a simple answer for you. It's a combination of psychology and science:

Early comic books were printed using a simple system of coloring, so primary colors dominated, meaning most heroes wore red, blue and yellow. The opposite colors in the color wheel are, you guessed it, green, purple, and orange.

Also, if you've ever wondered why so many heroes of old had black hair when they were created at a time when the most common hair color among Americans was brown, it's because brown did not print as well.

BTW, it's not just Marvel characters. Look at the joker's iconic costume--green hair, purple suit, orange shirt--or Lex Luthor's armor--green and purple.
