DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Rumor Says Wilson Bethel Is Back As Bullseye

Marvel Studios' Daredevil: Born Again is turning into one big Netflix reunion as the latest report has Wilson Bethel set to reprise his role as Bullseye.

Marvel might as well start marketing Daredevil: Born Again as the fourth season of Netflix's Daredevil series.

The MCU take on Matt Murdock will once again see him squaring off against Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin, in a show that will also see Jon Bernthal return as the Punisher.

Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll are also reportedly set to return as  Foggy Nelson and Karen Page, respectively.

Now, the latest report states that Wilson Bethel is also returning, as Benjamin "Dex" Poindexter. The character appeared in season 3 as a  psychopathic FBI agent who suffered from psychological issues.

Bullseye doesn't have any superpowers, but he can turn nearly anything within reach into a deadly projectile. He can utilize playing cards, screwdrivers and pencils just as effectively as traditional throwing weapons like shurikens and kunai. His marksmanship in Marvel is second to none.

Initially appearing as a Daredevil impostor, it didn't take long for Marvel Comics fans to realize that Bethel would be portraying the show's take on the classic Marvel villain, Bullseye.

If all these rumors pan out, it seems Marvel Studios is pulling out all the stops to make sure that MCU fans start viewing Born Again as a must-see television series.

Filming on the TV show seemingly resumed on Monday and will purportedly focus on Fisk running for mayor of New York City.

A new showrunner (The Punisher and Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan's Dario Scardapane), directors ( Moon Knight and Loki season 2 directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead) and a few familiar faces from the Netflix Daredevil series have been brought in to appease Kevin Feige, who reportedly was not impressed by early footage filmed prior to this summer's WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike.

The production shut down due to the strikes but that allowed Feige the chance to review what had been filmed and move quickly to make sweeping changes.

In addition, it's thought that Born Again's initial 18-episode order has been significantly reduced in the wake of the revamp. It's now thought that the show might consist of 8-12 episodes, with a potential midseason hiatus also in play.

Currently, Born Again is without an exact release date but it's said to be part of Phase Five of the MCU, which ends on February 14, 2025, with Captain America: Brave New World. Phase Six is currently slated to begin on May 2, 2025, with Fantastic Four but that release date might be in danger if Marvel doesn't lock down the cast for Marvel's "first family."

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - There were gonna do something different and unique, their own version with Charlie and Vincent as the only people coming back, which might have been good or it might have been shit, but then all the fans whined and whined so now they're just bringing back everyone the fans wanted to see whether it makes sense or not. And it might be good or it might be shit. But it won't be anything we haven't already seen.

@ObserverIO - It always pains me to see Tattoine in SW beyond Ep I and IV.

That should some forgotten planet, totally unimportant and the last place Vader would think of, and even less as a safehouse for a kid he thought died at birth and Obi-Wan.

Yet they keep coming back to it. They even took Vader there. I can't believe how stupid that is.

I can but the Matt Murdock in NWH as the same, but I can’t buy the Matt/DD in She-Hulk as the same guy.

I feel like this decision was made far too late. When the Netflix DD first appeared on Disney they should have CG’d in Avengers tower, recorded a few new bits of audio to really bring it into line with the MCU.

Then just say that Netflix and Disney versions exist in seperate albeit similar universes giving them the ability to keep what worked and delete what didn’t

@Knightrider - I am not the biggest fan of She-Hulk but the She-Hulk Matt makes some sense when you recall how much of a witty (he's always been charming and I think his SH turn his a guy who is more charming) guy he actually was during the events of Daredevil, primarily season 1, and how Season 3 ended with him being "Born Again." Season 3 focuses on the deconstruction of the entire man, Devil, and all. By the end, he learns that both halves need to exist for the other to live. There's relief in that. You could see how he would be a little lighter on his feet.

@Knightrider - Nothing of Matt/DD in She-Hulk felt like it broke anything of how he was in the Netflix show, fighting style was identical, suit similar enough and showed a lighter side oft enough in his three seasons etc that nothing else seemed out of place for him in context. Comics did that all the time too that a character would come across darker or lighter as approp when turning up in another characters run or during crossover events.

@Knightrider - "Disney they should have CG’d in Avengers tower, recorded a few new bits of audio to really bring it into line with the MCU. Then just say that Netflix and Disney versions exist in seperate albeit similar universes giving them the ability to keep what worked and delete what didn’t"

But . . . they can already do that. By the time Born Again hits D+, it'll be 11 years in-universe since the events of Season 3. No "Special Edition" shenanigans needed!

@Knightrider - Characters exist with completely different tones depending on what comic they are appearing in. No reason that the shows and films should be any different. Hell, some days I'm an uptight dick, and other days I'm dead charming.

@GhostDog @Knightrider @Izaizaiza - Agreed all around. Plus, c'mon! The dude was practically on vacation. He's out of gritty old NYC, on the West Coast, wearing his happy colors, having fun and getting laid! Why wouldn't he be in a cheerier mood? He's human like everyone else. I know that I'm usually in a much lighter mood when I'm on vacation, especially some place tropical, eating, drinking, and doing what I want, instead of the moody asshole I can sometimes be when I'm back home and have like 1000 things to deal with.

Hell, my wife and kids and I went to Maui a couple of months ago and I don't think that anyone got angry or argued about anything the entire time, and anyone with little kids knows how hard that is to pull off (and I managed to seriously bruise my knee and jam my pinky (twice)). So why wouldn't Matt be in a lighter mood, especially when he's off as a swinging bachelor? Now, how he'll be back in his element in NYC should be a different story, so we'll just have to see...
KelvTwelve
KelvTwelve - 1/23/2024, 9:39 PM
@Knightrider - Like comic books, these films are going to be subject to things another writer has done at some point. You could always write an out along the lines of "Matt isn't with Karen anymore because he disappeared during the blip and she got married" or "Matt survived the blip with Karen but Kingpin being able to free himself during the Blip meant she went into hiding and they broke up." etc.

Even if you're referring to pure character tone, these characters switch from jokey to serious all the time. Even Matt found the humor in dark situtations.
KelvTwelve
KelvTwelve - 1/23/2024, 9:42 PM
@GhostDog - This is literally why I really wish Spider-Man 4 was happening before Daredevil Born Again. It seems a bit late now but I was hoping Matt would be the person to show Peter that he needs both halves of himself to exist. Peter destroys the "Peter" side of him at the end of NWH, and if that were to be the end of the trilogy, it would kind of be an awful send off to Tom Holland's Spider-Man. He's literally at his darkest point, which is why a Daredevil that's gone through all that development would be perfect to bring in.

ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 1/24/2024, 4:09 AM
@EnergyVamp - Agreed. It would be better if they just tried to do their own thing in their own universe. Then if it's good it's a bonus and if it's bad it doesn't affect the Netflix shows.

They risk ire with this.
