Green Arrow Movie Idea

Welcome to my first pitch for a comic book movie. I chose Green Arrow because they have yet to screw him up and a movie about the character would be amazing. I would just like to say that I am not a script writer and I am just writing out my ideas for the movies, not a script of every second of the movie.

So here goes:

The movie would begin not long before the identity of Green Arrow would assert itself. Oliver Queen would be the confident and wealthy ladies man. The movie would start with him living his daily life as a businessman but also as a philanthropist going to charity events as well as spending his free time participating in his hobbies (one of which is archery, which he is very skilled at due to his upbringing. He would have awards and such from many competitions).

Due to his afinity with the bow, during a halloween event at his home he is kidnapped (while wearing a Robin Hood costume. This would allow for his original costume to be showcased but only for a short period). The kidnappers work for some industrialist he pissed off with his philanthropy work. He would then use his skills to defeat the kidnappers and return home.

However during this ordeal he realizes that the people in his city are suffering and throwing money at it is not helping anyone. This is when he first decided to become Green Arrow.

He would go out and fight some crime as Green Arrow which would get the attention of the industrialist who hires some 'specialists' to kill him. I would say that Count Vertigo, Merlyn, Captain Boomerang would all be good choices for the villains of this movie.

The end of the movie would be a final confrontation between Green Arrow and the industrialist with his hired 'specialists'. Green Arrow would then have the chance to kill the industrialist but instead he takes him and leaves him in one of the areas of the city that has been terrorized by the industrialist where the people can have their way with him. I would end the movie on a cliffhanger related to Green Arrow being asked if he would like to fight crime on a more international scaled (the JLA), and have him refuse but keep the contact information to set up the feeling that he still might in the future.

Now since Arsenal is such a kick ass character, Speedy will make an apearance in the movie. While Green Arrow is out battling crime, he is knocked down and his bow (and notched arrow) are thrown from his grasp. Just as he is about to be killed a kid on the street shoots and kills the guy about to kill Ollie. Since Speedy is a name that will have the masses laughing, it would be a running joke through the movie that people call him Speedy (cause of how fast he is) and he doesnt like it. At the very end of the movie, I would have him pick up a gun and say something like 'Call me Arsenal'.
The movie could also make mention of the Teen Titans by having the person inviting Green Arrow to join the league saying something like 'There is also a place for your ward to train and hone his skills with other 'like minded' young people.'

Also, Black Canary MUST be in the movie as Green Arrow's love interest and they should both know each other in their normal identity but should then meet up randomly while fighting in the streets.


Lastly, the movie should set up or have some hints towards the Green Lantern movie (or if that movie was already made then it should feature him even more). Green Lantern and Green Arrow together make a crazy team both with their ideals and with their skills.

In conclusion, Green Arrow is an everyman. He is gritty and short tempered and has been known to kill. The movie should feature him as such, not saying it has to be all dark like everything else, but he fights for the people and not to save the world.

As far as casting, I am not the greatest but if I think of someone for the roles I will post it.
