"IDEAS" for future Fantastic 4 Movies

"IDEAS" for future Fantastic 4 Movies

Hate 'em,or Love 'em, the Fantastic 4 are Marvel's first family. I have made some changes to the original cast of the FF & casted a few other Marvel characters(related or not).Remember these are just "Ideas", I'd also like to know which actors you think should play wich characters(marvel)in your opinion.

First off I don't think the cast of the first two Fantastic 4 movies were that bad, with that said this is just me trying to imagine other people in their place's...I wrote some of this on one of myth's pages but I thought I'd write it on one of mine as well. Here it go's,remember these are no more than ideas(good or bad):
I think we all can agree any marvel movie that would start off with our hero/heroes beating the crap out of any of their lesser known enemys for the first 5 minutes would be awesome.
(FF 3)-so have the first fam fight two guys like the Wizard & Trapster, have the fight spill down to the subways underground,FF beat them up,then as they leave have the Thing say that he saw something(one of mole man's creatures)moving around down there,Human Torch makes a joke about it and all is forgoten.
Thing, dressed in his longcoat & hat go's by himself underground sees the dirty sewer palace of the Moleman and his minion's
back to the baxter building the Thing warns the others.Dr.Henry Pym should be introduced with a small speaking role, then FF go underground & defeat the minions,Moleman escapes and unleashes Giganto on the city of new york, the set up for the famous FF first issue cover fight,I would love to watch FF fight something huge together.
(FF 4)-I want to see a marvel movie that takes us under-water,the FF meet Sub-Mariner is cool.Have the Todd Arliss(Tiger Shark)transformation storyline take FF underwater, while there they find Atlantis & Sub-Mariner,with a end fight with Attuma & Tiger Shark.Although I know they could get underwater that far with something Reed built I don't know how they could fight? maybe Sue could do something plus Torch would have a problem.
(FF 5)-FF & Wyatt Wingfoot are invited as guests to Wakanda Africa by Black Panther, he fights them all, later becoming friends.enemys would include Erik Killmonger & Ulysses Klaw (Klaw) the guy that killed T'Challa's father.Setting up the Black Panther movie.
(FF 6)the Kree,Ronan, the Skrulls,K'lrt(Super Skrull) and the Inhumans.
and if you wanted to get crazy with it, one time Alantis went to war with Wakanda so that could be a bridge between 4 & 5.

One thing, I think that the last movie was good for was introducing Silver Surfer...I know the storyline was messed up & Galactus was not what people expected, but if the first family cant bring in the crowds like they should then maybe it's a good thing to have another superhero like Namor or Black Panther introduced through a Fantastic 4 movie, just my thoughts.

the cast:
First Sue Storm,Jessica Alba's Hot but so is Kate Bosworth, just look at those awesome/weird eyes she has,if this girl could keep just one of her meals down she'd be perfect for Sue Storm:

Next Johnny Storm,Human Torch I actully really liked Chris Evans take on it he was funny but I don't think he wants to come back for another FF movie,so my pick would be for Jake Gyllenhaal he's a good actor, just dye his hair blonde.

Reed Richards, evryones least favourite member should be played by an actor that could bring the character some depth & wouldnt mind taking the backseat,my choice Barry Pepper:

Old blue eye's the Thing,Ben Grimm...I honestly want to see The Thing done up CGI like the Hulk, but smaller...thats just me wishing though, even if they did CGI they would still need to have someone play Ben Grimm my pick: a regular joe that is funny(kinda)Kevin James thats right the King of Queens, remember they would just use his voice for most of it,but I think he could pull off Ben Grimm.

Victor Von Doom,DR.DOOM,Feel Free to laugh(I am)this is funny but Dr.DOOM should be played by Dolph Lundgren, I'm serious look at him now at days he's perfect for the role,he's big,has an accent,a scary face & he needs work.lol.

I know people have said it before & that he does the voice for Black Panther's animated show but damn Djimon Hounsou is perfect for the role of T'Challa Black Panther:

A lot of fanboys have said that Namor the Sub-Mariner should be played by Hugo Weaving and believe me I think Hugo's the best pick for Namor...but I tried to come up wih someone else, how about Josh Duhamel ?

Here's a few others:Aaron Eckhart as Captain America it's that chin !!

