INT. pentagon briefing room-day
The PRESIDENT enters the briefing room and is met by GENERAL SAM LANE.
President:
What is it General Lane?
General Lane:
Mr. President, we have Intel that you may want to see.
PRESIDENT:
What do you have General?
General Lane directs the President's attention towards the screen. A video begins to play showing the daily routine of an astronaut in the space station. A shadow comes across the screen as the astronaut is killed. The space station is overrun by mysterious creatures.
PRESIDENT:
My God. Do we know what those things are General?
GENERAL LANE:
Not at the moment Mr. President, we do however believe they have a connection with the recent arrival of "The Superman" that has revealed himself in Metropolis.
As the General and President continue their conversation a woman enters the briefing room to intrude on the conversation. the woman is AMANDA WALLER.
Waller:
Those things are in no way connected to "The Superman" from Metropolis Mr. President.
PRESIDENT:
Who the hell are you? How did you get in here?
WALLER:
Mr. President I'm Dr. Amanda Waller. I work for you specializing in metahuman affairs, both worldly and outer worldly alike.
PRESIDENT:
What are you saying? I'm not aware of any metahuman department in the government.
GENERAL LANE:
I know you. You are the head of Checkmate. You were there leading the investigation into the alien crash outside of Coast City.
WALLER:
Correct General, i was working for Senator Hammond before his death. Month's after the Senator's death we began looking to the stars for signs of more life. We became intrigued by a planet that was lit so brightly, it was visible to the naked eye.
PRESIDENT:
What are you saying? That this planet is what destroyed the space station?
WALLER:
Yes Mr. President, we sent a probe out to reach this planet but when it got there we not only found an advanced alien civilization we found that they were hostile.
Amanda plays the last video transmission from the destroyed probe. An alien army is bring armed for war, one creature notices the probe.
Creature:
FOR DARKSEID.
The creature attacks the probe and the transmission.
PRESIDENT:
What is Darkseid?
WALLER:
We don't know.
PRESIDENT:
Well who the hell knows dammit.
WALLER:
We believe someone in Gotham might know.
EXT. Gotham City Rooftops-Night
Above the Gotham skyline Batman is being pursued by the Gotham City Swat Team while pursuing a suspect himself.
Swat Cop #1:
We have Batman in our sights. He is running after someone.
Commissioner Gordon (V.O.):
Man? Woman? What?
SWAT COP #1:
I can't tell. Face is covered sir.
COMMISSIONER GORDON (V.O.):
Is it one of them?
SWAT COP #1:
The way they are leaping twenty feet at a time? I'd say yes.
COMMISSIONER GORDON (V.O.):
Then bring them both down.
The swat team begin firing at Batman and the mysterious creature from pursuing helicopters. Batman jumps from one building to another.
batman:
Idiots.
Small rockets begin firing from under Batman's gauntlets, they create a smokescreen to blind the cops. The creature lands on the roof in front of Batman and looks back at him.
CREATURE:
RRK.
Batman recovers and shoots his grapple gun piercing the creature's calf.
CREATURE:
RRRRRRRRKKKKKKKKKK.
The creature tugs with enough power to pull Batman towards as Batman tackles it.
Both:
HNF!!!!!
BATMAN:
What were you doing at the docks? Talk before I--
An explosion triggers from the creature's chest and Batman crashes into a near by wall.
The creature stands and begins to battle Batman, creature punches Batman in the face.
BATMAN:
KKRRKKSSHH!!!
Batman is struck with enough force he is sent across the rooftop.
Creature closes in just as a bright green light begins to shine.
BATMAN:
What--?!
A green firetruck construct crushes the creature as Batman jumps out of the way of the firetruck. GREEN LANTERN arrives.
Green Lantern (Surprised):
Batman? You're real?
BATMAN:
And you're to damn bright. turn the light down before they see us.
GREEN LANTERN:
Before who sees us?
SWAT COP #1:
Put your hands in the air!
The swat team arrives and begins to open fire on Batman and Green Lantern.
Green Lantern creates two constructs of giant creatures holding shields to protect himself and Batman.
GREEN LANTERN:
Put my hands in the air? So they can just shoot me?
BATMAN:
Welcome to Gotham Green Lantern.
GREEN LANTERN:
They're wasting their bullets. This force field can stand up to anything.
