DEADPOOL 2 Director David Leitch Rumored To Return To Helm A Third Instalment

With the Disney/Fox merger now official, we don't even know if X-Force will happen but a new report claims that the filmmaker is attached to helm a third instalment of the Merc with the Mouth's franchise.

We've previously heard that X-Force (which is being written and directed by Drew Goddard) will basically be Deadpool 3 but it's hard to imagine the Merc with the Mouth's solo adventures coming to an end. Now, rumour has it that David Leitch is already attached to another movie for the character and that does make sense seeing as the filmmaker previously said he wants to return to the series.

However, while Disney boss Bob Iger has said that the R-Rated Deadpool franchise could live on in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we don't know how realistic that is or whether or not Kevin Feige and company would reboot Wade Wilson (even if that means saying goodbye to the actor synonymous with the hero). It's also presumably Fox that wants to bring Leitch back but Marvel may not agree!

For now, everything is very much up in the air and unless Deadpool 3 is shooting by the time the merger is finished, it may not happen. Leitch returning would be no bad thing, of course, but we'll just have to wait and see because this is very much a rumour right now. What do you guys think the future holds in store for the Merc with the Mouth? As always, let us know your thoughts in the usual place.

I wonder if Disney will fire Ryan Reynolds if he makes james gunn, dave bautista, cancer, and child molestation jokes similar to part 1. Concerned that DP jokes may be clean and X-Force becomes pg-13.

I know disney has released r-rated films in the past, but those past films never had a Marvel Brand.

If a billiards table were destroyed, could people then play a game of deadpool?

The best and really only hilarious part of the whole film were the end credit scenes.
I wish they humor translated more into the actual film. The humor just wasn't really there.

If Ryan Reynolds doesn't come back to play Deadpool then I suggest getting Sean William Scott or Mark Walhberg.

Deadpool 2 was in no way bad, it was good, but it was missing the charm of the first film, which made it great

I'd be all for it.

Slightly OT: great video on Deadpool 2 that echoes my thoughts on it pretty much exactly.

I like Deadpool 2, but the first one was better,

Things I didn’t like in Deadpool 2:
- no main villain (like Antman and the Wasp)
- the dream scenes with Vanessa
- the Logan/Wolverine references

The funniest scenes were the first X-Force „Mission“ and Deadpool with baby legs

@IcemanX - I actually enjoyed the kid as the de facto 'main villain'.

It was a nice balance between him and Eddie Marsan's character.

imo the movie was slightly better than part one but something went definitely wrong.

i think the reshoots also did not help. you can see that in Domino scene when she wants to join the band, her jacket is zipped in one scene, then it's unzip in another. this happens several times. was it intentional ? kinda doubt it. seems like they did the reshoots scene and just left it there)

you can even see it in this trailer

also the story was rather thin

@jerryblake

Continuity errors, happens in every movie. Wouldn’t be surprised if they happened due to reshoots. But those wardrobe errors can be seen in a lot of movies.

I think they should make Deadpool 3 an x-force movie and just have him make fun of timelines, universes and have the avengers make small cameos like the x-men

Awesome.

He did a great job, and you could see where his style came in. Still think the writers (and RR as DP) are the ones that make the film, but David did a great job. Loved Deadpool 2.

Pretty sure it'll still be an "X-Force" movie but they'll call it Deadpool 3 to make it
more marketable.

Leitch isn’t a bad director, but I honestly don’t care for him to return. Deadpool 2 was an okay film, but it wasn’t nearly as funny as the first one, and the plot was pretty pointless to me. I understand a Deadpool film isn’t exactly going to have some serious gripping drama, but I was never that much invested in the plot about saving the kid. I wish they’d bring Tim Miller back honestly, maybe Marvel/Disney will.

I'd like for them to get a third director in for the franchise if it does continue. Especially if it is an X-Force film.