"Actor's for Hire" Kevin Grevioux & Jason Statham as Heroes for Hire, Luke Cage & Iron Fist:

Eva Mendes as Elektra:

Chow Yun Fat as The Mandarin:

Wentworth Miller as Johnny Blaze The Ghost Rider:

Gerad Buttler as The Mighty Thor:

Pierce Brosnan as Dr.Strange:

Aaron Eckhart is too old, Kevin James isn't right and I just don't agree with your Mr. Fantastic pick. The rest are good choices though.

Do you know who Shaman is? He's kinda the go-to-guy when it comes to picking actors. Go to MySecretIdentityPicks fansite.

yep eckhart is too old. and i wouldn't say your pick has the voice for the Thing, his voice is too comical.

Kate Bosworth is an excellent pick, truly brilliant dude, as for the human torch, how about Jamie Bell (the guy from Jumper), i think he could carry on well from where chris evans left off and bring something extra to the role. Not sure about eva mendes dude, although i do love the pic (right click and save As).
Shaman

If I may (Thanks for the acknowledgement Joker1Zero), FF sucks. They can be Marvel's first family all they want, they offer NOTHING to the masses and every single thing of them proves it, Tv shows, movies even comics. Notice how they're popularity went spiraling down when X-men were invented.

And if i can give you casting pointers, if you want as many people on board with you as possible, NEVER re-cast a character that already had all the fan's approval with the original actor. Weither you think that Evans wouldn't want to come back as Torch is way beside the point. Evans is the only element of the fantastic four movies that actually rocked. He is the perfect Johnny and should never be changed unless you have a logical explanation that would show reason for his dismissal of the role.

As for Sue, Bosworth should never be cast in a superhero role ever in her life. Why? Cause she can't even pull off a decent Lois Lane. See, there's more to casting than just looks. When i cast an actor, i explain my choice with they're experience and not just their looks. Alba was also fine for Sue. Why change something that isn't broken.

As for Thing, Michael Chiklis was as good as that character can be played. Thing IS one of the reasons why FF sucks so much. And Thing isn't supposed to be funny so Kevin James is a bad choice. And as the Face mentionned, he doesn't even have the voice down for the role.

For Reed, This is another great character that explains why FF sucks. Here we have a "smart guy" who gets outsmarted on a regular basis. His power sucks and his character has no purpose. Barry Pepper is a great actor but in no way fits Reed's profile. Personnaly, i wouldn't even want to disgrace an actor by casting him as Reed so i won't even bother offering a better choice.

I will give you credit for Dolph Lundgren as Victor Von Doom. Here's how casting is based, take notes: He has proven to have the stone cold attitude Doom has in Rocky 4 and also has proven to have the ability to play a psychotic villain in Universal Soldier. Both great performance i might add as well as the ONLY reasons why both movies are worth watching. He is under rated because of the digrace he committed with "Masters of the Universe" as most people's favorite childhood tv hero in the 80ies, but could easily win us back in this role.

Djimon Hounsou is a good pic for Black Panther but never has he shown the "fierceness" required for this role. He might prove us wrong as he is slated to be the voice of the character in the upcomming animated series. Personnaly, i feel that Michael Jay White would be a better choice.

As for Namor, this is another character that isn't meant for the big screen. He might be a good "supporting" role but not as a main star. Putting that aside, Duhamel has never shown his ability to be able to play such a regal and cold ruler however Hugo Weaving has, more than once, and would ultimately be the best pic for the role.

As for Heroe's for Hire, Grevioux would be a great Cage because that character isn't really that important and is more of a supporting role as well. Kevin has the talent for a supporting role as he has proven in Underworld. However, Statham isn't asian and i believe Iron Fist is but i could be wrong. The last thing you want when you cast a character is to have all the fans, especially the asian fans, want to lapidate you. So keeping in mind that you might want most people on board with you, an asian actor that also has talent would be good to put these comic book rejects(meaning less popular characters) in the masses good graces by choosing someone along the lines of Jason Scott Lee. Never choose Robin Shou because he couldn't act if his life depended on it.

As for Elektra, here's another supporting character that should've never have gotten her own movie. Garner was wrong for the part even though she is a good actress. We need a harder more stone cold killer for her role and garner just doesn't have the chops for that. Mendez could be able to play this character however, if you have ever read what i always write about her, she's in the same category as Rose McGowan which is as attractive to me as a puddle of baby vomit. maybe an unknown could be better for Elektra. If we go with experience, three women come to mind so far:

-Kate Beckinsale
-Rhona Mitra
-Keira Knightley (for her work in Domino)

And as for the rest of your picks, well done! I think Fat could be a good Mandarin even though i feel that Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa would be the hands down best possible pic for this role. Wentworth Miller would be a great Ghost Rider but not as Johnny Blaze. He could be Danny Ketch which is the one to follow in Johnny's foot steps. And Pierce Brosnan is actually the best pic you have made! He would be perfect for Doctor Strange.

