Rob Liefeld Reveals Sketches From Eazy-E’s Potential Comic Book.

With the success of the NWA biopic “Straight Outta Compton” members of the group are in the news. Now we’ve learned that one of the group’s former members had a connection to the world of comics as well. Check out these character sketches from an undeveloped Eazy E comic book project.

A rapper, producer, and the head of his own record label the late great Eric Wright, better known by his stage name Eazy-E was an innovator in the music industry whether as a member of NWA or doing his own solo projects.  When you think about Eazy you don’t usually think comics, but it turns out the hip hop legend was looking to develop a comic book about urban men with super powers. Titled “The Hood”, Wright met with Image Comics co-founder Rob Liefeld in hope of seeing his vision come to life. So with Eazy on so many peoples mind due to the success of the NWA biopic “Straight Outta Compton”, Liefeld has shared some of the sketches that came out of those meeting with the rapper.

“Here are some of the sketches for The Hood, a project about urban men with powers developed/created with Eazy-E in 1992-93. The designs are dated but reflect the time of that era. #Youngblood had a huge urban audience with characters such as Sentinel and Chapel. Would have been a blast to complete but Eazy-E had fell out of contact due to complications with his illness.”

As most people know Eric Wright was taken much too soon after being diagnosed with AID’s he passed away one month later.

It’s unfortunate that we never were able to see this project come to life. With a reputation of staying true to his artistic vision like music he created his comic could have been just as ground breaking.

@NerdMan

My brother just who exactly are you referring to when you say...

"now these asshats think they are actors."

You're telling me that rap artist don't deserve to act? lol Tupac was a great actor, Eminem was offered many roles for numerous films but he's declined them for different reasons. Shoooooot, even an artist like Nas used to create and draw his own versions of characters like Spider-Man and Hulk and re envision them as characters who he could see growing up in the projects like him. I'm sure Eazy-E could've done many other things than take his time out to imagine comic book characters but I mean sheesh, shouldn't we all just be glad that comic book fans vary from multiple backgrounds?

And to be honest, you have to look at more than what the media throws in front of you in regards to those rap artist that you don't care too much for/the messages they are spreading. Let's not forget that most of these record companies are run under people outside of the African-American race. Those are the people who help distribute the imagery that you don't approve of, so tackle them and not these lame cats who are just falling into the trap of throwing out consistent garbage.

Never forget the positives...

@NerdMan If your tolling your just a Ahole. If your serious I feel sorry for you. One of the dumber things I've ever seen posted on this site. Rock Bands Talk about T&A,and violence, Country Bands talk about getting lit and badonk, and rap groups talk about the street and bootys. It's not a race thing it's the music industry. As for rap artists becoming actors. Cube, Ice T, and Common come to mind right off the bat. Comedy, action, and, drama, open your mind and you'll be surprised what you might learn.

This sounds interesting, but Rob Liefeld is a hack. He needs to take an art class.

I'm genuinely shocked...

@Jollem A hack to me is someone who is not good at what they do. Rob Liefeld obviously loves what he does for a living, but he is a bad artist IMO.

I don't hate Asians. I'm not the one with the avatar of an offensive stereotype of an Asian person.

It's funny how a quite a few people called you out for your stupid ass/racist comment, but you only responded to me...

You should do people a favor by being less of an anal retentive douchebag.

@Areo I'm constantly getting on your case, because there is something about how you conduct yourself at times that I don't like. Your comment on this article is a great example of that. You have had other people on this article take offense to your comment, so it isn't just me.

Also, I didn't even know you were Asian. That's very irrational thinking on your part to think I hate Asian people, just because I get into arguments with you. It seems like you're turning this around into a race thing, even though what I said here shows that I don't discriminate.

You acting like this is another reason why I don't like you... You like to twist things around to make it seem like you're superior and that it is the other person who is at fault. You know, I think it's best if I don't reply to you or acknowledge you from here on out. It's obvious are personalities clash and that will never change. Good luck to you.
