Deadline reports that Doctor Strange scored $14.9 million yesterday for a projected $43 million three day haul. That's a figure which will see the Sorcerer Supreme easily triumph over Marvel's last November release Thor: The Dark World (which earned $36.6 million during its second weekend back in 2013). As a result, Doctor Strange - which has so far earned $153 million in North America - is pacing ahead of the sequel which ultimately ended up scoring a total haul of $206.4 million. It's doing well!

Trolls is hot on the movie's heels with an estimated $34.8 million, but Doctor Strange will obviously emerge victorious and remain at #1. Unfortunately, it faces off with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them next week, a movie which will definitely take the top spot regardless of how the reviews are.

One release doing better than expected this weekend is Denis Villeneuve's (Blade Runner 2049) Arrival. The excellent sci-fi movie scored $9.3 million and is now looking at a $23.4 million weekend as a result. A possible Oscars contender, it stars Man of Steel's Amy Adams and The Avengers' Jeremy Renner.
