Benedict Cumberbatch Says DOCTOR STRANGE "Is Another Moment In Marvel's Evolution"
Marvel's Phase Three will officially kick off with Captain America: Civil War, and according to Benedict Cumberbatch, nothing will change the way we view the MCU like Scott Derrickson's Doctor Strange.

Marvel's Phase Three seems to be the most interesting set of films we have yet to see, and from the what we can tell, it's all uncharted territory for Marvel as well. Captain America: Civil War will change the way we view the heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Black Panther will take us on a journey through Wakanda, Captain Marvel will introduce to us the first female led Marvel film, and Doctor Strange will showcase the more magical side of the MCU.
In a recent interview with Empire Online, Benedict Cumberbatch spoke about how Doctor Strange is a hero unlike anyone we have ever seen from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “It’s a very different feel, different hero and different set of circumstances to what we’ve seen before,” said Cumberbatch. “It’s another moment during Marvel’s evolution.” There's no doubt about that. Doctor Strange doesn't necessarily start out as your typical hero who wants to save the world, and the doctor is often viewed as a more of an arrogant and egotistical person than Tony Stark at the start of the MCU.
Director Scott Derrickson then spoke about the world of Doctor Strange and how the visuals alone would certainly make the film stand out from anything previously done. “We felt free to go as far as we could imagine,” he elaborates, “so we’re doing a lot of things that I think have not been done before. Once we’d crossed a certain line we just kept going.”
