After the failure of 2011's Green Lantern, hope for the possible franchise has seemed bleak. There has been talk of another movie, but most people just want a reboot. But I don't think its needed. Green Lantern had everything perfect, besides the director and script. So I think with those two things, a better villain, and better focus, a sequel could be fantastic.

1. Have J.J. Abrams Direct It

Having Martin Campbell direct the first one was a huge mistake. They need to bring in someone who can handle a space movie, and a large supporting cast. And who better than the creator of Star Trek and Lost? The man is fantastic, and could triumphantly bring this franchise out of the trash.

2. Have Geoff Johns And Bruce Timm Write The Script

Another problem with the first movie was the awful script. They'd be wise to bring in Geoff Johns. Considering he wrote for Green Lantern, he knows it backwards and forwards, and would be perfect to write the script. Bruce Timm on the other hand, didn't write for Green Lantern, but knows the DC universe backwards and forwards. He's vastly overlooked, and would be perfect to co-write the sequel.

3. Keep Sinestro As The Villain

Its inevitable that Sinestro will be the next villain. And thats a good thing. Mark Strong was amazing as Sinestro. Not only will Sinestro bring more interest to the movie, but his corps gives way to other characters like Saint Walker and the Blue Lantern Corps.

4. Bring In The Blue Lanterns

One of the most important things to do with Green Lantern movies, is expand the universe. And the perfect way to start is with the Blue Lantern Corps. The guardians of the universe weren't well depicted in the first movie, the seemed more like curmudgeonly midgets than deciders of the fate of the universe. They'd have to expand upon them more, if Ganthet and Sayd are to start their corps. And David Tennant would be an amazing Saint Walker.

5. Keep The Focus In Space

Another major mistake from the first movie, the movie needs to be kept in space, not Earth. Oa was amazing in the movie, but it's scenes were limited. Sinestro isn't an Earth villain, and Green Lantern isn't an Earth hero. Don't force them onto one planet. It could also give way to a small Lobo cameo.

6. Kyle Rayner Instead of John Stewart

I'm not fond of the idea of bring in another human lantern, but if they must, John Stewart would be a mistake. Kyle Rayner on the other hand, would probably be better received. Most people like Rayner, and he could easily be a fan favorite. Save John Stewart for the fourth movie, should the series be successful.

I think that all that, and some after credit cameos (preferably Atrocitus), could make this sequel work.

I'm with ya, buddy. This is all solid to me.

Although, I'd say leave Bruce Timm out of it. Nothing against him but Geoff Johns can handle it himself. I'm a firm believer in a single writer with a singular vision.

Yeah, I say do a Hulk to Incredible Hulk style move. Where is a reboot, but don't worry about origin or anything like that.

Personally, JJ would be great, but he is tied to Paramount, so would need someone else.

Sinestro and Hal need their relationship explored in greater detail before he becomes the villain almost like a Anakin and Obi Wan style where see the progression from idealist to dictator of worlds.

@Knightride I doubt an H to IH move would work for the lanterns. It only worked for Hulk because hes a stand alone. People would get confused if it was a reboot within continuity.

@AcidicHeart It was within continuity in the sense that it built off of the The Hulk, so that another origin movie wasn't necessary.

All valid points. Although on expanding the universe, I would have gone Atrocitus and the Red Lanterns, make Atrocitus the main villain and Sinestro the secondary. Because of Atrocitus' grudge, his arrival would force the earth Lantern (be it Jordan, Stewart, Gardnir, or Rayner) into an uneasy alliance...but that's just me.

7. Motion capture for the corps instead of CG. This is just me, but I feel that motion capture is better for acting than CG, because then you get how the actors move with their lines.

I'd rather o John Stewart replace Hal while he's battling the Sinestro corps. This would add more diversity to the DCcU. I also think that Kyle Reyner shouldn't be introduced until after Hal becomes paralaxx and destroys coast city.

Yeah, I'm sorry, but I want a reboot. That's it. Nuff said. Also don't know why everyone has a hard one for Stewart. Hal and Kyle are as good as characters. Why do all you people with boners for Stewart want him to fight off Sinestro and all this shit alone. Here's an idea. In a reboot or (hopefully not) sequel introduce the other Lanterns of Earth and have them work, here it comes... TOGETHER.

The Parallax stuff was complete shit and almost destroyed Hal.

I like these ideas. I still don't know about bringing in another lantern yet though, and if they do, I would like to see Guy Gardiner. I love the dialogue between him and Hal in the comics.

But isn't Sinestro going rouge a big story arc that may need time to develop filmwise?

Ditch Hal, he's a shit character.

I personally like him more than John, Kyle and Guy.

Of course GL2 is supposed to follow more closely the development of animosity between Siniestro and the rest of the Corp. Hopefully it is a more intergalactic film. Towards the end, Hal is incapacitated and 'its revealed that there were two individuals matching the specified criteria on Earth, the other being Guy Gardner, and the ring chose Jordan solely because of his proximity to Abin Sur. Gardner then became listed as Hal's "backup", in case there was an instance in which Jordan was unavailable or otherwise incapacitated.'

I think that introducing a new Green Lantern in the 2nd movie is the best way to go.

This really only has any bearing if we want to stay close to the source material. All in all i believe that there definitely should NOT be a reboot and that the GL franchise can still take off even after Hal Jordan.
