GIANT Marvel Fancast Pt.1

Just some average Joes ideas for a Marvel Fan Cast

Hey guys, I've been thinking and thinking about doing this for a long time and I'm finally starting. My goal is to cast as many characters from Marvel as possible. Hopefully you guys will like the work and feel free to put out characters for me to cast in the next edition of my fan cast.

The rules:
1. I'm going to disregard all current actors cast in Marvel roles (even if they are the best choice)
2. I'm going to try and steer away from the normal fan cast picks because that'd be boring to re read the same thing.
3. I'm going to try and avoid actors that have been cast in CBMs already

This might start off slow but trust me I'll work on it steadily until every character is covered. Let me know what you think!

Ok so first of we have the original Spiderman/ Peter Parker. Brett Harrison isn't a big name actor but
he has been in some good shows. I liked his parts in Grounded for Life but most notably Reaper. He had a little bit of a smart ass attitude in the show which I think could be amped up to match Spideys.

I had to add Miles since there has been quite a bit of talk about him with all the Spidey/Marvel news. Anyway Tyler James Williams would be a great fit due to his youth, appearance and the fact that I think he can match Miles in tone. I always thought he was an actor that could make you feel what his character was experiencing even on a show like Every Body Hates Chris. I think he's a great actor and under utilized.

Good ole Mary Jane. I always thought of Mary Jane as that insanely hot but approachable girl. Sexy but cute too. I think Erin gives off that vibe and could totally come across as the loving other half to Peter.

If you haven't seen Jere Burns in anything, check out Justified immediately. Jere has the skills and presence to really bring Norman/Goblin to life. He has a confidence and cunning about him but also has that look and tone that makes you think he could snap at any moment and become this raging psycho.

So Emmerson is most know for Lost and playing Benjamin Linus. Linus was this almost sociopathic character but also came across as very intelligent. I think that he could bring Otto to life and show how he feels superior to others due to his mind but is a touch unhinged as well.

Scott Adkins is a bad ass super physical martial artist/actor. Check out Undisputed 2 if you don't believe me. Not only does he look like Kraven but he has a sort of raw animal quality to bring the character to life.

Malkovich would be my top pick for Mysterio because of the ridiculous amount of fear and overall presence he can bring. He's a smart actor though which I think suits Mysterio along with the way he can play a villain. I think of Mysterio as a cross between his character in RED and his role as Cryus the Virus in Con Air.

Venom I think should be played by and actor that's not necessarily a meat head or slow but someone who can give a hint of that to the role. Eddie alwasy seemed like he was more of a brute than a thinker to me and I think Kwanten has shown in roles he can play that type of character.

So I'll just throw this out there, Baker strikes me as the kind of guy who just might have a stash of dead bodies at his house. Dude creeps me out (I don't think I'm alone) and I think would do Cletus justuice on the big screen. Being an all out psycho seems like it may be an easy job but I think Baker would really take it over the top.

Yes I already know he ISN'T AMERICAN! But so what, hell it's acting anyway. Plus he has the look of Cap and I think he could really give off the straight laced soldier vibe.

I think Dafoe could pull off the role of Red Skull way better than Hugo did. I can already hear his accent and see him as the pompous Nazi bastard he is. Willem just has that superior, creepy, manical look and attitude that would suit the character.

Matt could absolutely pull over the innocent young soldier boy role as a pre Winter Soldier Bucky - Then nail the focused death machine as Winter Soldier and then finally transition back to being the good looking hero who everyone admires and respects.

It sucks that Clooney wasn't born a little later but I still think that he would be a bad ass Tony Stark. He has the classy tux wearing thing down but could really pull of being kind of an arrogant jerk turned big time hero.

I am a HUGE Lost fan and think Daniel Dae Kim is an amazing actor. To me he has the perfect look and build to play The Mandarin. I think if we ever get to see a real version of the Mandarin he is absolutely the man to do it.

Dominc is a great actor (The Wire?!?) but he always has that look and vibe that something is off with him. I think he can play an intelligent but infinitely weird character like MODOK. Plus look at him I think with just a little stretching of the face he could look exactly like MODOK.

Yes I know that it's semi cheating taking a guy who plays a viking on tv and casting him as a Norse god but hey what can I say I have no shame. Anyway I think Travis would be a great fit for Thor cause he brings a powerful tought look and that almost arrogant attitude that the God of Thunder needs.

I think Johnathan would really bring Loki to life and would make it fun to watch him be the cunning, pompous trickster we all know from the comics. Also he can play a sort of dark witted character and that would be a big plus for Loki.

The final cast for tonights edition is Odin. I think Viggo could pull off the part even better than Anthony Hopkins. Viggo has that maternal feel but also has the vibe that if you cross him he will make you pay. With a little bit of makeup and a gray beard/hair we could see the baddest version of Odin ever.

Well there you have it, my first ever edition of the Marvel Fan Cast. Please feel free to let me know what you guys think (even if it's that I'm bat shit crazy) Also don't forget to throw out some names for the next edition.

