DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE Eyes Massive $360 Million Global Debut As Ryan Reynolds Downplays DEADPOOL 4 Possibility

Deadpool & Wolverine arrives in theaters across the globe this weekend and, according to Deadline, it's currently eyeing a $160 million - $170 million debut in North America for the biggest R-Rated opening ever.

The last Marvel Studios movie to be released on the big screen, The Marvels, debuted with $46.1 million in the U.S. and $110 million worldwide.

The trade adds that Deadpool & Wolverine is eyeing a $180 million - $190 million international debut, meaning the threequel's predicted global bow currently stands at $340 million - $360 million. That's an epic start and we wouldn't be shocked to see the movie ultimately exceed expectations over the coming days.

You'll no doubt recall predictions of a $200 million opening weekend a few weeks ago and the trade believes that's still possible if Deadpool & Wolverine overperforms. The R-Rating will be factor as some parents will be understandably reluctant to take their kids to see Wade Wilson and Logan tearing into each other both physically and verbally.

Even if Deadpool & Wolverine opens on the lower end with $340 million worldwide, it will still be way ahead of Deadpool ($264 million), Deadpool 2 ($263 million), and DC's Joker ($243 million).

Needless to say, numbers like these are bound to get fans speculating about a possible Deadpool 4. Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon yesterday, Ryan Reynolds downplayed the possibility.

"Oh god no," the actor said when asked if a fourth instalment is happening. "My wife and children will divorce me. Jimmy, I have no prenup with any of them. I will be capital 'B' broke, and in turn, probably then doing 'Deadpool 4' 'cause I’d need the money."

Asked if Taylor Swift will play Dazzler, Reynolds responded "I wish," suggesting she could instead pick up where he leaves off. "If I ever stop, she’d make a good Deadpool," he joked.

Check out the full interview below.

Shawn Levy directs Deadpool & Wolverine, which stars Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Matthew Macfadyen, and Dafne Keen. The movie is written by Ryan Reynolds & Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick & Zeb Wells & Shawn Levy.

The trades have confirmed that Jennifer Garner will reprise her role as Elektra, with Wesley Snipes, James Marsden, Famke Janssen, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Channing Tatum, Blake Lively, singer Taylor Swift, and even a Hulk now among those rumoured or expected to make an appearance.

Kevin Feige, Reynolds, Levy and Lauren Shuler Donner produce with Louis D’Esposito, Wendy Jacobson, Mary McLaglen, Josh McLaglen, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, George Dewey, Simon Kinberg and Jonathon Komack Martin serving as executive producers.

Deadpool & Wolverine arrives in theaters on July 26.

Is No Way Home the last superhero movie, to hit the billion dollar mark? I wonder if this will have enough legs to do it.

@99OPTIMISTPRIME - No Way Home was definitely nearing 2billion. It had a pretty strong run. I definitely see this having strong legs. "Alien: Romulus" and "Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice" might it a slight chip in it's box office run. But you have an entire two months of standing tall. Marvel was smart with this release window.

@99OPTIMISTPRIME - it will have legs for sure because the PG version is prepared already

@99OPTIMISTPRIME - I saw the movie this morning(perks of being close friends with someone who owns a couple of Malco's in the area) it's a fun film but it's not anything anyone would remember after seeing it once.I left enjoying it like I said...but it's been way overhyped.

@99OPTIMISTPRIME - There’s no way this doesn’t top 1bil.

I’d argue this will beat every R rated film by popularity alone.

@vectorsigma - I really didn't see this massive effect that will be felt in the MCU after seeing it.It felt just like the past two Deadpool movies with Fox characters thrown in and 1 "surprise".

If someone liked the tone of Deadpool 1 and 2 they'll love this but if they are going into the movie expecting this huge setup for the MCU they are going to be HIGHLY disappointed.

@99OPTIMISTPRIME - I been saying NO from Day One. No other Deadpool movie got even close 1 billion both movies did around 780 million worldwide. Logan and all X-Men movies did even less.

@vectorsigma - It's a fun movie though if you like DP 1 and 2...and the Fox adds were good ...but yea I was pretty surprised after seeing it that it wasn't any big implications...the movie could just as well be its own thing.I think some folks are going to be in for a big letdown going into the movie if they are expecting that.

Apophis71 - 7/24/2024, 9:53 AM
@JackBurton1 - Even when the DP films were still supposed to connect to the Fox franchise only they were always their own thing and this should have been the same (and mostly only connected to the FoxMen) so anyone thinking this would be anything other than that were always daft...

...the most, in regard to wider connection, this should have is setting up a couple of characters in a way they can appear in Secret Wars and maybe to a lesser degree put on film (that has only realy been covered in Loki's show prior) the idea entire timeline can be wiped out of existance thus establishing the threat level for the Avengers films.

High budget, high marketing costs will need this to get at least 1B to have decent profit.

My guess is 800+M
Deadinside
Deadinside - 7/23/2024, 3:32 PM
@vectorsigma - With a supposed budget of $250M it appears that they would have to hit, at least, $750M to break even, so, $800M would be okay, I guess...! ☮️🙂
TheShellyMan
TheShellyMan - 7/23/2024, 4:28 PM

I mean, if they want to include Deadpool in future films, here are two options:
1. Have Wade keep the mask on more, and thus allow Ryan to mainly play him via voice-acting.
2. Have Wade get seriously injured at the beginning of said next film, and have his healing factor give him a Doctor Who-sequel regeneration to account for the change in actor.
TheVisionary25
TheVisionary25 - 7/23/2024, 1:47 PM
@asherman93 - the first option is more likely.

MarvelZombie616 - 7/23/2024, 2:00 PM
Deadline.com predicted Twisters, Inside Out 2 and almost every other blockbuster in the last two months way too low.

Deadpool & Wolverine will open to at least $190 million domestic, more likely $200+ million.
Internationally it will make even more than in the USA and Canada.
I wouldn't be surprized about a $400-$450 million worldwide opening weekend.
TheShellyMan
TheShellyMan - 7/23/2024, 4:29 PM

People are going to be so disappointed. Not saying the movie will be bad, but the hype on this is way too high. Calm down.

@Shivermetimbers - This statement is chronic. I’ve seen, heard or read the exact same opinion over countless times based on dozens of films. It’s cliche. It doesn’t matter what the majority of people think about the movie. What matters is your own experience. I am hyped, way over hyped for this movie and I know it will deliver because I’m going to thoroughly enjoy every minute of it. Hype, reviews, opinions, criticisms, none of these matter whilst you are watching the movie. A movie is an experience, just enjoy it for what it is - entertainment. Entertainment doesn’t always have to reach or surpass expectations. Sometimes what you get is enough.

@TheMetaMan - You also claimed you already saw it and named wrong cameos ... So I can't help but wonder what your motivation is.
Shivermetimbers
Shivermetimbers - 7/23/2024, 5:12 PM
@TheMetaMan - but hype and expectations DO affect the viewing experience. I agree with the majority of what you are saying regarding just take it for what it is, but a persons context filter will always affect their perception. I’m excited for it too, but people are acting like it is gods gift to CBMs before even watching it. Those people might want to adjust their expectations appropriately so they can just enjoy it for whatever it is.
