The recent teaser trailer for Deadpool and Wolverine made it very clear that Wade Wilson's MCU debut wasn't going to shy away from taking a few swipes at Disney/Marvel Studios, and it seems at least a few of the barbs will also be directed at the man in charge of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Karan Soni, who will reprise his role as the Merc With a Mouth's loyal chauffeur turned wannabe assassin Dopinder, has been sharing some fun details about the upcoming threequel while promoting his new movie at SXSW, and spoke about Kevin Feige paying a visit to the set during an interview with Collider.

"It was just like, this one was so different for me because we didn't get a script or anything. It was very secretive. And so we were just in this, I got the scene like the day before or whatever, and we walked into the sound stage, and he just appeared next to Hugh Jackman, and I was just like, I don't know what's happening. It was very crazy, but he was very sweet, very kind. He came up and said hi to all of us from the original movies and stuff, and he seemed excited himself by what was happening. And then Ryan is definitely like, you know, calling him out a lot at the moment. There's a lot of Kevin jokes [in the movie]. You have to have a good sense of humor and he does. So that's cool."

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law actually beat Deadpool to the punch with a few good-natured jabs at Feige and the studio, but something tells us the Merc's gags will be a little more... cutting!

Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Rob Delaney (Peter), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead) And Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio) will all return as their respective characters, and they'll be joined by franchise newcomers Emma Corrin (The Crown) and Matthew Macfadyen (Succession), who will play a TV agent and Cassandra Nova (not confirmed).

A recent synopsis for the movie reads: "After facing some professional setbacks while going through a midlife crisis, Wade Wilson decides to officially retire Deadpool and becomes a used car salesman. But when his friends, family, and the whole world are at stake, Deadpool decides to bring his katanas out of retirement," the synopsis continues. "He recruits an unwilling and wary Wolverine to not only fight for their survival, but ultimately, their legacy."

Shawn Levy directs Deadpool and Wolverine from a script by Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells.

The movie is set to open in U.S. & Canadian theaters on July 26, and will be available in IMAX, RealD 3D, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, Cinemark XD and premium screens everywhere.

Wouldn't be surprised if most get cut. This is the type of movie where I expect they shoot the same scene with different jokes inserted multiple times. Guessing they'll drop one take in the movie, the other in the trailer

You may not have seen She Hulk but the last episode was a complete joke at Feige's expense. They will be merciless.

@Goldboink - oh I did, and I can definitely see them continuing to do so. I just don't see them go all out on hin, as they probably had jokes in scenes that worked better. Same reason I think the Marvel Jesus joke isn't gonna be in the movie.

Wouldn't surprise me.

They did have his name on a pizza box in the first film "Feige's Pizza"

Yeah I can totally see Feige as someone that can laugh at himself.

And what he describes of how the reunion that he had with Hugh Jackman sounds truthful, IIRC it was Feige himself who sneaked X-Men comics in the production of Bryan Singer's films (or at least the 1st one) to the cast so that they would be more informed.

This movie will be very, very fun and that's what matters.

Everything about this film feels extremely corporate and manufactured, soulless. Kevin Feige jokes are about the level She-Hulk reached.

They won't allow Deadpool to actually rip Disney a new one because if they actually acknowledged how shit everything Disney have done with Phase 4/5 has been then it'd turn people away from Phase 6.

@Scarilian - i agree.

Everything is inorganic since the firt marketing images last year.

Marvel desperate.

@Scarilian - Did you miss the Disney jokes in the trailer? And that 'Marvel Jesus' joke being very forthright that Deadpool is gonna be the saviour of the MCU. They're already doing it.

@ObserverIO -
You get a joke about pegging and you think that's remotely scathing to Disney?

You get a remark about 'Marvel Jesus' and think that's a scathing remark about Phase 4-6?

These are the most absolutely lighthearted, empty, soulless remarks that one could give.

Man... making Marvel great again (MMGA) shouldn't be about ripping the Fourth wall open and insulting what hasn't worked... critics, detractors and fans are constantly doing that anyway. Deadpool was created out of desperation to re-invigorate comic fans by illustrating everything that's WRONG with superheroes and their conventions so maybe this could be a true palet cleanser.... but I worry it could just cement the public's fatigue with the genre. Unless it's awesome.
Goldboink
Goldboink - 3/12/2024, 10:02 PM
@rychlec - It will be awesome and give them an opportunity to admit that many of the recent films were not great. Breaking the 4th wall is almost a necessary catharsis to help get over Quantumania and Eternals.

Marvel needs to laugh at themselves to get past the last couple of years and hopefully comeback with some quality again. Hopefully.

@valmic - And, either fully reboot, or...go for side heroes...shung chi, which they could bring in the Immortal Iron Fist into, EASY, or...you know...continue on those lines...real, gritty, etc...Or, reboot. [frick]ing choose.

I dare them to joke about how woke Marvel became
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 3/13/2024, 5:53 AM
@vectorsigma - What will they do next? A movie starring a pansexual hero joking about being pegged? Featuring hetero characters from the comics that are now in lesbians with each other (Yukio and Negasonic Twenty-something Warhead) a newly created Indian sidekick, a blind old woman and a race-swapped Domino?
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 3/13/2024, 5:54 AM
@vectorsigma - Maybe they'll make a joke about how fans blame everything on woke because they are easily manipulated culture war victims.
vectorsigma
vectorsigma - 3/13/2024, 6:15 AM
@ObserverIO - these are being woke and tbh, part of the fun in the previous DP movies. This is pandering the right way. Not the phase 4-present kind of pandering where it didnt have anything in value. Oh, Cassie is an activist all of a sudden, but nothing was shown to at least build on that character arc. Oh, Kahhori just became an uber powerful character with no buildup. And dont forget Giah.

As ive said, they need to joke about those, on how these wasted attempt at pandering ruined the brand. Aside from poor writing and direction, this is part of the problem and NOT the sole one as your other comment have claimed.
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 3/13/2024, 7:02 AM
@vectorsigma - Yeah, I suppose that's fair.
JonC
JonC - 3/13/2024, 5:32 PM
@vectorsigma - you know they do introduce characters and then cover their backstory later... such as captain marvel, etc.
JonC
JonC - 3/13/2024, 5:35 PM
@vectorsigma - i guess the fact that the MCU is based on marvel comics which covers all demographics got by you... its not being woke, its covering what you already do in comics and seeing what the audience likes... stick with what they do and drop what they don't... such as she hulk, based on series feedback she probably ain't getting her own movie anytime soon but you can expect her to cameo here and there.

If Deadpool or the TVA prune the OP Super-Skrulls from the Invasion then i am good with it... and they call out Kevin for it then even better.
