Dead Wednesday: Zombie Comic book Idea

Dead Wednesday: Zombie Comic book Idea

My premise to my original zombie comic book idea along with character bios. There's a lot of funny aspects to it but just fyi, I came up with this idea long before Zombieland came out so don't say it sounds like them. If it does, it's a coincidence, I assure you.

Dead Wednesday follows the story of five ragtag individuals that banded together after zombies attacked one Wednesday morning (the eponymous 'Dead Wednesday' as it became known as). The group consists of Zeke, Father Wolf, Samurai Bob, Ax, and Lil' Missy. Each of them found unique ways to survive the zombie attack and ended up running into each other in search of refuge from the undead onslaught. As they find each other, they decide to team up to make their way to a local high school which Zeke said would be a 'fortress during the zombie apocalypse' due to it's supplies, utilities, and security system. However, soon after holding out in the high school that same day, their fortress is quickly overrun by zombies after a truck crashes through their wall. After successfully fending them off and escaping in a Special Education Transport aka 'The Short Bus', they find that the FEMA shelters and the National Guard have been overrun by zombies. Due to Zeke describing any emergency plan the government would have as 'zombie bait' and the individuals wanting to pursue their own agendas, the group decides to band together and search for their loved ones. The group now travels across the zombie ridden country and searches for their family and friends while helping others to survive the aftermath of Dead Wednesday and the zombie apocalypse. In their travels, they find refugees, gangs, rogue military personnel, survivalists, and of course, lots and lots zombies. During this time, they become collectively known as "The Slayers", due to their numerous run-ins with zombies, by the people they've met along the way. They're constantly on the move and rely on each other to survive, waiting for the day to come when they can find a new home without the fear of being eaten by zombies.

Zeke
Real name: Ezekiel Romero
Age on Dead Wednesday: 21
Occupation: Student/Comic Book Store Clerk
Signature Weapon: Aluminum Baseball Bat
Backstory: Famously known as 'Zeke the Zombie Slayer', Zeke was a student at North Springfield Community College (NorS) and lived in an apartment complex until Dead Wednesday. After his parents' death in a car accident while he was very young, he was raised by his grandmother. He was very bright growing up and was planning on leaving North Springfield to pursue higher education at an out of state university but when his grandmother was stricken with illness, he chose to stay at home and take care of her while settling for the local community college. After spending most of his college fund to help pay for his grandmother's medical bills, he was unable to afford an out of state college after his grandmother's passing and was stuck in North Springfield. Becoming disheartened and believing that he will be unable to fulfill his goals in life, he became apathetic and a slacker who spent most of his time reading comic books and watching zombie movies. However, unlike most individuals who were terrified when the undead attacked, Zeke saw it as his opportunity to put his knowledge to good use and finally live up to his full potential in the wake of the zombie apocalypse. Zeke was attacked by his landlord and other residents at his apartment complex and escaped after setting his apartment on fire. He had gathered supplies he believed would be useful in a zombie attack and fled to his friends' house to rescue them and take them to North Springfield High School which he saw as a 'fortress during the zombie apocalypse'. However, his friends had all been exposed to the zombie virus by the time they got there and he was quickly on his own. On his way to the high school, he met up with Father Wolf and Lil' Missy and persuaded them to join him. After arriving at the high school, they meet up with Samurai Bob and Ax before the school is overrun by zombies. Unlike the others, Zeke has no loved ones to search for and is simply hoping to educate any living people they find on how to survive the zombie apocalypse. Zeke is also the only one of the group who actually enjoys zombie killing and sees the zombie apocalypse as a new chance to make something of his life. He becomes the unofficial leader of the group due to his advanced knowledged in zombie survival. Though he eventually utilizes a baseball bat as his primary weapon, Zeke is resourceful and can adapt to his environment, seeing anything and everything as a potential tool in zombie killing which earned him the title of "Zombie Slayer".

