After Apocalypse I think they should do a sort of X-Men (80's or 90's) crossover with Deadpool.
I'm assuming Cable will appear in Deadpool 2.
My idea is that in the present time (after Deadpool 2) Mr. Sinister is fighting Cable and Deadpool. Sinister regrets having created Cable and decides to go back in time to "fix it".
(IMO Cable should have Nate Grey's origin (created in a lab with the DNA of Scott and Jean), since the whole Madelyn Pryor thing is way to complicated for the movies.)
Sinister sends his mind back into his own body in the 80's or 90's with a device he's created. However he is interrupted by Deadpool and Cable and end up when Cable is a baby.
With the help of their acquaintance Forge who has been developing a time machine, Deadpool (mind and body) is send back to the same time.
Here he meets the X-Men (including Jean and Scott) and together they fight to protect baby Cable who Sinister manages to infect with a techno virus.
Jean manages to probe his Sinister's mind and see glimpses of his Victorian past and how he stalked both her and Scott during their childhood to gain their DNA. Furious she almost destroys Sinister and knocks him back to the present with a hint of her Phoenix powers.
Baby Cable is dying from the virus and the X-Men have no way of saving him. Suddenly a cloaked old woman appears and promises to take him to a place, where he can be saved. Jean senses that the woman can be trusted and she leaves with the baby.
Deadpool returns home too.
Reasons for story:
- Apocalypse is removed from both the origins of Sinister and Cable since I doubt he'll be seen again after the 2016 movie, instead Sinister creates Cable in order to achieve what he considers the perfect lifeform
- I'm sure they'll continue the franchise with the younger cast (James McAvoy, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan etc.)
- Sinister could have his own followers the Nasty Boys or the Marauders to fight the X-Men
- All the X-Men would have time to shine and show off their powers
- It has been rumored that the Phoenix will appear in a later movie and this would be a great way of pushing Jean to the edge
- Sadly Deadpool would have to be toned down a bit since a X-Men movie would never get an R rating, but since he's only part of an ensemble cast, I think it would be okay
- I know the last thing anybody wants for the X-Men franchise is more time-travel, but this wouldn't be as major as in Days of Future Past and it wouldn't cause any changes to the timeline. In the end Sinister accomplishes nothing but creating the very Cable he was fighting in the future
- Deadpool holding baby Cable would just be too cute, not to mention how funny it would if the baby needed changing

New characters:
Mr. Sinister, Old woman/Mother Askani/Rachel Grey, the Marauders/Nasty Boys (Harpoon, Vertigo, Ramrod, Gorgeous George and Sunfire), Forge
