Marvel Movie Cameos,

Now we’ve all been there, they are might awesome, what with Tony Stark at the end of The ‘Incredible Hulk’, Nick Fury wanting to talk about the Avengers Initiative at the end of ‘Iron Man’, and the best yet seeing Thor’s hammer at the end of ‘Iron Man 2’ , All of these prime examples are what is making a lot of fans, even DC fans pumped for the much anticipated ‘Avengers’ film.
However…

Let’s not forget about some of our more… Intense Fans. Finding top secret cameos that even some of the directors didn’t know about. Our first Prime example is the infamous Captain America in the ‘Incredible Hulk’ Film.

I can see how some might think that this is the good Ol’ Cap but the chances of it just being ice are great.

Our next candidate is The punisher just taking a walk around Spiderman’s City in ‘Spider Man 2’

This one I’m more inclined to believe as the resemblance is uncanny, how ever unless I’m told officially that is it then I won’t believe it. And if it has been proved right please tell me as I don’t know.

Now onto the Thor cameo, and no I’m not talking about his hammer folks. This one, to me, is farfetched I mean sure lightning is Thor’s thing, I guess, But come on If people think this is real then From now on any Marvel movie with lightning in it people will say “Golly Gosh its Thor” (That’s literally how they will say it :P) Also not to mention the fact that this is no where near New Mexico… weird…

There is also one claiming that the Human Torch is seen flying around a building on the Television screen in one of the Punisher films, I am unable to find a picture for this and I’m sorry for that.

Now finally onto my main point, People want cameos. Because lets face it, it would be pretty awesome if Spiderman is fighting a villain and we see one of the members of the fantastic 4 fly past chasing some guy in the background.
Sometimes people see what they want to see, but other times, but other times those “Crazy Crack pipes” might just be right, probably not this time but you know, you gotta be right sometimes… right?

And a special thanks to Google for the images :P

The one of Cap is definitely real. The director even talked about the cameo before the movie came out. The other 2 are nonsense.

imnotahero@ Yep - you're dead right. But I think even the Cap one isn't really considered 'cannon' as it was cut from the theatrical release and is just a DVD extra.

Not really a big fan of cameos unless they are there for a good reason.

I like the nods and winks you get in The Incredible Hulk where Stark industries is referenced in the opening montage. This is all you need to creat a 'bigger' universe. But full on cameos only go to frustrate hardcore fans and bamboozle the general audience.

the incredible hulk, thunder & lightning could well be a thor cameo.

ironman

ironman 2(nick fury talks to stark & the in background hulk fight on campus news report is playing on the monitor, see thors hammer after the credits)

the incredble hulk (tony stark turns up in bar & meets genral ross after the credits, this scene actually takes place after iron man 2)

so the thunder storm in the hulk could be either thor arrival or just some shitty weather.

@Marvel72

i like how you put that 'so the thunder storm in the hulk could be either thor arrival or just some shitty weather' hahaha

I'd like to see in Thor, just as an easter egg at the end of the movie when he gets his powers back and summons up a thunder storm and defeats the villain, a monsterous roar heard from far off and a giant boulder land almost right on top of him, almost as if it fell out of the sky.

would be a great reference to TIH when hulk got freaked out by the thunder and threw the giant boulder. although, on that youtube video, the guy says if you look closely you can see something falling in the storm, and well, hulk just did throw a big freaking rock in that same direction......

@ tc

i'm glad you liked, good article mate.

i'm still not sure about caps shield though,a part of me wants it to be the real deal but i still have my doubts.
HaroldOfGalactus
HaroldOfGalactus - 3/10/2011, 7:44 AM
that is Cap in the alternate opening of TIH, Leterrier confirmed it
Paulley
Paulley - 3/10/2011, 7:49 AM
There is an arguement for the TiH cap cameo being still canon even though it didnt feature in the theatrical cut... even the Blu Ray thunderbolt files log the scene as one of the case files which follow the location of banner after the lab incident..

Personally if it doesnt cause continuity problems, then i still consider it canon.. like the scenes with Banner talking with L. Samson.

In regard to the Thor one, he isnt there but i do find the seemingly random changes in weather and use of thunder somewhat suspicious.. wouldnt surprises me if there is some connection

The thing I ask myself when looking at a potential 'cameo' or easter egg is "What is its point?"

It should mean something or at least relate to something (much like the references to stark industries in TIH). Particularly when they are so vague as to be interpreted in a number of different ways.

Otherwise you are simply left with something unresolved whose sole purpose seems to be to get us fanboys talking about it. And if that is the case then we, as individuals, can decide whatever we want. No one is right or wrong.

The trouble with the Thor one is that, at the moment, it doesn't add anything or suggest anything and is SO vague that it just becomes a nonsense UNLESS (which I suspect) it is just a freak CGI coincidence that some people have picked up on.

The Cap one definitely has to be real.
Not too sure about the Thor one, it doesn't look like a person from the distance showed in the pic.
And I agree with Xenix, it probably isn't the Punisher himself but the dude who played him.

the cap one is real. period. but it probably wont be in the MCU 'canon' since it was a deleted scene.

How about the infamous "Goblin Return" in SM3? Look it up.
Stumblin

What'chu talkin' about soundwave? When Dafoe was talking to Harry in the mirror? I don't think that's really all that infamous.

But as the others have stated, the Cap is 100% legit the rest not so much.

Thor cameo is BS. Cap cameo is real. Punisher cameo? Not sure.
Dumegg
Dumegg - 3/10/2011, 1:51 PM
thor cameo IS bs. incredible hulk and iron man II were
supposed to happen at the same time. thor is on earth
with out his powers at this time and mjolnir is in
shield lock down.

I read a interview with Thomas Jane in Wizard Magazine a few years back, and he confirmed that it was indeed him in that scene from Spider-Man 2. So it is him, whether or not it's supposed to be as The Punisher....well who knows :)

@Paulley

I prefer to think of those scenes with Samson as NOT being in canon. In the deleted scenes, Samson is depicted as being cowardly and kind of a douche. That's a stark contrast when compared to the original cut where we see him essentially giving General Ross the finger.

all these cameos are bs they never pan out in future movies they just give us fans something to hope fore

The "Thor cameo" in TIH is ridiculous, and just fanboys wanting it to be something its not. There was nothing about it that even hinted at it being Thor. it was storm. wow. so everytime we see a lightning bolt in a Marvel movie from now, it must have been caused by Thor? give me a break.
Paulley
Paulley - 3/11/2011, 7:06 AM
The Thor "cameo" look like what people say is Jesus on the bottom of a pan

maybe it was just the SFX team messing about i dont think it actually counts towards any story

CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 3/11/2011, 10:05 AM
@ Paulley

I would agree with that, except that they even admitted that the scene was a homage to the comic Hulk: Grey. (which Thor DOES NOT make an appearance in, by the way)

The scene is actually identical with that scene in the comic. Like i said, its just people wanting it to be more than it is.
