S P I D E R – M A N 5
The Amazing Spider-Man will be released in July and I’m sure it’s going to be outstanding. Had the Sam Raimi franchise not ended, this is the continuation of his Spider-Man series. If you haven’t read my previous article, in Spider-Man 4 businessman Adrian Toomes(Vulture), uncovered an ancient tablet that made him younger and stronger. Scientist Curt Conners turned himself into a lizard in an experiment. Conners gained control of his animal instincts and gave his life to save Spider-Man from the Vulture. The tablet was broken and Toomes sent to prison. During his transformation Dr. Conners let the remaining piece of the symbiote escape. It made its way into serial killer Kletus Kassidy’s prison cell and Carnage was born. I failed to mention MJ or Aunt May in part 4, so I have revised the article to reflect that Peter does officially propose to MJ.
The film picks up where 4 left off where Kletus Kassidy(Carnage) has escaped from prison, leaving a trail of bodies behind. Then, Kassidy shows up at private hang out for some former criminal associates of his. After exchanging small talk, Carnage slaughters everyone in the room. Carnage sees a news paper with Spiderman on the front. He plans to make new headlines by killing Spidey. Zoom in on “PHOTO BY PETER PARKER.”
Next, we move to Peter and MJs wedding. After the I dos, the church has suddenly changed into an icy palace. The front door explodes. Mysterio enters followed by several henchmen. Mysterio’s men make everyone put their valuables into containers. Spiderman swoops in, takes out the thugs and goes after Mysterio. Mysterio and the ice palace turn out to be holograms. The real Mysterio appears in the balcony and laughs as he exits in a puff of smoke with the stolen goods. As the guest leave, you notice a scoffer get into a limo. Mysterio sits in the back seat and the driver morphs his appearance into the white faced Chamelon.
Later, Kassidy goes to the Daily Bugle to find Peter, but he’s not there. Kassidy slips into the file room and looks at Peter’s file. His attention goes to “CONTACTS” and “MAY PARKER.”
Blocks away, a bank robbery is in progress. Mysterio is at it again. Spiderman arrives to a scene of police cars outside the bank. The bank doors bust open and a swarm of scarab beetles pour out. Mysterio steps out of the bank. Spidey shows up and takes him down. Mysterio is unmasked as Quentin Beckett. He is put in a prison truck and taken away. Minutes later, the driver, who is really Chamelon, pulls over, stun guns the guard, dumps him in an alley and drives away.
Kassidy goes to Aunt May’s and says he’s a friend of Peter’s. He takes her hostage and makes her call Peter. Peter and MJ arrive and Carnage ambushes them, critically injuring Aunt May. Carnage tells Peter to tell Spiderman he wants to see him. MJ stays with Aunt May and Peter goes after Carnage. Spidey catches up to him and a battle takes place. A loud noise or siren drives Carnage away.
At Mysterio’s hideout, he is brooding about Spiderman. He tells how he was a Hollywood special effects artist and the accident that ruined his career. Then he tells Chamelon about a chemical he plans to put in the water supplies that will make it flammable. He plans to set bombs throughout the city so it will burn uncontrollably. At that point, Carnage appears and makes a deal with Mysterio to use his plot to lure Spiderman into a trap.
The next scene would start at Aunt May’s funeral. Later, at Peter’s apartment, he turns on the news. He sees that Mysterio and Carnage have taken hostages at a warehouse. Spiderman arrives and discovers the hostages are fakes. One turns out to be Chamelon, who hits Spidey with an stun gun.
He wakes up tied to a water pipe with a bomb strapped to him. Carnage and Mysterio are there. Mysterio tells Spidey after the chemical hits the water supply the first bomb blows; it will trigger the other bombs. Spidey uses his wits and pits his enemies against each other. Carnage fights with Mysterio and accidently breaks the pipe, keeping the chemical from entering the water supply. Spidey webs to gun from Chamelon and use it to escape. He disarmed the transmitter, but not the explosive. Spidey throws it at Carnage, killing him. Mysterio is arrested, but Chamelon gets away.
After the credits, Chamelon returns to Mysterio’s hideout. A shadowy figure surprises him. The figure tells him there’s a way he can get revenge on Spiderman. Intrigued, he asks how. First, he says, we need to pick up a few of his Spidey’s old friends. The man reveals himself to be Dr. “Otto” Octavious(Doc Ock).