Father Wolf
Real name: Tobias Wolf
Age on Dead Wednesday: 30
Occupation: Priest
Signature weapon: S&W 1911 pistol (eventually wields two)
Backstory: Sometimes known by his moniker as 'The Priest with a Pistol', Wolf was a priest at the Word of Christ Catholic Church until Dead Wednesday. Tobias left on the doorstep of the Sisters of Charity Orphanage as a baby by his mother who nuns believed to be a local drug addict. He was raised by the nuns and closely monitored by Father Cross who became a mentor to him. Despite this, he became rebellious and fell in with the local hoodlums. Every time he ran away from the orphanage, Cross dragged him back against his will. When he was 18, he left for good and spent time with his criminal friends and made a living selling marijuana and stolen goods. He was approached by Cross numerous times who hoped to help him change his ways and bring him back to God. As a mocking gesture to Cross, he 'proved his devotion to God' by getting a large, ornate cross tattooed on his back. He was in a relationship with one of the local hoodlum girls and fell in love. They were going to elope before she was gunned down while caught in Wolf's line of work. It was this event that lead to Wolf returning to the church and join the priesthood. Wolf worked at the same orphanage he grew up in and was transferred to the Word of Christ Church about two months before Dead Wednesday. The church was in a dangerous neighborhood and in bad shape and Wolf's superiors believed that his previous experience would allow him to clean it up. He dealt with the local hoodlums and helped to keep the church running. On Dead Wednesday, three of the local thugs came to the church for refuge when it was attacked by zombies. Father Wolf was forced to fight off the zombies and was the only survivor of the church attack. He took a gun from one of the dead thugs and used it to defend himself from the zombies and met Zeke after saving him from being eaten. Wolf initially thinks Zeke to be a fool but is later impressed with his knowledge and abilities. He justifies killing zombies as not breaking his vows because "they're already dead". Wolf's mission is to return to the orphanage he once ran and protect the children from the zombies. Wolf has surprised his fellow Slayers through his smoking, drinking, cynical attitude, dark humor, knowledge of battle wounds, and advanced skill with numerous street weapons. When asked about any of these, he has a penchant for responding with "I wasn't always a priest". Despite his odd habits, Tobias acts as the moral center of the group and is a spiritual counselor to all of them.

Lil' Missy
Real name: Melissa Webster
Age on Dead Wednesday: 12
Occupation: Student
Signature weapon: 12 gauge Ruger shotgun
Backstory: Known as the '12 year old with the 12 gauge', Lil' Missy is the youngest of the group. Despite being raised in a trailer park by her redneck father, she has shown to have a high I.Q. and has developed very classy and sophisticated habits well beyond her years and upbringing. She loves to read, play piano and violin, and was learning to speak French. Her parents are divorced and have joint custody her. She has lived with her father through her middle school years and was going to live with her mother who remarried a wealthy businessman for her high school years. Though her father is poorly educated and has few things in common with her, she is closer to him than her mother and is sad to be moving out after she finishes middle school. She was in her trailer reading during Dead Wednesday. Her father went to help a friend who had been bitten by a zombie, unaware of the situation. When they realized what was going on, they held up in their trailer while the whole trailer park was filling up with zombies as the disease spread. Their trailer was surrounded with zombies and was in danger of getting tipped over. Her father gave her his shotgun (which had "Lil' Missy" inscribed on it) for protection and used himself as bait to lure the zombies away. Lil' Missy waited for him to return for an hour when Ax found her hiding in the trailer. He convinced her to leave the trailer and join him in meeting up with the National Guard for the evacuation. After meeting up with the National Guard, they rode in the back of trucks, driving through town to pick up more people. As people began flooding the truck, looking for a safety, the truck had to drive away from the unruly mob. One of the scared, desperate citizens grabbed on to Lil' Missy, accidentally pulling her off the truck. Here, she met up with Zeke and Father Wolf who were, at the time, fighting off zombies. She then surprised them both by pulling out a large shotgun and joining in the fight. They took her with them to the school where they met up with Samurai Bob and Ax. Lil' Missy is normally very calm and reserved but when fighting zombies, she becomes very aggressive and 'hardcore' as Zeke put it. Her mission is to find out if her father is still alive and eventually meet up with her mother so they can be a family again. Though she is the youngest of the group, she is also the most intelligent which comes in handy for basic survival tactics such as how to start a fire and properly reinforce a temporary shelter. She is also the most logical of the group, being the voice of reason.