Now as for Captain America and Thor, i do myself have articles on who would be the best pics for those specific roles. On them you will find ongoing debates about the characters specific characteristics and the reasons why certain actors can or can't be casted for these roles. As for your choices, Butler would be a great Thor but Eckhart cannot be Captain America. Here are the links:

Well i hate FF! But i like your ideas for introducing Panther and Namor into the movies..The 2nd FF movie was better because of Silver Surfers presence.

I also like alot of your cast picks..but i agree with Shaman about recasting Torch and Thing..But i think Bosworth would make a great Sue Storm..she was a bit too drab as Lois lane but she didnt actually ACT badly in Superman Returns, which is more than i can say for Jessica "oak tree" Alba in the FF movies. And anyone would be better than that tool Joan Gryfyth as Reed..even though it really is a thankless role to try to bring any kind of audience identification to.

As for the others, well i would need to see Grievoux in something wer he was required to do more than growl and look fierce before i would cast him as Cage. And Statham im not going to go into how much i hate the man. Mendes could pull off Elektra (and i wouldnt mind her pulling me off either!..sorry) but id rather someone taller and a bit more athletic looking like Beckinsale but with acting ability! Its a hard one (just like my..no wont go there!)

I love the rest, Butler would be a great Thor and Brosnan, although im not a huge fan, would be a good Strange. Oh and Shaman check out a movie called In America to see how fierce Hounsou can be!

Cool, i didn't see that one yet. I had noticed from the trailers of "Push" that he seemed to be lacking in that performance but i'll have to check that one out Roar, thanks :)) He is a better rounded actor than White but i wasn't aware of concrete fierceness ability from his part yet.

As for Sue, the character itself doesn't leave much room for liberty from actresses. I'm not too found of Alba but she did as fine as anyone could as Sue also meaning that Bosworth would be just as good as Alba but not better... I really don't think it would be a possibility with that character.

By the way Face, now that's a kickass avatar you got there! I'm sure Roar can attest beign himself a huge fan of The Question.

And what we're saying Crush is not because we're against your ideas because it's been two articles now that it would seem that we are on your case but it is said in all constructive non biased criticism :)

Shaman is the Man to see about character calls. Crush you did pretty good. But some pics I am not to found of. Not saying that I could do any better. I dont' even have a fan site. Well I am not a big fan of the FF4, but I think there ok. Djimon was pretty fierce in Blood Diamond I thought. The Silver Surfer was pretty good With Lawence Fishbourne & Doug Jones. But I would have to disagree with you Shaman on the point with Reed. You can't always have someone that is super smart & and have no one on his level of intelligence to be a villian. There would be no point of him having a nemeises. No nemeises no plot!!!!1
Shaman
Shaman - 1/29/2009, 2:54 PM
Actually Reed's purpose was to be supposedly "super-smart" but he always ends-up being a total douche. And there are countless characters that are already smarter than he is.

Banner
Doom
Pym
Stark
Leader
Parker
Connors
Octavius
Xavier
Forge
Lencher (Magneto)
Whistler LOL

And that's just in the Marvel universe!!!

I get your point, but if you read the Civil War. He was like the 2nd or 3rd smartest in the Marvel Universe (well on Earth anyway). I would have to look @ which comic I seen that in. Not @ home right now!

No offense boys, debates only make us stronger people,I enjoy the feedback!

and Shaman believe me although this might be my first crack at casting characters I did put some thought into it! more than you think,I also consider myself a huge movie buff & I realize that you are some sort of "master" of casting around these parts !!but also I want to make my presence felt on CBM !

See the thing with FF is not that their the first family, but a family I know teams like X-men would call themselvs a family...but FF are a family for real I think thats what I can relate to the most with them, not all their powers but the family aspect: a brother & sister relationship,a married couple & a guy and his bestfriend all in wich have problems aside from their transformations.they react the same way most of us would react,if changed:Torch wants to show off his "gift",Thing is embarrassed & ashamed,Reed trys his hardest to come up with a cure, not for him but to make his family "normal" again(before they embraced it)
I can't think of another superfamily like the FF(don't say the Incredibles) it's not that the FF suck it's whatever writter that writes for them sucks donkey balls.

