Mutant mercenary Domino will be making her big screen debut in Deadpool 2 played by Atlanta actress Zazie Beetz, and Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld was elated with the casting choice, calling Beetz "...everything I could have hoped for" on his Instagram page. In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, the writer and artist explained that Beetz' ability to keep up with Ryan Reynolds' comedic timing made her perfect for the role.

“Domino is all about… as an actress and as the character that is going to be on the screen you already allude to it, it’s all about the sass,” Liefeld explained. “You gotta understand: you’re gonna go up against Wade Wilson, who in this movie is Ryan Reynolds. I’m telling you, having been around Ryan multiple times that mouth cannot be stopped. I don’t think he can say the jokes as fast as they are backed up in his head.”

“Some of these people be like, ‘Oh hey, this girl should have been Domino, and pick out actress A through Z,’ and I’d be like, ‘I’m not sure that they can keep up with him.’ And oh my gosh, I’m not sure that Ryan’s gonna keep up with her,” he continued. “I think Ryan Reynolds is gonna have to work hard to keep up with Zazie. I mean, wow. You just go, ‘That chemistry is going to be spectacular.’ And that’s what it comes down to is the chemistry with these characters.”

If Liefeld's words and that rumored concept art are to be believed, fans will likely be in for a treat when Deadpool 2 hits theatres in 2018. What do you think of Liefeld's thoughts? Let us know in the usual place!

As long as she has paint over her face does it really matter which actress plays her? If the man says the chemistry works and if YOU'RE a comic fan then you should be hella excited because deadpool and domino's relationship is like-AAAAAGHKLNNKLNGGXCPPP/!/"!!!

@TheRealMandarin - Judging by the "leaked" fanart, it doesn't look like they will go in that direction...

I know everyone is hoping for something like this:

Which I admit, I wanted myself. However, I do understand how racially insensitive it could come off if one of the first black women cast as a superhero has to be dipped in white paint to get on the screen.

At this point, i'm just hoping for excellent characterization....and it appears that is indeed what we will get.

@Talontd - Its frustrating because of all the characters they pick for the first black woman... It had to be one that's covered in white pain lol

But you none the less... you make a good point. Characterization above all else with this one.
