James Gunn continues to drop tidbits about his plans for the revamp of the DC Studios cinematic universe, post-Snyderverse.
A fan recently asked the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director if viewers would have to wait until Peacemaker season 2 before seeing more of Freddie Stroma's Vigilante. Gunn replied, "Probably before Peacemaker 2."
Originally, Chris Conrad was originally cast as Vigilante, but he departed the show after filming five episodes. Stroma was brought in to replace Conrad, and he filmed the remaining episodes of the season.
Stroma's performance as Vigilante was praised by critics and audiences alike. He was able to capture the character's dark humor and his unhinged nature. He also had great chemistry with John Cena, who played Peacemaker.
Elsewhere, Gunn was also asked about the time period that Creature Commandos would take place in and revealed that the series would be set in modern day.
That's somewhat unexpected as the comic book origin for the supernatural army squad has them forming a team during World War II.
Creature Commandos will actually be the first project released in the DCU's Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
The animated series will hit Max in 2024 and stars David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein/Frankenstein's Monster, Indira Varma as The Bride, Zoe Chao as Dr. Nina Mazursky, Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus, Sean Gunn as Weasel and G.I. Robot, and Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr. Gunn has previously indicated that the voice actors are all expected to reprise their roles in any live-action appearance.
Given the fact that Gunn has revealed that Vigilante will return before Peacmaker season 2 and that Creature Commandos will be set in modern day, perhaps we'll see the unhinged crimefighter make his Gods and Monsters debut here?
