Judging by the first batch of instant reactions from the U.S. press screening of Doctor Strange, it sure sounds like Marvel Studios has done it again as the Scott Derrickson-directed film is receiving near universal acclaim from all sides, with the psychedelic visuals receiving special mention from practically every attendee.

As for the cast, Benedict Cumberbatch is getting a lot of love for his portrayal of the Sorcerer Supreme, with some critics even favorably likening his performance as Strange to Robert Downey Jr.'s take on Tony Stark. Tilda Swinton, who plays The Ancient One, also gets a couple shoutouts, and on another note it sounds like Marvel may have finally solved their villain problem, as there don't seem to be any complaints about Mads Mikkelsen's Kaecilius.

The reactions also provide confirmation that there will indeed be two post-credits scenes, which will tease the grand future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Check out the early reactions below:

Marvel’s Doctor Strange follows the story of the talented neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a tragic car accident, must put ego aside and learn the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions. Based in New York City’s Greenwich Village, Doctor Strange must act as an intermediary between the real world and what lies beyond, utilising a vast array of metaphysical abilities and artifacts to protect the Marvel cinematic universe.

Doctor Strange features:
Director: Scott Derrickson
Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange/Doctor Strange
Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Karl Mordo
Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One
Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer
Mads Mikkelsen as Kaecilius

I saw the 15 minute preview a few weeks ago, and honestly I didn't want to jinx the film and go crazy. So I kept it all my feelings in. It is visually dense, I mean, my jaw was open the entire 15 minutes. Hearing these reactions, especially from David Ehrlich and Jeff Cannata makes me very HAPPY!

@solargeknowles - All those articles sound like critics went in with low expectations and the film was slightly better than what they're expecting. I'm expecting a typical Marvel movie where you walk out thinking it was cool, but on reflection you realise at its heart is just another paint by numbers movie with some ridiculous story decisions.