BATMAN:
I've read about your conflicts with the air force out west so i know the drill.
GREEN LANTERN:
I know the drill too. They don't like us.
BATMAN:
The world is afraid of us.
GREEN LANTERN:
You say that like it's a good thing.
BATMAN:
It's necessary.
The creature attacks Green Lantern from behind.
GREEN LANTERN:
ARGH!!
The creature extends wings from it's back as it blasts the helicopters with a blast from it's mouth.
BATMAN:
Move.
GREEN LANTERN:
We don't need to. Green Lantern's got this.
Green Lantern creates three giant bat constructs that catch the helicopters and set them on an adjacent building.
The creature jumps from the building, as it falls it transforms into a giant alien spider as it makes it's way down a man hole.
GREEN LANTERN:
What is that? A transformer? It changed into some kind of weird alien spider.
BATMAN:
Take your flashlight and go home, Gotham is mine and Coast City is yours.
GREEN LANTERN:
No this entire space sector is mine.
BATMAN:
Space Sector?
GREEN LANTERN:
It's my beat. I'm not the only Green Lantern out there. There's thousands of others patrolling the universe. A whole corps.
BATMAN:
Uh Huh.
GREEN LANTERN:
I'm serious. I was alerted to an unauthorized extraterrestrial presence in Gotham.
BATMAN:
Extraterrestrial? Witnesses spotted this thing trying to plant some kind of bomb downtown. When the cops confronted it, it spewed fire from it's mouth.
GREEN LANTERN:
Yeah don't worry about the fires. I've got that under control too.
Four constructs of giant firefighters appear extinguishing the fires.
Batman and Green Lantern follow the creature down the man hole.
GREEN LANTERN:
Note to self Batman, Green Lantern can handle anything. What are your powers Batman? Can you fly?
Int.Gotham sewers-night
BATMAN:
No.
GREEN LANTERN:
Super Strength? Or telepathy?
BATMAN:
No.
GREEN LANTERN:
Hold on a second, you're not just some guy in a bat costume are you? Are you freaking kidding me?!
BATMAN:
Whats this do?
Green Lantern looks down at his hand as his suit fades away realizing Batman has taken his ring off.
GREEN LANTERN:
My ring? How'd you get it off?
BATMAN:
I don't see any buttons so I'm guessing it works concentration. You weren't concentrating.
GREEN LANTERN:
You won't do that again.
BATMAN:
Not unless i want to.
GREEN LANTERN:
Do u really want to pick a fight with a guy who can create anything he can think of?
BATMAN:
I'd be worried if i thought you could think.
GREEN LANTERN:
You're about to see exactly what's on my mind.
BATMAN:
Quiet.
GREEN LANTERN:
What are you?!
Batman points towards the creature as it begins drilling something into the wall.
Object:
Ping!!!
GREEN LANTERN:
Did you hear that? If it's a bomb he just armed it!
Green Lantern charges in attempting to disarm the bomb.
BATMAN:
Lantern wait--!
CREATURE:
For Darkseid!!!!!!!!
There creature explodes attempting to take both heroes with it. The fire settles as a bright emerald green is shining.
Green Lantern has constructed a giant safe protecting himself and Batman from the explosion.
GREEN LANTERN:
Dark side? What is that a band?
BATMAN:
It sounded like a death cry.
GREEN LANTERN:
It combusted into fire.
BATMAN:
But it did it on purpose.
GREEN LANTERN:
How do you know that?
BATMAN:
It was trying to incinerate us with it.
GREEN LANTERN:
Whatever this thing came here to do, it did it. Ring scan and identify.
Ring:
Unable to identify.
GREEN LANTERN:
Unable to Identify?! That's impossible, this ring knows what the guardians know and they know everything.
BATMAN:
It doesn't look like a bomb. It looks like some kind of alien computer.
GREEN LANTERN:
Alien? maybe it's connected to that guy out in metropolis.
BATMAN:
Superman?
GREEN LANTERN:
They say he's an alien.
BATMAN:
He is. and he's dangerous.
GREEN LANTERN:
You've met Superman?
BATMAN:
No. I've researched him and his power level after his battle with Zod.
GREEN LANTERN:
He won't be a problem for me. Come on Bats.
