During the SDCC 2012 Marvel Studios announced that the secret project for 2014 would be Guardians of the Galaxy. I could hardly contain my excitement, I´m a huge fan of the Cosmic side of Marvel Comics and when I found out that there would be a GotG movie I was so happy that I cried...deeply. Anyway, this is my opinion on who should play who, first I will make a choice for the director and the team members that are already confirmed, then I will talk about the team members that are unlikely to appear (except for Adam Warlock) but I'd like to see in the movie.

Director:
Duncan Jones

We want a director who can deliver a powerful sci-fi film, not just a cosmic version of The Avengers. That man is Duncan Jones, who has proved his skills directing and writing great films like Moon or just directing somenthing someone else write, like Source Code. Just give him a bigger budget and watch the magic happen.

Star-lord:
Eion Bailey

I felt it was better to go with an actor who is more unknown but has the acting skills to do the job. After several years of playing smaller roles in anything from Buffy to Fight Club to Band of Brothers, Eion Bailey recently had two larger roles in Covert Affairs and Once Upon A Time, with Once upon a time being enough prove to me that Eion is likable and charismatic enough to lead a band of space misfits.

Rocket Raccon:
Greg Ellis

My first choice for Rocket Raccoon was Bob Hoskins, sadly, a few days early he was diagnosed with parkinson, forcing him to retire. Having said that, Greg Ellis has done an excellent work in both Avengers: EMH and MvsC3. He'll do it just fine.

Drax the Destroyer:
Gerard Butler

Drax was difficult to cast, because we need actor with immense physical prowess. At this point, Vin Diesel could be a perfect choice. But with the importance of Drax as a character we need an actor who can actually play the role, not just a muscular guy, after all we all remember his life purpose, right? So, if he can get back into shape, Gerard Butler is that actor.

Gamora:
Rosario Dawson

Watch Sin City. Then, you all will agree with me that Rosario Dawson it's a great choice for Gamora.

Groot:
John Rhys-Davies-Voice / Doug Jones-Motion Capture

Do I have to say something else?

Characters that have a good chance of appearing:

Adam Warlock/Magus:
Michael Fassbender
Alexander Skarsgård.

My first choice was Viggo Mortensen, but he is alredy 53 years old, so he probably just do a couple of movies before he left this superhero stuff behind. Then I choose Michael Fassbender, because I think he can do a great job playing both Adam Warlock and Magus. But I wasn´t that sure about the choice, because he is already Magneto and also there's a lot of fancast featuring him. So my choice now is Alexander Skarsgård. I think he's a great actor and can pull off both Adam Walock's personalities.

Unlikely characters:

Phyla Vell:
Selma Blair

Moondragon:
Rooney Mara

Mantis:
Zooey Deschannel

Vance Astro:
Sam Worthington

Cosmo:
Jude Law

Nova:
Chris Pine