As for Alba she was good, but what I think is that not only does Bosworth look the part, I think Sue should be played like she is small & timid, kinda playing the background, that way when she did do something big you would be like "wtf she did that!?!" - although I can't vouch for her body of work,I can most deffinitly vouch for her body. but whatever, shit I'd be cool if Jenna Jameson played Sue Storm(or with herself)

ok so Chris Evans saved the movies! you have to believe that the writters gave him the best parts than,a couple of things: I think he looked the part & he sounded good saying all the one-liners but...my "logical explanation" two things 1.Jake Gyllenhaal is 10 times the better actor & 2. go read this interview he says that if they dont make another one then he would be happy to walk away: that dont mean that he wouldnt do another it, just means he dosnt care...so if you dont care about it,bye bye.
http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/03/21/human-torch-chris-evans-says-fantastic-four-3-will-probably-not-happen/

as for chiklis,I liked him too I thought he was real good actully. Now in Kevin James's deffence don't just limit him as a "funny" guy, sure his background is stand-up & his fortay is comedy but he is an Actor & Actors like challenges,I always thought Thing was funny in his own way...like he's so big & tough but when Torch cracks a joke he gets his feelings hurt...a bit of a pushover I see Kevin James in the same light.James wouldnt need to get to dramatic.I don't think chiklis's voices regularly sounds like Thing's he tries to sound like that...and I don't think you guys have heard James try !& you said one time that Thing could never be Hulk...no one can be Hulk! I like big softies like Thing but don't get it twisted I mean he may lose but he ain't scared(like most) to fight the Hulk.

I dont even care what you guys say about Barry Pepper as Mr.(not so)Fantastic,'cause I hate Reed Richards I just threw him in there,in the next movie they should have Reed die in the hands of Doom & then rename the group Fantastic 4 minus 1.

Dolph Doom just sounds right !

Jesus Christ, Shaman are you serious Djimon Hounsou's not fierce anuff lol I'll take it you've never seen a little movie by the name of "Gladiator" haha or even "Blood Diamond" & Black Panther is cool, calm & collective most of the time, he's a f**kin' King,Kings don't act nuts.

I dont really like Namor, so I don't care...but Hugo has Namors face & the actting chops...& he's getting old, Duhamel is a rising star, but as much as I'd like to see an underwater superhero movie,I don't want to see any half-naked guy swimming around for an hour & a half.

Shaman, here's where you went wrong, I would love to cast a talented young asian actor in the role of Iron Fist but see Iron Fist is NOT asian lol I can't belive that just because Iron Fist use's Martial Arts that you think he is Asian. His real name is Danny Rand & he has blonde hair & blue eyes lol if I was Asian I might be upset with you ! I'm sorry but Statham is Iron Fist !
and yeah I actully thought Michaelangelo's acting was better then Robin Shou in TMNT !!

Elektra...trust me I don't want to see an Electra movie but Mendes is perfect she does comicbook movies, she is sassy like elektra should be played and shes thick, in the right places: what would you believe more getting attacked by one of those skinny no-name 90 pound girls you mentioned or getting round-house kicked by Eva Mendes ? OK I know they arn't no-name actors but Rhona Mitra's the only latino that you listed & Elektra's Latino she needs to be played by someone spicy.

Wentworth Millir is badass I don't care what Ghost Rider he is, he could be on a horse for all I care.

Buttler is Thor..I mean Buttler is a f**kin' beast & he can act I don't care what anyone says I can hear Buttler sreaming "FOR ASGARD"

It's hard to talk about someone as big as Cap or Spidey or Wolverine,'cause it's all one's perspective see where some people might look at Captain America as young & willing, I would like to see him as older & beat-up(but still givin' it)I'd like to see him like Batman in Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns you know all grizzle looking. He should represent america, he embodys it..like they (hollywood) might want to make the movie all squeaky clean, apple pie & baseball, but the states have done some f'd up things & the rest of the world looks at them diffrently now,its not the people, just the people in power(things will change with Obama in charge). So f**k doing the Orgin story as a whole movie, show some of it at the begining then get into now at day's like he's sick of the govenment's dirty tricks, but feels that he has to keep defending the country he loves.
Eckhart's perfect he can be dark but he can be holsome, and look he's got blonde hair, blue eyes & that super hero chin.that's Cap.

