 Batman FanCast

In my second article on CBM, I cast the Caped Crusader and his allies and rogue's, providing my reasoning along the way.

Director
DARREN ARONOFSKY

Darren Aronofsky is a character director. He is famous for this thought and insight with his lead roles. I am convinced that Aronofsky would meticulously craft out the perfect Batman. His films "are well known for their often violent, bleak subject matter." Isnt this Batman and his environment. Gotham overridden with violence, a bleak prospect to live in. A dark movie, but a very sophistacated one. It's Aronofsky written all over it guys.

Writing
STEPHEN MOFFAT/NIC PIZZOLATTO

Moffat is one of the talented main writers in Sherlock, a great detective show. Sherlock is portaryed as a great mind, and and even greater detective. This is what the Nolan films failed to show us. Batman should be giving Sherlock pointers. With Moffat on board, we should finally see the Wold's Greatest Detective. Pizzolatto is head writer on True Detective, a crazygood show. Its full of intelligent writing, and shocking twists. It keeps you wanting more. Batman's comics were written like this, and his movies should be too.

Cinematography
MATTHEW LIBATIQUE

Libatique and Aronofsky are peas in a pod. I can't be without the other. This movie should be no different. Libatique's works are like Aronofsky movies. Dark and sophisticated. No way anyone else gets this gig.

Casting

Bat Family and Allies

Bruce Wayne/Batman
RICHARD ARMITAGE

There's something about these British actors. Armitage was my backup pick for Dr Strange, but I wanted him to have a premier superhero role. There's something about him that makes you turn and look. He has massive gravitas, and commands respect. His suaveness could easily portray Bruce Wayne, but its his emotion and range that makes me convinced he could play Batman too. A Batman that would be a hero for Gotham, and a Batman crooks feared and prayed not to be confronted by.

Selina Kyle/Catwoman
RACHEL WEISZ

The "consequence" of casting an older Batman is you have to find an older Catwoman. No No problem however, as Weisz immediatly fit the bill. She's still sexy, but classy as well. In the comics Catwoman was both, but in Nolan's trilogy was all class but (no offense to Anne Hathaway) not sexy. Inthe Arkham games its the exact opposite. Weisz could take this role and run with it. It would be a new breed of Cat. A changing breed. Change is good.

Alfred Pennyworth
SEAN CONNERY

He was the original Bond. 'Nuff said.

Lucius Fox
GLYNN TURMAN

Lucius Fox in the Nolan trilogy was the supplier. His sole job was to get Wayne new toys. And even though God, I mean Morgan Freeman, did an admirable job, there was alot of potential for the character. Turman is a veteran actor, and a pioneer for Afro-American actors. Lucius should have the same reverence that Turman has in real life. He would be another voice guiding Bruce to becoming Gotham protecter and savior.

Luke Fox/Batwing
JOHN BOYEGA

So Batwing's a relatively new character, but I like were there going with it. This one is the second Batwing, the first one wouldnt fit well here. Boyega is already a star in my eyes. He was amazing in Attack the Block, and I recommend it to everyone. Luke Fox is an MMA star in the comics, and Boyega is already has a pretty good build for this. I'm actually more worried about if Boyega can handle the physical stuff more than the acting, which shows his chops.

Kate Kane/Batwoman
KATEE SACKHOFF

Batwoman's kinda weird, in the fact that she's basically the female Tony Stark. The ladies lady I guess you could call it? But she's all types of badass no doubt. And when I think of badass female characters, I think of Starbuck, from BSG. She was the first person to protect her kin. The alpha female. Sackhoff did an amazing job, and I think the same person being Batwoman would be awe inspiring.

Commish. Gordon
DENNIS QUIAD

You dont really hear about Quiad nowadays, but his last movie was Movie 43 so....that's kinda on him. But forgeting that abomination, he's a really great actor.  Gary Oldman's Commish, while great, never stuck me as badass. Quiad is the opposite. He looks awesome always. Like he just kicked a lion in the face or broke a shark's jaw with his hands. That's Gordon right there.

              Barbara Gordon/Batgirl
KATE MARA

Batgirl, NOT Oracle is what I'm casting here. Kate Mara was pretty good in House of Cards playing the mistress. Her role here is nothing like that. Gordon is the smiley, loose one. A wild child. Being a mistress can be pretty wild so I guess the role have a little in common. Anyways, Mara would be the most established actress out of my picks so that's why I chose her. She's a little old for the role, but its ok.

Thomas Wayne
HUGH DANCY

Yup, BatDad got onto this FanCast. Even though he isnt going to have a huge role, I still needed an actor with huge range to play the elder Wayne. The Nolan trilogy featured him, but he was a little underused. Thomas was HUGE, I mean HUGE to Bruce. Not just a regular ol Joe. He needs an actor that can be caring, thoughtful, stern, wise, genius, relatable, etc. Someoe with huge range. Dancy has this type of acting, and he looks like Thomas too. A win win.

The Robins

1. Dick Grayson/Nightwing
ROBERT SHEENAN

Ah, the original. Dick Grayson has a special relationship with Bruce, because of the extra amount they've spent together compared to the  others. There has to be massive respect between each other. I believe Shennan could convey this respect and the rest of the Nightwing persona. The selfless protecter of Bludhaven, and a leader. Shennan is already a sorta leader on Misfits, so this wouldnt be a stretch.

2. Jason Todd/Red Hood
EZRA MILLER

I wasnt sure whether to put Todd as an ally or a villian, and I want it to be this way in the movies. Jason would already be the Red Hood mantra. Ezra Miller is an actor that has this crazy (in a good way) kinda uneasy apperance.  In We Need to Talk About Kevin, this is showcased. I want this in Red Hood. Crazed, passionate, but not necassarily a villian but definently not a friend. A Vigilante.

3. Tim Drake/Red Robin
ASA BUTTERFIELD

Man, this Robin has to be my favorite. And this is the easiest role to cast in spades. Butterfield's audition for this role was Ender's Game. An angsty teen genius? Come on, its like they knew. Butterfield has the type of onscreen attitude for Tim Drake. A compuer whiz whose better then you. He just is. He has the cockiness and the brain to back it up though. He's Freaking Tim  Drake in the flesh.

4. Damian Wayne/Robin
DYLAN SPRAYBERRY

Now, in my defense, I thought Sprayberry was younger. He's creditted as being 13 in Man of Steel, but is actually 16. But I still see him as young rising actor. This Robin in the comics is devious/malicous and a MAJOR a-hole, needing guidance. I want this in these movies, and this should be a good oppurtunity for Sprayberry to perfect his craft and learn from an ensemble cast of actors.

Great casting, dude! Armitage is one of my main candidates for Bruce, too. Also love the idea of Weisz as Catwoman. And Ezra Miller! Can't go wrong with him!