Ax
Real name: Roy Rogers
Age on Dead Wednesday: 39
Occupation: Repairman
Signature weapon: Ax
Backstory: Ax was a family man with his own small business until Dead Wednesday. He was very down on his luck with a failing business and his wife legally separating with him and taking his son away with her out of town. He spent his days fixing people's houses and his nights drinking himself to sleep. He loved his wife and son very much but he and his wife only got married because she was pregnant and that lead to complications later on in life. He felt like a failure as a husband and father and was very depressed. On Dead Wednesday, he was doing a job at the Allendale Trailer Park (same one Lil' Missy lived in) when the zombies attacked. He was doing repairs on a trailer when its owner attacked him. He grabbed an ax he found lying around and used it to fight off the zombie. He was soon surrounded by a horde of the undead. He tried to escape in his truck but a man (Lil' Missy's father) ran out in front of his truck caused him to crash. He was unconcious for a while but woke up to his radio reporting on the zombie attack and how the National Guard was evacuating people. Zombies had started gathering around his truck, so he fought them off and made his escape. That's when he found Lil' Missy hiding in her trailer and convince her to follow him to safety. They caught up with the National Guard and soon after Lil' Missy was dragged out of the truck. After being taken to the FEMA shelter, Ax went back out with the National Guard and decided to look for Lil' Missy. He found her at the school with the others and joined them after it was overrun by zombies. Ax's mission is to reunite with his wife and son. Ax is a very large, muscular man who was so-named by Zeke after seeing him us an ax to fight off zombies (and his refusal to call him Roy Rogers). Ax has become a sort of father figure to the group, seeing them as his surrogate family and enjoying having someone to look after. He is a sort of gentle giant who would do anything to protect one of the group.

Samurai Bob
Real name: Robert Rosenstein
Age on Dead Wednesday: 17
Occupation: Student
Signature weapon: Katana
Backstory: Samurai Bob, sometimes called the 'Kung Fu Jew' was a nerdy high school student until Dead Wednesday. He was a chubby, lonely nerd who was really into japanese culture, especially the Samurai. At school, he was constantly teased by his peers and had very few friends. He retreated to his Manga comic books and old samurai movies at home. He bought some samurai weapons on eBay and trained himself to use them with surprising skill. He was home alone on Dead Wednesday while his parents were on their second honeymoon. Bob was terrified when the zombies first attacked his home and didn't know what to do. As one tried to bite him, he grabbed his sword and sliced its head clean off. Having used his sword in combat for the first time gave him a rush and made him feel like a real samurai. He put on a Rising Sun head band and a bathrobe to look more like a samurai as he defended his home from oncoming zombies. After hours of defending his house, they finally broke through and he had to flee. Not knowing where to go, he decided to hide out at his high school until he could figure out what to do. He killed the few zombies roaming the halls and waited. He was surprised by Zeke, Father Wolf, and Lil' Missy when they arrived and though was reluctant about letting people with guns into the school, he agreed to let them stay. He introduced himself as a samurai to the amusement of the others. When the truck crashed into the school and the zombies broke in, Samurai Bob grabbed the first set of bus keys he could find in the main office which turned out to be the keys to the Short Bus, much to the chagrin of the others. Though he takes his samurai lifestyle very seriously, he is a bit of a laughing stock in the rest of the group's eyes. He has unwittingly become the comic relief of the group due to his antics. He is also a practicing Jew which adds to the amusement of the others as they find it funny to see someone dressed like a samurai saying prayers in Hebrew. Despite his goofiness, Samurai Bob actually proves to be very skilled with a sword as well as the numerous other samurai weapons he wields. This has made him a very abled zombie slayer. He has vowed that if he is ever turned into a zombie, he will commit Hari Kari to maintain his honor. His mission is to reunite with his parents.

Here's a team pic of what they look like: I actually imagined Samurai Bob to look more like Jonah Hill from Superbad but I got too lazy to fix it so enjoy:

Haha thanks man. Yeah, I'm a little disappointed to find there haven't been too many comments on it. It may be due to the length of the writing, i dunno.

You could help advertise and spread the word and maybe I'll get more feedback.

Appreciate the compliments man.
