While many Comicbook fans around the world got a kick out of Constantine, NBC wasn't overly fond of the idea. Many can agree that the series had a bad time slot, and lacked promotion, and that (and more) eventually caused it to get canceled after thirteen episodes. At a press junket, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice writer shared his thoughts on it, and revealed that he doesn't think the show should have been on NBC to start with.

“I loved Constantine. In retrospect, I don’t think it should have been on NBC. I think it was the wrong channel and I’m sure they probably agree with that as well." I'm sure that's something we can agree on as well. While it is unclear with the CW or any other network didn't pick up the series, Goyer spoke more on the matter, and revealed how he thinks the show could have survived. "We almost doubled our numbers in DVR numbers, but they weren’t quite there in network television in counting those metrics. If it had been on a basic cable channel, it could still be on."

Even though Constantine was short-lived, Matt Ryan will get the chance to reprise his role on The CW’s Arrow come November 4th. Goyer also gave his thoughts on that, and thanked the Arrow showrunners for the opportunity. "I adore Matt and I think he is the definitive depiction of the character, and I think it is super cool that Greg (Berlanti) and Andrew (Kreisberg) brought him into that show." What do you think?

John Constantine, a demon hunter and dabbling master of the occult, must struggle with his past sins while protecting the innocent from the converging supernatural threats that constantly break through to our world due to the "Rising Darkness". Balancing his actions upon the line of good and evil, Constantine uses his skills and a supernatural scry map to journey across the nation to send these terrors back to their own world, all for the hope of redeeming his soul from eternal torment.

No shit, Dave. That Friday time slot when everyone's at the bar didn't help either.

I see. Couldn't possibly be because the show was mediocre (and that's being generous). Nope. All these other externalities are at fault.

@DeusExSponge a Constantine/Hellblazer show on HBO... damn, that'd be incredible.

I really wish this show got picked up by another. I even liked how it was only a thirteen episode season. More shows should follow the European model of having less episodes. Had it got picked up for another season showing season two during the summer would have been the best option, seeing as nothing is ever on during that time of year.

I'm hoping that if Preacher is successful AMC will pick up Hellblazer. If HBO or Showtime picked up Constantine it'd just turn into soft-core porn with horror elements. Oh. That sounds familiar.
It was called True Blood.
Constantine is not True Blood folks.

I pretty sure everyone on this site knew that from day one. Lol. Like 99% of the users here call it be cancelled as soon as they heard the Network and Time slot.

NBC wasn't the right network for HANNIBAL either.

Its too bad that we are probrably never going to get a successful Hellblazer show. Oh well, the JLD movie isn't a bad alternative.
