Full (Disappointing) Sunday Schedule For San Diego Comic Con 2011 Released!

Were you expecting any big comic book movie surprises on the final day of 2011's San Diego Comic Con? Well, prepare to be disappointed! Here's the full schedule for Sunday, July 24th...

By JoshWilding - Jul 10, 2011 05:07 PM EST
Filed Under: Comic-Con

We already knew that Marvel Studios and Warner Bros. were scaling back on the big movie presentations, but I'm pretty sure that the majority of us were still hoping for a surprise of some sort. A last minute panel for The Avengers? An early look at The Dark Knight Rises or Man of Steel perhaps? Nope! While there are a fair few decent panels, and plenty on offer for TV fans, the usually awesome last Sunday of the event looks set to be a quiet news day here on CBM!

SUNDAY, JULY 24

The entire 4 days are pretty disappointing. Sux that Disney is now pulling Marvel's strings and pushed their presentation to the D23 thing. I'm heading out to SDCC (6 years in a row), but this may be the last if this is what it's coming to.

What do you mean disappointing Sunday? The last day of the con has always been heavy into animation, both adult leaning and kid friendly,so it would be unrealistic too expect Marvel Studios and WB to just show up on that day with tent poles.
The problem with some fan sites is they take one occurrence (in this case the Marvel studios and WB Hall H no shows) and try to project this as a trend. Sure Disney is pushing the full Avengers panel to D23,(They would be crazy not to promote their new corporate asset in house) but that hardly means we wont get some cool Marvel Studios presentations and announcements at this and future conventions.Besides
the Avengers already did the con (minus footage)last year and another Marvel film (Amazing Spider-Man) will enjoy center stage as part of the Sony slate of films.
(Has anybody noticed that Sony and Marvel seem to coordinate better then FOX and Marvel?) As for DC, it's a well known fact that Nolan avoids the con and TMOS has nothing to show. The fact DC Entertainment is not coming could be chalked up to a corporate decision for this year and not a permanent policy.Dark Shadows and Jack the Giant killer just started filming,so why spend all the money to bring in the talent if you can't wow the fans with footage? FOX and Paramount have passed on the con before showing up this year and nobody cried that it was the end of the con.

We dont need Con to be just a bunch of celebrities that dont actually give a shit about comics just there to get photographed.

jaycr
jaycr - 7/10/2011, 8:58 PM
I find it nice, they will cover the major events in COMICS and I remember hearing complains about the SDCC becoming a display for movies rather than comics. They are going back to the roots and focus on comics rather than movies and I think that's cool.

If you are into comics, gosh seeing Jim Lee giving away tips on how to improve drawing sounds awesome, the panels about The DC reboot and Fear Itself look nice too. I find very interesting the panels about marketing and distribution of comic book in the digital age, and Battle of the Superheroes, exploring their psychology looks awesome too.

If you want to hang around movie stars go to the freaking Oscars or Spike Tv or MTV Movie Awards. If you like comic books, you must care about what people like Jim Lee, Marjorie Liu or Dave Gibbons have to say.

Next year we will have a lot of info of CBMs, that's better than rush things and get trailers like the "I know right" one just to show something at Comic Con.

I'm laughing on the inside for all of you suckers that banked on Sunday being the big day and this came out. When is there going to be a comicbookmovie.com session? I would totally be there. We could make it a meet and greet with the editors, writers, and commentators.

Fly teabag in from the UK, post bail for Grif, break Gusto out of the home, and pull Marvel72 from the comic book shop for the most awesomest session in the world of comic book conventions, right behind the Avengers session last year. If they won't let it happen at the comicon, then we get the convention room at the Motel 6, a couple kegs, Twinkies, Easy Cheese, hot dogs and techno music and the ladies will flock to this awesomness.

this is only disappointing if you go to comic con for videos game and TV/movie adaptations. If you love comic for comic book's sake, than this could be the best comic on they've put together for a long time. I like the fact that the panels aren't flooded with celebrities and hollywood talent. And honestly seeing underdeveloped trailers just pisses everyone off anyway.
