The first trailer for Marvel Studios' Deadpool and Wolverine debuted on Sunday night during the Super Bowl, and while most of the characters (Cassandra Nova, Colossus, etc) glimpsed in the teaser were either previously confirmed or rumored, an appearance from Aaron Stanford as Pyro came as a complete surprise.

Stanford debuted as the fire-manipulating mutant in X-Men 2, before going on to reprise the role as a member of Magneto's new Brotherhood in The Last Stand, which marked his final appearance as the character before Matthew Vaughn's First Class reset.

In the Deadpool and Wolverine trailer, Pyro can be seen watching the Merc With a Mouth fighting for his life in what is believed to be a version of Secret Wars' Battleworld.

Now, Sandford has taken to social media to share a behind-the-scenes photos of "our old Droogie Pyro."

Quite a few cameos have been lined up for Deadpool 3, including several other X-Men characters (Storm, Cyclops, and Jean Grey among them), and possibly even Channing Tatum and Taylor Kitsch as different Variants of Gambit.

A recent rumor claimed that Liev Schreiber is also set to reprise his X-Men Origins: Wolverine role as Victor Creed (that appeared to be Tyler Mane in the recent set photos). Variants of the Merc With a Mouth are also rumored to appear, including Dogpool (since confirmed), Kidpool, Lady Deadpool, and more.

The one major return that had been confirmed by the trades is Jennifer Garner as Elektra, but the Alias alum declined to confirm anything in a recent interview.

Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Rob Delaney (Peter), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead) And Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio) will all return as their respective characters, and they'll be joined by franchise newcomers Emma Corrin (The Crown) and Matthew Macfadyen (Succession), whose roles are still under wraps.

A recent synopsis for the movie reads: "After facing some professional setbacks while going through a midlife crisis, Wade Wilson decides to officially retire Deadpool and becomes a used car salesman. But when his friends, family, and the whole world are at stake, Deadpool decides to bring his katanas out of retirement," the synopsis continues. "He recruits an unwilling and wary Wolverine to not only fight for their survival, but ultimately, their legacy."

Shawn Levy directs DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE which stars Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Matthew Macfadyen.

Kevin Feige, Ryan Reynolds, Shawn Levy and Lauren Shuler Donner produce with Louis D’Esposito, Wendy Jacobson, Mary McLaglen, Josh McLaglen, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, George Dewey, Simon Kinberg and Jonathon Komack Martin serving as executive producers.

DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE is written by Ryan Reynolds & Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick & Zeb Wells & Shawn Levy.

Marvel Studios’ DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE opens in U.S. & Canadian movie theaters on July 26, and will be available in IMAX, RealD 3D, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, Cinemark XD and premium screens everywhere.

He was really good in the Twelve Monkeys show. Underrated actor

@GhostDog - He really is underrated. He's got genuine talent. Needs to be used more. Needs an oscar. Not overselling it either.

@GhostDog - Ashamed to admit I didn't know this show existed until a month ago, like For All Mankind it somehow slipped below my radar (or maybe just not advertised much here in UK). Been binging S1 and it's very good, as is Aaron Stanford as the lead

@elgaz - I found it a little after it first aired too. Really good show.

@GhostDog - came to say that. Season one (and two? Cant remember that well) was especially good.

@elgaz - Keep going, it might start to feel like story it's being stretched but after few "slow" episodes, it not only gets even better but by the season finale, all those slow and story staling episodes fit in the bigger picture just fine.

His only iconic scene was the scene at Bobby's family home in X2.

@lazlodaytona - The house standoff scene was great but that "fight" in X3 was weak as hell.

@HashTagSwagg - You're probably correct. The movie was so bad I put it out of my memory. So, I guess I forgot the exact details.

@lazlodaytona - They Kamehameha each other, Bobby goes to his knees and then gives Pyro head. The end.

@Doomsday8888 -
This is the only scene Pyro had where he got to be cool, throughout the entire rest of the franchise he sucked.

not guna lie. i had NO idea it was the same actor/character from X2. This. This was a pleasant surprise even if he's in the movie for all of 1min. Shocked it wasn't spoiled

I like how even though he's making an MCU appearance, they put him in a costume that would feel like it would be in a Fox Marvel movie.

The trailer was like the definition of anti-hype. It's killed all enthusiasm and hope I had for this film.

It's trying to bank on nostalgia that frankly is not there.

I have been saying that Disney is desperate. Then a lot if marvelndisney shills argued.

Then the DP3 had a joke on Disney begging.

Ok, tnx bye.

@FireandBlood -

X2 is the perfect example of a film with fantastical elements being believable in a real world. It's so well made. I'd argue that it's the perfect template for a grounded film with super powered beings. Not winter soldier or the dark knight.

It's x2💪❤️

@HashTagSwagg - I didn't like First Class, should have been the original five X-Men but it wasn't.

Good movie but not a good X-Men movie.
