Peter Starker's Secret Thoughts On Secret Wars

Peter Starker's Secret Thoughts On Secret Wars

There are a lot of mixed opinions about the Secret Wars event that's happening right now. Is it any good?

Secret Wars has been a complex and confusing event so far. We are immediately thrown into a battle between alternate universes. Then we are introduced to "Battleword". This is a world where Dr. Doom is "God" and characters are in completely different form. There is a group of Thors acting as cops. Random alternate realities have been mixed up in Battleworld.

When I first began Secret Wars, it was overwhelming, to say the least. I thought it was all a little too unorganized and I didn't see the point. So, I read the second issue begrudgingly. I couldn't make it past the first half. It seemed to have nothing to do with the first issue. After a couple of weeks, I decided to pick the comic back up. I finished it and was blown away at how much it drew me in. Suddenly, Secret Wars seemed so much more appealing. Next, it was time for some tie-ins.

One of the first tie-ins I read was the Secret Wars "Planet Hulk". This comic featured a warrior version of Steve Rogers and Hulks. It was incredible! Then I read the first issue of "Battleworld". In this comic, Dr. Strange's consciousness is inside Frank Castle. I finally started to see the point. At this time, Marvel can try anything they want and just see what happens. Secret Wars makes anything possible. The outlandish has become the norm. That's the mindset you must have in order to enjoy Secret Wars.

I can't wait to see the results of Secret Wars. For now though, I'm enjoying the ride. I just finished the first "Thors" comic and it was great! It left off with an awesome cliffhanger and I can't wait for more. So, if you haven't checked Secret Wars out, I encourage you to have the right mindset and give it a shot!

Please share your thoughts on Secret Wars in the comments! If you have any questions, ask away! By the way, this has been my first article so let me know what I could have done better. Until next time,

Petey!

Secret Wars is mostly unappealing for me, although there are a few great Tie-Ins, like Ghost Riders.
Although I am terrified as to which of my favorite characters will live .//. I actually loved the ultimate X-Men and its cast, and if Hawkeye stays dead and we're stuck with the Ultimate one, screw this title

I think the main story is underwhelming. I like the Old Man Logan tie in, though.

@blackandyellow

@DellRusk

I didn't have any expectations going in. It's just not an interesting story to me.

Ok. Were you reading what was going on before in New Avengers and Avengers before this event? I feel like I'm enjoying it more since I been following the lead up to this. If I went in cold turkey I'm not sure how I would feel. Now we have the Cabal and the other 616 plus couple of Ultimate characters in Battleworld from the raft.

@WinterOstrich Yeah I agree about the characters that will die. I'm just hoping Marvel knows best! Haha

No, the only Avengers titles I was reading was Avengers Assemble. I know that it's been leading it up to this event for a while, but I didn't know the details.

@PeterStarker

I've bought a handful of series on Comixology, but the only ones I've sat down and read so far are Old Man Logan and the 1992 X-Men books. Any other tie-ins you suggest?

@blackandyellow I've enjoyed Planet Hulk, Thors, and Battleworld. The Spider Verse tie-in was a lot better than I expected, but I'm a sucker for Spider-Gwen!

Yeah, it's definitely weird. The Howard the Duck/Blade crossover was not something I was expecting.