Shaman
Shaman - 1/30/2009, 8:54 AM
Believe me crush, i'm not trying to get any monopoly here. I normally successfully cast characters in the "majority's" interest but we can't please everyone. And i'm not perfect at all as i do make mistakes like i did in my spider-man and superman articles. Also like i did with Iron-Fist.

The reason i thought Iron Fist was asian is that i actually saw him in a comic (over like ten years ago)where i believe he took off his mask and looked very much like bruce lee. He was waring his green outfit and had his yellow mask in his hands and actually looked asian. It could have been a poser or a replacement or something like that i really don't recal but it was the first time i had picked up an iron fist comic. In fact i'm not even sure it was his comic but he was part of one. I of course had to "edit" my previous post or else we wouldn't have heard the end of it. Putting my obvious error aside, sorry to everybody, it would make Statham ideal for the part. I agree with that choice.

All the "developement" you mentionned about FF was included in the first FF movie which wasn't half bad. It wasn't fresh or original but it was good ol' FF for ya. It really didn't warrent a sequel though. The reason for the sequel was to incorporate Silver Surfer and Galactus in a hollywood movie and they miserably failed. I myself enjoyed Silver Surfer because i am a fan but i can obviously see how average movie goers didn't connect. And if you do look at any other FF project, the only development they brought is when Sue turned evil. Other than that it's always the same shtick and doesn't belong on the big screen. I said it once before i believe somewhere, the movie industry doesn't have any room for "not bad" movies. They need to be all great and surpass their predecessors. FF will always fall short in that department.

I like your take on Sue, having added that in your article, i probably wouldn't have mentionned anything about Bosworth. If she is played in that manner, it could bring a fresher take on her character. And Bosworth might be able to do it. I don't think it's that much of a monumental thing to play where as Lois Lane is a very very complex character.

And yes i saw Gladiator and in no way was he ever fierce in that movie. It's not because he fights with other gladiators that it makes him fierce, it's how he does it with facial expressions and movement. He ain't fierce but then again, i haven't seen "In America" or "Blood Diamond" yet. But Gladiator, Ahmistad and the trailer for Push didn't impress me at all in that department. Black Panther is a king for his people and remains cool as king (i'm not saying he should be fierce in front of his subjects or when he talks to his mother) but on the battle field as Black Panther he is supposed to be a fierce and fearless fighter, overwhelming his oponents with prowess. I just really don't see Hounsou pull that off naturally with ease... yet. If BP was the same "gladiator" but with a simple panther outfit on, it would suck ass and bomb at the box office. Best example of a suck ass BP is in the second animated movie of Ultimate Avengers.

Rhona Mitra pulls off a cold killer's kick ass attitude naturally which is manditory for Elektra's role where as Mendez has trouble convicingly ...acting. She sucks. And looks can be altered. Mendez's performances in 2 fast 2 furious as well as in Ghost Rider was horrible and bad enough to make me not want to see another movie with her in it. So i won't be watching The Spirit unless it's on tv and that there's nothing better playing at the same time.

I had Karl Urban down for Thor but Buttler would be great. I'd be a happy camper if one of them would get the role. As for Cap, dude, they have to start somewhere and that unfortunitally for you is with his origins. I do see your point about Eckhart but he'd be a good Cap 30 years after he thawed out. So depending how they do it, if he's frosen in the 40ies and thawed out in the 60ies, then Eckhart could be a great Cap. But we would be lacking major years of action and adventures here.

As for Reed, he's smarter than most because of all the knowledge he has but that in my book doesn't make him that "smart". For me, someone "smart" is someone that successfully envisions and realises inovations in which ever field is their specialty. And Reed always messes up and gets out smarted by others that don't necessarily have his "knowledge". Sure he'd be one of the best teachers in any university but when it actually comes down to using his knowledge for inventions, his trials mostly end up with errors. And that means that by my standards, he's a waste of intelect which means he's pointlessly smart, has no purpose but to fail which in laymen's terms means that he's an idiot and not smart at all. All the people i've listed above clearly surpass Reed in "smarts". I mean it doesn't matter which degree you have from which institution, if you can't use it in a successful manner, might as well just whipe your ass with it.

Bosworth, good idea.

Jake as Johnny, good, but not enough of a main roll for him.

Kevin James as Ben?!? Could work...

NOT Pepper as Reed, NOR Dolph Lundgren as Doom.

Aaron as Cap is a good idea, Hugo as Namor is also good.

Gerald as Thor is STELLER, and Eva as electra is a definate no, she could be someone, just not electra.
