PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS Star Walker Scobell Responds To Rumors He'll Play Kidpool In DEADPOOL 3

There's been speculation for months now that Walker Scobell will appear in Deadpool 3, and we asked the actor about a possible cameo during the recent Percy Jackson and the Olympians press conference...

Walker Scobell made a name for himself in movies like Secret Headquarters and The Adam Project, holding his own on screen with the likes of Owen Wilson and Ryan Reynolds. Now, though, he's set to take centre stage in Disney+'s Percy Jackson and the Olympians

Back in September, Reynolds sent Marvel fans into a frenzy when he liked an X post suggesting Scobell could play Kidpool in Deadpool 3. Since then, it's widely been accepted the young actor will be among the many Deadpool Variants that appear in the threequel next summer.

In the comics, Kidpool is an alternate reality version of Deadpool as a child who debuted in the Deadpool Corps series. Known for his youthful exuberance, Kidpool possesses similar regenerative abilities and a penchant for chaos.

During the global press conference for Percy Jackson and the Olympians, we asked Scobell - who went viral for reeling off the Merc with Mouth's R-Rated monologue - whether working with actors of Wilson and Reynolds' caliber helped prepare him to lead this series. However, we also wondered whether he's hoping to reunite with them (the former is rumoured to reprise his Loki role as Mobius) in Deadpool 3

Check out the full exchange in the player below.

Walker, I was wondering, how much did working with actors like Ryan Reynolds and Owen Wilson on previous projects as a young actor help prepare you to take centre stage in a series like this one? And is there a chance we might see you reunite with those guys in Deadpool 3?

Walker Scobell: Um...

Leah Sava Jeffries: [Laughs]

Walker Scobell: Not that I know of, but, uh, I think I learned a lot of valuable lessons from them that I used while filming Percy Jackson. And, um, yeah, I'm not sure—I'm hopefully to reunite someday, but, uh, yeah, I don't know.

Jonathan Steinberg: You wanna do the [Deadpool] monologue? [LAUGHS]

Walker Scobell: I would, but since it's Disney+...

Jonathan Steinberg: Gotcha.

Aryan Simhadri: Ah, yeah.

We'd recommend watching the video above to see whether you think Scobell is telling the truth, though it would be surprising if he and Reynolds don't reunite in the upcoming Marvel Studios threequel given their history.

Alongside Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, Deadpool franchise vets Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Stefan Kapicic (Colossus), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio), and Rob Delaney (Peter) are all confirmed to return in Deadpool 3.

Emma Corrin is expected to play Cassandra Nova, while Matthew Macfadyen will likely take on the role of a TVA agent named Paradox. It's also been confirmed that Jennifer Garner will reprise her role as Elektra, with Wesley Snipes, James Marsden, Famke Janssen, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Dafne Keen, and even singer Taylor Swift among those rumoured to appear.

Deadpool 3 is set to be released in theaters on July 26, 2024.

Based on Disney Hyperion’s best-selling book series by award-winning author Rick Riordan, 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians' follows Percy Jackson on a dangerous quest. Outrunning monsters and outwitting gods, he must journey across America to return Zeus’ master bolt and stop an all-out war. After losing his mother, Percy is sheltered at Camp Half-Blood, a sanctuary for demigod children.

He must prove himself and confront his origins once he discovers he too is a demigod, and will take off into the perils of pursuing enemies in search of the Underworld. With the help of his quest mates Annabeth and Grover, Percy’s journey will lead him closer to the answers he seeks: how to fit into a world where he feels out of place, if he'll ever see his mother again, and if he can ever find out who he’s destined to be.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians launches with a two-episode premiere on December 20 on Disney+.

So many Deadpool rumors, I'm getting tired of the whole thing. I hope that most of these rumors are false, and we get a lot of surprises instead of a mashup where everything has been spoiled ahead of time.

@DocSpock - So instead of James Marsden as Cyclops and Miles Teller as The Maker you'd rather be surprised with David Duchovny as Fox Mulder and Sigourney Weaver as Ripley?

@ObserverIO -

I do not understand. But that's normal for me.

This variant thing is exhausting. Tying in other established Marvel universes, like Sony’s Spiderman movies and Fox’s X-Men movies is one thing. We’ve gotten to know those characters. I really couldn’t care less about alternate versions of the heroes we know. Deadpool 3 may pull this off, but the more random multiverse nonsense we hear about in this, the less interesting it is.

If he ended up playing Kidpool I wonder if that would also require him to wear beneath the mask the same prosthetics Reynolds has to use for the character's scarred skin. Or we'll just recognize him due to his voice?

For the time being I'm going with him not playing said role.
