How I See Ant-Man Fitting Into The MCU

How I See Ant-Man Fitting Into The MCU

Just wanted to spit-ball on my vision of how Ant-Man's movie will go and will contribute to Phases 2 & 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Ant-Man and GotG have been my two most curious Marvel films coming out both because I'm not very familiar with the characters and because each are very obtuse ideas for the general population to grasp.

After the Ant-Man footage leaked it seems that overall the reception for him is pretty positive and it's gotten me thinking about how he will essentially revolutionize the Marvel movie universe.

So from what I've heard through various locations Ultron will have some sort of a presence in Phase 2. Not as the robot body we all know, but more as an artificial intelligence system similar to J.A.R.V.I.S. (Think U.L.T.R.O.N.) I've read it may be a system being used by A.I.M. throughout Phase 2, now I know that's nowhere near confirmed but it is how I'm going to speculate this synopsis of Ant-Man's journey.

So here we go....

Avengers2:

Introduce both Hank and Jan as S.H.I.E.L.D. associates in Avengers 2, most won't know who they are that aren't familiar with the characters so Hanks reveal of their powers will take the audience by surprise and he will steal the show, much like Hulk did in Avengers 1. (This will be just the push the Ant-Man solo outing will need.) As I said before, Ultron will be there as well, but not in a physical form, more as a thing that only sharp eyed movie goers will catch. (think back to the quotes Kevin Fiege gave about things being there that most won't catch until multiple viewings or until the phase itself is complete.)

Ant-Man:

*notice* I think Ant-Man's solo film is going to take place for the most part in between Phases 1 and 2 and other parts either during or before Phase 1. I know this seems weird since he will be the first movie of Phase 3 but bear with me. (I actually think his movie is going to conclude Phase 2 not start Phase 3 because they've announced it with the other Phase 2 films.)

let us begin;

So the dynamic duo get their hype in Avengers 2, which leads right into the Ant-Man solo movie. I'm thinking we get a set-up in Act-1 of the movie where we learn Hank and Jan's back stories, how he creates Pym Particles and a scene of him stopping a crime in progress. This is going on during Phase 1 maybe even before Iron Man 1 is going on. (Think Fury's line to Tony about there being other heroes out there.)
Act-2 We see Scott Lang, (A colleague of Hanks, or someone who learns about Hanks Ant-Man persona in Act-1 and steals the suit for his own deeds) So Lang steals the suit and robs some banks in order to get the money he needs to either retrieve his kidnapped daughter or help her get cured from a sickness where A.I.M. are the people that either have her or are the ones claiming to have the "cure." Hank tracks him down during his exchange with A.I.M. with the stolen money and stops him, while also revealing that A.I.M. are the big bad guys. This is going on during the end of Phase 1 before Avengers 1 catastrophes.
Act-3 Hank is faced with challenging whatever A.I.M. has in store for him, (maybe the development of the Extremis virus or something like that) and he wants to stop them. He, Janet, and possibly even Lang confront them and win and A.I.M. is defeated, (or so they think leading into their involvement in Iron Man3 and Phase2) This is still coinciding with the end of Phase 1 right before Avengers, and while the events in Avengers are going on he is in his quarrel with A.I.M.. Once he gets back to his home base he sees the events that transpired with the Chitari invasion and starts to create an A.I. system to defend further cosmic threats (Ultron) as well as creating a sentient body to house his own brainwaves combined with the A.I. system. Fury then contacts him and recruits him and Jan to S.H.I.E.L.D. and Scott Lang goes back to his happy family.

Avengers2 (again):

So in Phase 2 during the Avengers2 we're seeing him a few years in the future, we as the audience don't know that he is who he is, but Fury does know and he's basically the curveball that he can throw at whomever the big bad is in Avengers2.

Phase 3 & beyond

the end of the Ant-Man movie and Phase 3 then introduces Ultron as the big bad for Avengers 3.

Sorry it might be a little confusing to follow, if it is I apologize lol

Good write up not confusing at all, you just kinda spluttered out your description of your Antman movie theory. I like your thoughts on Ultron being an advanced computer intelligence like Jarvis. Hope its true, really excited about the upcoming movies.

@Jonge: Thanks, yeah it was a little difficult to try and make everything sound coherent while getting my point across haha.

@Merchant: I think it could be a real big hit too! Almost like Iron Man was but idk if I really see the need for sequels to Ant-Man unless it hits big at the box office.

I agree they shouldn't start churning out films in an Ant-Man franchise. After his solo film, I'd relegate him to the Avengers movies. It leave room for films featuring other characters and keeps the character from being stretched too thin.

Ant-Man can fit easily, after all he's so small...

God, I'm sorry. That was awful!

@mkilban idk man, antman I feel like is going to be the new direction marvel is going with. He reminds me alot of iron man in the sense that he has so much to him and is essentially a guy with a super powered suit. I think they're gonna take advantage of that and give iron man a break and use him for the avengers only after phase 2. I'm not saying he's going to be a leader or main dude in the avengers movies but I think he's going to develop into an essential part of the mcu especially if they're bringing in ultron

@Jonge I sort of hope they do go that route, especially if Ultron will be involved in Phase 3. Would make the stories much more personal