Green Lantern makes a jet construct as he and Batman fly to Metropolis.
Ext.Metropolis- Night
The heroes arrive in Metropolis in search of Superman.
BATMAN:
You flew us to Metropolis in a glowing green jet. Very Subtle.
GREEN LANTERN:
You can't fly so how else were we going to get here? And why do you talk in a deep voice?
BATMAN:
You should have gotten here with subtlety. You might as well have put a giant target on us.
GREEN LANTERN:
Relax bats, We'll be gone before they even know we are here. My ring led us right to an alien.
The heroes notice a giant hole in a wall as if a battle had taken place here earlier.
GREEN LANTERN:
Superman is in there.
BATMAN:
Lantern, it looks as if a fight has taken place here.
Green lantern creates a construct around Batman.
BATMAN:
Lantern?!
GREEN LANTERN:
Okay bat's here's the plan. Green Lantern goes in and restrains Superman for questioning. Batman waits here and behaves like a good little bat. I can handle this.
As Green lantern enters the building a red and blue blur bursts from the hole in the wall and punches Green Lantern into a nearby car. The group has met SUPERMAN.
Superman:
I don't handle easy.
Using his super speed Superman grabs Batman and slams him against a wall.
SUPERMAN:
What do you want with me?
BATMAN (struggling):
We need your help against a coming darkness.
SUPERMAN:
The last time humans came looking for me they wanted to study me. I could snap your neck if i choose to so I'll ask again, why did you come here?
BATMAN:
I need to build a team of heroes to stand against a powerful force coming to earth.
Green Lantern recovers from being thrown into the cars.
GREEN LANTERN:
Alright boyscout, let's rumble.
Lantern blasts Superman.
Superman drops Batman and engages Green Lantern, the ground underneath him crumbles as he takes flight.
Lantern creates walls trying to keep Superman at a distance.
Superman smashes through the constructs.
Lantern creates a volley of missile constructs and tries to blast superman out of the sky.
Superman destroys the missiles with heat vision. Catches the last missile and throws it back at Lantern.
Lantern creates armor around his body to protect him from the missile. ( Allen Scott's armor from kingdom come).
Missile hits and Lantern flies backwards, recovers and creates a horse and new armor as he goes head to head jousting against Superman. (Kyle's construct against Silver Surfer).
From Batman's P.O.V. both fighters crash to the ground as the impact causes the earth to tremble. After seeing the display of power Batman realizes they may stand a chance.
The creature Superman fought earlier returns.
CREATURE:
For Darkseid!!!!!!
Batman charges towards the creature and flips over the monster, as he flips he sticks explosives on the creature as he detonates the explosives destroying the creature.
GREEN LANTERN (SURPRISED):
Way to go Bats.
The trio decide to leave the area before authorities show up, the trio head to the batcave.
int.throne room- night
A hooded figure heads towards a shadowy figure sitting on a throne surrounded by fire. This is DESAAD.
Dessad:
My lord, Queen Heggra is no more. You are now the supreme ruler of Apokolips.
????:
And what of the parademons dispatched to earth to recover the equation?
DESSAD:
Defeated my lord. It seems superhumans from the planet have taken a stand against our forces.
????:
And what of this "Superman"?
DESSAD:
Your assumptions have proven correct my lord, Superman is indeed the last son of krypton. He is the son of Jor-El.
????:
Good, he will fall. Super or otherwise he is merely a man and I am a god.
The shadowy figure's eyes begin to glow as Dessad exits the room.
int. batcave-night
The group arrive at the Bat cave, Batman heads to his computer and begins pulling up images on screen.
BATMAN:
I've been tracking these creatures, they've been appearing all over the planet.
Superman uses his X-ray vision but can't see through Batman's cowl.
SUPERMAN:
Your mask.....
BATMAN(interrupting):
Is lined with lead. It's the only substance you can't see through. Isn't that right Clark?
SUPERMAN:
You know who i am?
BATMAN:
I've been monitoring you since your battle against Zod. I had to measure your power, it was after your battle that i became aware of the creatures.
GREEN LANTERN:
Why are we here?
BATMAN:
I've been studying other heroes, we need to build a team.
Using Wayne-tech satellites Batman brings up images on his screen.
An Amazon Warrior fighting an army of bestimorphs.
