DEADPOOL 2 Actor T.J. Miller Promises A Funnier Sequel With a Dark And Tragic First Act

While many sequels tend to expand on what worked in their first installments, T.J. Miller has promised that Deadpool 2 won't tread into familiar territory when it hits theatres next year...

It's not uncommon for film sequels — especially sequels in the comedy genre — to retread successful tropes, jokes, and story elements from their prior installments. With Deadpool 2 walking a fine line between comedy and superhero action, actor T.J. Miller says that the sequel will be keeping it fresh by heading in a much different direction than the first film. "It’s not going to be like Hangover 2, it’s not going to be the same movie in a different location, for instance," the actor told Screen Rant. "It’s got different stakes, different things happen, some pretty tragic, dark sh-t happens in the first part of the film, in the beginning, and the rest of the film is kind of dealing with that, so that’s interesting. But Weasel remains just absolutely the most selfish individual on the face of the planet."

Though the film may not be revisiting old laughs, Miller said he believed that the film will be funnier than its predecessor. "This installment is going to be more Weasel-icious than ever before. I was crying so hard laughing that I dropped an iPad in a public restaurant when I was reading the script. As Ryan [Reynolds] and I were talking about, it’s this great thing where we know the tone, we know the stakes, everybody’s played these characters before – most importantly, we know the tone, we know how to hit it pitch perfect. So I think it might actually be funnier than the first one. I’m really, really excited."

With the addition of comic mainstays Cable (Josh Brolin) and Domino (Zazie Beetz), along with director David Leitch, it's clear that fans will be receiving a very distinct follow-up when the film hits theatres on June 1, 2018. Are you excited that the film will be forging a new path? Let us know in the comments!

I used to like TJ Miller. Then he left silicon valley for a dick reason and had a shitty stand up special that showed he fired really bad stand up.

@DrunkCipher - That would actually be perfectly hilarious. Imagine if DP had a different director for each film and each one paradied that director's best film lol.

"...some pretty tragic, dark sh-t happens in the first part of the film, in the beginning, and the rest of the film is kind of dealing with that..."

Thank god. With the change in director, I was afraid they were gonna go full silly comedy in the sequel. Now I'm fully on board. One the main reasons that makes the first movie great is because it brings plenty of emotion, not just dumb jokes.
