The Amazing Spider-Man sequel will be introducing new characters into the mix such as Mary Jane, Harry Osborne and Electro. But one character I would like to see come to life on the big screen from the Spidey universe is Detective Terri Lee. Many fans may know her from Spider-Man the animated series but for those who don't know, Detective Terri Lee is part of the NYPD that investigated cases that involved Spider-Man and Peter Parker to an extent. When she first encounters the wall crawler she doesn't trust him one bit simply because of what she has heard and read about him but over time she learns to trust and believe in him to become an ally for Spider-Man. So with the death of Captain Stacey in TASM someone has to step in and full in those shoes, why not Terri Lee. Spider-Man could use some sort of an ally in the Police Department to keep the heat off of him while he does his superhero thing.

So who should play Detective Terri Lee you say? Well none other than my girl Taraji P. Henson. Taraji is a well rounded diverse actress who has great credentials from starring in movies such as Baby Boy, Hustle & Flow to Smokin' Aces. Currently she stars on CBS hit crime drama show Person of Interest where she plays get this Detective Carter of the NYPD sound familiar people. If you've ever seen Person of Interest you'll know that she pretty much plays the same character in Joss Carter as Terri Lee if you think about. Carter and Lee both work for the NYPD, both work with vigilantes to solve cases and fight crime and both are strong black women put in an position of power that few and far between hold. Farther more I'd like to see a more diverse cast in comicbook movies, only person of color in TASM is Irrfan Khan who plays Dr. Ratha, it would be nice to get to see more complexity in these movies. Taraji would be great in TASM universe as Detective Terri Lee, she understands the genre having been to Comic Con indulging in the fandom while promoting Person of Interest.

Terri Lee was just a replacement for Jean DeWolff. Just put Jean in the movie and have her take over George Stacy's position as Police Captain. I would also say to hold off on killing her, as her relationship with Spidey should be built up for at least one movie in order to make her death more dramatic.

@BattlinMurdock can I just ask do you have something against spider-man or something? Because I've noticed a lot of the things you have said in about spider-man in spider-man related articles have been rather negative. I don't mean to come off as antagonistic or condescending, it's just a general observation

@SotoJuiceMan that was because of the censorship imposed on fox's marvel cartoons, in X-Men TAS wolverine couldn't use his claws which I still find very humorous

Yeah, Jean DeWolff should be the new Police Captain in the sequel. Terri Lee could be another named cop, or (if they chose to tie this into the Marvel Cinematic Universe via SHIELD) a SHIELD agent monitoring Spider-Man.

Actually, Terri Lee is a lieutenant anyway, so there's room for both characters in the NYPD, but DeWolff should be the main contact for Spidey in the police force, and the main police character in the film.

STAS from the 90s was heavily based on comic books, we have most of spidey's main foes. Mary Jane gets lost, we get the black suit saga ( a lot better adapted than what we got on Spiderman 3), there is also this storylines about vampires which involves blade, and detective lee? I Dont see how amazona Spiderman is better? It is actually a lot more childish.
