Captain America is in desperate need of an actor knee deep in talent, looks, and voice...
John Krasinski is the ONLY man still on the short list with the level of talent to pull it off.

First imagine the voice of the Cap...
Do you hear a young man screaming through a face of prepubecent stubble after battling for hours with the dreaded Nazi's?
Then think of the stage...
Do you see youth in the eyes of Cap as he waves to a USO crowd despising his role in the endless publicity stint which won't allow him to fight, like he wants?
Now think of the chin...
The Cap HAS to have a big chin. It's like Superman's hair. It's a trademark. Only one of the actors still on the short list has everything needed to pull off all of the above...

John Krasinski.

I'm not a silly fanboy of the Office, but I am an obsessive fan of film. John has the aged eyes and the youthful face of a man who can pull off the shield.
He is capable of the acting job that is ahead for him... He HAS shown his ability to feed off other actors in the Office so theAVENGERS should be an easy adjustment. He has humor that is a must have in all of Marvel Universe (Wolverine, Iron Man, Hulk, Green Lantern..). And after looking at this list, it's obvious that, in an effort to bring in a quality character, the studio is leaning towards the dependable actors to bring out that memorable performance.
John has all of that.

Give him a crew cut and a trainer and we have a Captain America we can be proud of.

Give it to any of the other teen soap opera actors and we are headed for disapointment...

(All of this said, Jensen Ackles was still the best choice possible. Since he's gone, we'll keep with our beloved John.)

But seriously, JKras as Cap would no doubt disappoint too many people. It's just WAY too big a risk, and I doubt that the studios would want to do anything to really disappoint the fans. John would looks just downright silly and be a massive miscasting error.

I guess if they do choose him, it was for a reason. I just don't agree with the idea and feel that all casting choices that Marvel does should be ok'd by me. Is that too much to ask?

you are all IDIOTS, i guarantee you ALL were bitching about Heath Ledger being cast as The Joker in the Dark Knight (hell I did too) Krasinski is a capable actor (you really want a gossip girl f*ggot as Cap?) he HAS the look, just needs to bulk up, quite a bit. But hey, you can keep whining about it (if it does happen, nothing has even been announced)

Capable? I question that. He's decent in the office. His Krasinski's other two ventures I have seen (Leather Heads and Away We Go) miserable failures. He was terrible in those. As far as Ledger goes, I was thrilled when he was cast. I knew he was capable of owning that role, he'd already proven himself a strong actor before he was cast as the joker.

If Marvel choose to take Krasinski, they will have the most expensive CGI budgets for the movies. Why? Because they will put CGI everywhere to hide his goofy head!

On a more serious note, I'm sure Marvel will make the right decision. They seem to have done well so far... but casting Cap right is SO IMPORTANT! Please don't let us down Marvel. Please!

hope it aint krasinski. but been reading and searching alot on the net about the casting and stumbled on some articles that the mentioned names in the "short list" are not the only contenders.

this may explain wy its taking so long to hear who is cast.

If John gets the part he is going to need a body double for every scene! There is no time to bulk him up. They've left the casting so late that the only real option is to get someone whos at least half way to having the Cap body!

If Captain America is supposed to continuously looklike he was drawn by John Romita Jr. on crack in real life, then John Kransinski can be Cap. Kransinski is one of the most ridiculous choices I've heard. I can't believe people are seriously for this. I don't mean to sound stuck on looks, but he looks NOTHING like Steve Rogers. He doesn't have anything chiseled in his features. Not his jaw, not his chin. He has a round face and huge nose. He doesn't have the build or the look. No. Freaking. Way. And "The Office" should not be any kind of decent reasoning for Kransiki's acting ability. It's a comedy. It's funny, but it's a comedy. This is a ridiculous choice.

I don't see how any person who has any respect for Steve Rogers could suggest John Kransinski. He's the most ridiculous candidate. This HAS to be a joke, or this film is going to tick off a lot of people and Marvel needs this movie to be a success because it ties into Avengers.

Remember that Disney owns Marvel. If this list is correct, it's probably going to be Chace Crawford. He doesn't look like Steve either, but at least he's attractive.

i agree with the article in that his voice would be good and He could pass for a young man with a lot of experience. Really my only concern is the "look" but I can get over that. For one thing, His ears, they're gonna be covered up with the mask. As for his nose and jawline, that'd just be something we'd have to get over...IF he's chosen...

I think that hte only people who really want Krasinski are either a) extremely gullible b) Are office fans who love Krasinski c) actually think he's good for the role

And I hate it when people add this fake layers of acting experience to him. They try to compare him to Heath Ledger. News flash Heath was a amazing actor before the Dark Knight. He did serious roles, while Krasinski has ONLY done comedic roles. I'm anti-Krasinski like a majority of these people. Does marvel really want to piss off a majority of their fans just do they can cast Krasinski? I think not.

Krasinski isn't going to be wearing a mask the entire film and the mask isn't going to do anything for his nose. And no one has any evidence that Kransinski can do anything besides comedy. Hopefully this list is fake, but Kransinki is not a feasible choice. Krasinski doesn't even look up to par enough to be Peter Parker, and Peter is supposed to be average looking. And talking about his voice? I can't imagine Kransinski yelling "Avengers Assemble" without turning to face the camera. And how is Office to Avengers an easy adjustment. This article doesn't make any sense. This article acts like Krasinski is a defined actor like Dicaprio or Pitt, but he's just some funny guy from The Office.

Who is spreading these rumors? The Red Skull?

I can't believe how upset this rumored short list is making me, but Cap is one of if not my favorite character. I can't stand by and let him get rapped by John Kransinski.

I stopped taking these rumors seriously a while back.... disney would never rape us that bad by putting kransinski as cap. And i agree with gorgeousgeeks HOW THE HELL DOES ACTING IN THE OFFICE GIVE SOMEONE THE AUTHORITY AND EXPERIENCE TO DO CAPTIN AMERICA!!!!!!! I think they should have went with a well known but ill be happy with any good actor who can fit the part. and i saw leather heards he was horrible in it!!!

@ SandMan 101: Being in "The Office" doesn't give him the authority to be Cap, but his theater education is pretty extensive (according to Wikipedia) which is the only thing that makes me think that he could pull off a surprising performance at best... Still kind of wary, though.