Thanks guys

I like it, but I also hate when fan casts try to re cast current characters.
That's just a nitpick though.
I only don't like Captain America's pick here.

Also, Dafoe as Red Skull is a awesome.
Clones is a little old for Tony though.

@BlackestKnight - True Clooney is a lil too old, just wishful thinking I guess. Weird thing is RDJ is 49 and Clooney is 53 only 4 years older. Just curious cause I love feedback, what didn't work with the Cap pick?

- Your chocies for the Spider-Men and MJ are too old. Maybe they would've worked in 2012 if we were doing Spider-Man in his adult years. But not now.
- I might get into Justified one day, considering it's all the rage these days.
- A slightly husky actor should play Doc Ock. My suggestions would be Jared Harris or John Noble.
- I too have Scott Adkins as Kraven.
- Alright, Malkovich is far more fitting for Mysterio than Vulture! He even played a magician in The Great Buck Howard!
- Nah, I like Venom to be a little more intelligent. Not that Ryan wouldn't be good, I'm sure.
- I never heard of Charles Baker. What film made you want to cast him as Carnage?
- Coster-Waldau is far too old for Captain America. Same with your Bucky choice; Bomer's more fit for Iron Man.
- Dafoe would be great to replace Hugo Weaving, I'll give you points for that casting!
- Clooney would've made a great 00's Tony Stark!
- Interesting Mandarin choice!
- Considering Travis' experience in Vikings, he would rock it as Thor.
- I could see Rhys-Meyers as Loki. But Joseph Morgan would be just as good, based on his work as Klaus in The Originals.
- Nice to see Viggo get cast in heroic roles. People forget he played Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings.

By the way, would you please out my Spider-Man fancast and leave a comment on it as well?

@MikeZ - thanks for all the feedback man. Glad to see people can have a civil agree to disagree situation on here. Checking out your Spider-Man fancast right now. Oh and BTW nice avatar! F*ckin love Artie. If you give a hooker money for cocaine, she will never come back with the cocaine.

That actually was one of my contenders for Miles Morales.
The other being his fictional bro played by Tequan Richmond:
OR the only Black-Latino actor I'm aware of who'd fit the bill = Tristan Wilds.

Clooney is the perfect Tony Stark/Iron Man. Leonardo di Caprio is better >=)
Charlie Hunnam for Thor!?
The rest for whom I have seen or simply judging on looks are friggin' awesome.

@MikeZ - Baker was in Breaking Bad as Skinny Pete and had a handful of other appearances on some shows I like.

@DonkeyTeeth Great Fancast and very unique. I also agree with your rules, sometimes I click on these fancasts and they all use the same group of actors.
Kudos for picking Scott Adkins he was great as Yuri Boyka in the Undisputed films, hopefully he will get a more substantial role in a big film one day.
My personal pick for the Mandarin is Andy Lau.

@KingNTheKong - Yep if you read the additional notes it's a work in progress and this is just part one. Like I said above I want to try and do pretty much the whole Marvel universe but I don't have the luxury to be able and do it in one sitting. It's going to broken up into smaller sections. No biggie though if you missed that part.

It's not a giant fancast though. If you combined it with part 2 maybe, but this is nothing. You wouldn't say Fellowship of the Ring is 6 hours because it's 3 hours and it's "second part" Two Towers is too. This is an independent article with 18 casting choices, making it an averaged sized fan cast. For Giant go check out some work by Robert Garlen. I consider under 22 too small for my personal fan casts.
DonkeyTeeth
DonkeyTeeth - 2/15/2015, 10:39 AM
@KingNTheKong - Ok man - just exactly what I said its an ONGOING CAST which means there will be a part 2 coming and a part 3 and 4 and so on. Sorry that not everyone has time to sit and make a huge casting post at once. If it's too small for your personal fan cast then no big deal. Glad you seem to have found other casts that you like. I do it for myself and if people like it then cool if the don't and have feedback awesome but complaining about size when it's an ongoing project (cleary stated multiple times) is kinda like pissin into the wind. And honestly it's more like saying the LOTR trilogy is GOING to be 9 or so hours once all the parts are completed. But hey nice opinion.

kong
kong - 2/15/2015, 1:12 PM
Yeah, but saying the entire thing is Giant versus saying that this specific fan cast is are two different things. I know it's multiple parts you don't have to repeat it a bunch of times, that's the basis of my argument. The fact that you split it up is taking something giant and making it small, therefore this is a small marvel fan cast that has other small continued parts.

And it's not just like saying the LOTR trilogy will be 9 hours, it's like saying on the poster "THE 9 HOUR FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING FILMA" and then stepping in to the movie and at the end saying "Come back next year and the year after that for the next 6 hours." You said it was gonna be giant and it wasn't.

And you don't have to sit down, start and finish an article in one sitting. Copy the source and paste it in to a word document then save it. Come back to it later and you'll have an impressive looking long ass article instead of coming out with a new article everyday pushing down other people's articles when it could've just been one. But hey, bad opinion.

@KingNTheKong - Eh it's really an argument about nothing with no point. You keep your view and I'll keep mine.
