Deathlok is one of those characters that not too many non-comic readers (and a few who are) no next to nothing about. Created in 1974 by Rich Buckler and Doug Moench, he first appeared in Astonishing tales #25. From there, he went on to star in numerous spin-offs, numerous iterations, and has become a personal favourite, turning me into a hunter tryin to find his old stuff. Anywayz, I think that Deathlok is one of those characters that would be extremely successful in the world of live-action, wether it be on the big screen or the small. Here are just a couple reasons why:
1. One of the most popular genres of film and television around is science fiction, and for good reasons. Deathlok is sci-fi to the bone. In nearly every version, he is a half man, half robot cyborg. Originally set in the futuristic 1990 (lol) the stories have always been full of high flying action, futuristic weaponry, and just pure awesomeness! This is a character I believe people would have a hard time not enjoy watching!
2. With the many different versions of deathloks that have appeared over the years, some very interesting ideas could be played out in a live action series. If they went down the movie row, they could do a set of trilogies, starting with the first deathlok, luther manning. This would be a good way of having the many versions of deathlok onscreen, and they would be able to show their beginnings and ends, as each version has come to some sort of an end in the comics, (ie luther mannings so-called death and michael collins being turned back to human). The same could be done with a tv show, having the first couple seasons devoted to manning, moving to the next every so many seasons!
Well, to me, creating a live action deathlok seems like a no brainer. But thats just me, tell me wut you guys think!