An Atlantean King protecting his kingdom from a massive sea creature.
A Scarlet Flash stopping a bank robbery.
A Detective stopping a hostage situation.
SUPERMAN:
Who are these people?
BATMAN:
The king of Atlantis, an amazon princess, the fastest man alive and the world most powerful telepath. If we can recruit them we have a chance against Darkseid's invasion.
GREEN LANTERN:
Why would he invade Earth?
BATMAN:
Not sure yet, must want something we have, something he wants.
SUPERMAN:
We'll stop him.
BATMAN:
We better, I've also been keeping tabs on General Lane and Dr. Waller, they are aware of the situation.
GREEN LANTERN:
Where should we start first?
Batman uses his computer to transfer coordinates to a portable tracker.
BATMAN:
Central City is closest, we'll start there.
The group sets out to begin recruiting.
ext. central city-day
The group arrives in Central City outside of jitters coffee shop on the corner of Nolan and Snyder while a cop attempts to keep citizens off the streets.
cop:
Everyone stay back, the thieves are coming this way, hopefully The Flash catches them.
A car speeds by and is followed by a scarlet and gold flash. We meet THE FLASH.
Flash:
Pull over.
The bank robbers begin firing at the Flash at close range.
Flash dodges the bullets.
Flash punches one of the robbers and knocks him out.
FLASH:
One more time, pull over.
The car speeds off an exit ramp that is under construction.
FLASH:
Not exactly what i had in mind.
A child in a construction hat looks upwards at the plummeting car.
Flash speeds up and throws himself off the exit ramp towards the car.
Flash grabs both the robbers and drops them in wet cement and dismantles the car before bursting through the debris.
Construction workers move as the debris begins to fall, a steering wheel falls towards the child as Flash closes in and catches the steering wheel.
kid:
Whoa.
FLASH:
Hey kid, name's Flash nice to meet ya.
Flash takes off and heads towards Central City police station.
int. Police Station-day
Barry:
Excuse me, sorry.
Commissioner:
You're late Allen.
BARRY:
Traffics heavier then I remember.
COMMISSIONER:
That's because Central City's population has tripled while you were gone.
BARRY:
That's good?
COMMISSIONER:
That's bad. Crime rate has quadrupled, every department is stretched as thin as my paycheck and patience, oh you have guests in your office.
Barry heads into his office and is confronted by Bruce, Clark and Hal.
Clark:
Hello Mr. Allen, we would like to speak with you; I'm Mr. Kent--
BARRY:
I know who you are Mr. Kent, what i don't know is why a reporter, a pilot and a billionaire are sitting in an office they can barely fit in.
Hal:
We need your help.
BARRY:
Really? With what?
bruce:
We know who you are Barry.
BARRY:
And what might that be Mr. Wayne?
BRUCE:
You're The Flash.
BARRY:
That's the first time I've heard that, you should try stand up Mr. Wayne.
Clark uses X-ray vision on a ring on Barry's finger.
CLARK:
Your ring is really unique Mr. Allen.
BARRY:
Just a normal class ring, nothing unique about it.
CLARK:
Not that ring Mr. Allen, do you always keep spare clothes inside a ring with special gas that shrinks it or is that something else?
BARRY:
What do you want?
HAL:
Told ya, we need your help matchstick.
bruce:
Meet us at this location tonight Mr.Allen, and dress for the occasion.
The group leave as Barry studies the note left on his desk by Bruce.
INT. BATCAVE-NIGHT
As the Flash arrive Batman is seen on the computer talking to fellow heroes Blue Beetle and Green Arrow.
Arrow:
Have you taken them yet Batman?
BATMAN:
Not yet Arrow, we need to be stronger first.
Flash interrupts and Batman ends transmission.
FLASH:
Batman, why have you called me here?
Batman glides down a level to face Flash.
Batman signals both Superman and Green Lantern to join them.
BATMAN:
When i first began tracking the transmissions I began to contact others, Oliver Queen and Ted Kord, codemanes Green Arrow and Blue Beetle. We began to fund a secret project we listed as building satellites for the military.
Batman turns the heroes attention to an image on his computer of a satellite under construction.
BATMAN:
We call it Watchtower, from here we can monitor every conflict on and outside of Earth and respond accordingly.
