How much would it take?

i believe that Marvel will eventually reclaim all of their characters' rights. but unfortunatley that will probably be in twenty to thirty years to do so.
by then we will see at least three different actors pass by for all of Marvel's films.

I'm fed up telling everyone its MARVEL's own fault they [frick]ed up all the rights!!!

Even though i'd like to see those franchises getting some justice, I'd rather see marvel work hard on exploiting the full potential on the unreleased (and three released - iron man, iron man 2, hulk) movies.

It was already hard enough to make people go watch another Hulk movie and with it's previous stigma i dont think it did as well as it should have done. Imagine marvel trying to make Fantastic 4 decent again after two very average movies.

I think characters like Spidey and Fantastic 4 are slightly more targeted to a young audience (10+) who love them for their 'humorous moments' and power-ranger styled action. Marvel seem to be focusing on a story, rather than spending a budget on explosions and cgi, and I'd rather see dare devil doomed in the eternal fires of Fox then not see an iron man 12 :P

@ Leee777 Yeah I always wanted a main trilogy of Avengers films. First with Loki and Hulk as the villains, second with Ultron, and third with Dr Doom. After that a Kang film would be pretty cool but it could be pretty hard.


I'm desperate to see Winter Soldier, Silver Surfer (hopefully also including Nova), Iron Fist, and Doctor Strange movies.
As far as I know these are mostly all being planned so things are looking awesome for the future, aside from the Avengers and their character movies.

I said 2 of the 3, both Spiderman and FF are being rebooted. I said "pretty much Xmen aswell" because of Xmen: First Class. I know it isn't a reboot but in my opinion they just seem stuck after Last Stand so they're deciding to go to the beginnings so they can tell new stories.

Fair enough with that. In the first move he's starting out. Oh look there's a sequel. Sure he steals the Surfer's board but he just wasn't like Dr Doom at all. His costume looked stupid and even then he was hardly in it. Also, there was no fury from him. No wrathful destruction. Not like the Doom I love anyway.

Like I said, this was an opinion, like all of this really. I said I liked the character, he is a good character, but to me he just isn't Gambit. That's what I get when I watched it.

I read the comics, then I watch Spiderman and to me he's just not right. He just seemed way too different for me and I dislike what Sony did to his character. My opinion, shared by many.

Well obviously he looks stupid in the comics. But when you read the comics you get used to that appearance, it doesn't phase you. I watched the Fantastic Four and I just disliked the way he looked. It was probably the fact that it was a suit. If he'd been done using CGI it would probably have looked much better.

Yeah he ignored Sue but that's one factor. In the comics he seems a lot more confident and strong. I just didn't thing Ioan Gruffudd gave a strong enough performance.

This is a rant. Me just writing down my frustrations with these movies. They're my opinions, things which annoy me.

I didn't mind ff4 or X Men yes Doctor Doom was kind of crap though.

What does that have to do with McMahon's portrayal?

He didn't seem like someone who would EVER be capable of portraying Doom with the gravitas and menace he needs. Even if he still had an arc to complete, he didn't remotely seem like a worthy "young" Doom (and with McMahon being decidedly not "young"...)

Nothing against the actor per se, but when there are so many other actors who could have portrayed Doom's dark, seething, intelligent MENACE - even the potential of such - you have to wonder why him?

Same with Gruffydd - really good actor, but he's just an odd choice for Reed.

Alba - lovely girl. Just one look at her says "Sue Storm" doesn't it. Doesn't it? No, it doesn't.

Evans was perfect. Chiklis was pretty great too - but that SUIT did look stupid (note THE SUIT - not the Thing himself - THE SUIT - comprende?)

I'm sure Tim Story had his heart in the right place and tried his best, but there's no getting away from the fact that the movies fell well short of realising the FF on screen the way they could/should have. Some of the scenes are great as vignettes (e.g. Torch chasing the Surfer), but as a whole they just don't quite cut it.

Gambit

I hated the 90s version too, so I'm with you on that, but this was just lame anyway.

The fight he has with Wolverine. WTF was that all about? Wolverine's fighting Sabretooth and is about to kill him when Gambit attacks Wolverine (why not attack Sabretooth?). When Toothy gets away, Gambit asks "whut? You were gonna kill him?" WTF'ingF?!! What did you think he was going to do with them big [frick]ing claws at Sabretooth's throat you [frick]ing moron? Awful, just awful.

They put Gambit in for the same reason they put Venom in Spider-Man 3. Because they don't have a clue about any of this and market researched the "most popular characters" to try and get your money. Simple as. Don't have to make sense - just needs "featuring Gambit" on the posters.

Spider-Man

How do you know it would be annoying? How do you know it would make the action less exciting? If done badly, you're probably right - it would do both - but should we not even try because comedy and action is hard?

Matthew Vaughn seems to have got the mix right in Kick-Ass. They should make Peter/Spidey funny AND exciting - if that's too hard, just don't make it until you can find someone who can do it.

Is it wrong to want greatness? Is it better to accept mediocrity, because "it could have been worse"? Nah - I don't buy that. We're over the simple excitement of just seeing our heroes on screen, and quality be damned. Now the bar has been raised and we expect them to deliver.
