The Spectacular Spider-Man movie series fan-cast part 1

The Spectacular Spider-Man movie series fan-cast part 1

This is the fan-cast I have chosen for a saga of 6 Spider-Man films that I would love to have planned. My first actual article, so interested in seeing how this goes.

The series would feature many of my favorite comic book storylines that are both famous and crucial to the Spidey lore. Spider-Man is my favorite character ever, and I have put plenty of thought into this movie series and how the story of Peter Parker would pan out over a course of these films. I've outlined the script for the first movie so far, and I just recently started the actual script.

SPIDER-MAN/PETER PARKER- Reece Thompson (featured in movies: 1,2,3,4,5,6)

I feel that Reece Thompson is a suitable choice for the role because after seeing him in 'Assassination of a High School President', I see that he can mesh together the social awkwardness and the slight short temperedness that Peter tends to embody. Adding in his own forms of sarcasm to the mix would be great for moments while in costume. And I personally thinks that he pulls off the look of Peter Parker, which is always a plus.

MARY JANE WATSON- Olivia Wilde (featured in movies 1,2,3,4,5,6)

The plan is to have Mary Jane be the way she was in the 616 comics-- hip, carefree, all in for a good time.... or at least make herself appear that way on the outside to hide her personal pain. She'll find herself having a special connection to Peter for this, because when it comes down to it, they are not that different, and they unknowingly relate to each other. Olivia Wilde is a gorgeous actress, and I have faith that her acting skills would do Mary Jane's freestyle and core traits justice.

GREEN GOBLIN II/ HARRY OSBORN- Dustin Milligan (featured in movies 1,2,3,4,5,6)

As Peter's closest friend, it will show the tragic story on how these two best pals become arch rivals. Yes, this will in fact show some of the earlier storylines on Harry's drug abuse, and ultimately his fall from the top, showing the paths of his and Peter's distancing further and further. Dustin Milligan has shown his acting talent is in the ranks well enough to tell that he can successfully pull off completely opposite roles. The role of Harry Osborn would be good for him to get a better footing in fame while showing how well he can act through a great deal of character development.

GWEN STACY- Amber Heard (featured in movies 1,2,3)

Gwen will be the main love interest for the first 3 movies--until her death. I feel that the romance between Gwen and Peter has to be different than Mary Jane and Peter so that it doesn't essentially feel like she's just being replaced after her death. Peter and Gwen's relationship forms over the course of the 1st movie. It is meant to be significantly smaller in scale than that of Raimi or Webb's movies. This relationship will form ONLY through Peter Parker. This first film's theme will resolve around Peter being forced to balance his duo life, she will have no recollection that Peter and Spidey have anything to do with each other. So the Gwen/Peter story will very much revolve on real world relationship start offs and trials, while over its course, will escalate into a battle of Spider-Man and the Green Goblin that will end her life. Amber Heard is an actress who I feel has not received any roles that show off the full extent of her talent. A role that is more subtle, emotional, and deeper can show us the goods behind the pretty face.

AUNT MAY- Helen Mirren (featured in films 1,2,3,4,5,6)

In this series, Aunt May will be a little bit more like her incarnation of Ultimate Aunt May, and her more recent versions of 616 Aunt May. She'll have plenty to do out in the city as a senior citizen, and there will certainly be scenes that revolve on her character alone. She'll be active, and will try not to let her age slow her down, her relationship with Peter solidifies as the series progresses. Helen Mirren is a great actress and would be an awesome choice for the role.

UNCLE BEN- Bruce Boxleitner (featured in movies 1,2,3,4,5,6)

Bruce Boxleitner would be great for this role, seeing him in the beginning scene of Tron:Legacy convinced me of this. A spin on these movies that I would like to pursue is having Uncle Ben present in all of the movies as the embodiment of Peter's own inner thoughts. When he's thinking to himself, he will begin talking with an imaginary Uncle Ben. It'll be much like how Harry is to Dexter in the show 'Dexter'. So given this, Bruce Boxleitner would be present in the movies quite more often, and his 'lectures' to Peter will be his main role in the form of Uncle Ben from the Ultimate comics.

J. JONAH JAMESON- Hugh Laurie (featured in movies 1,2,3,4,5,6)

I know this is a common choice for Hugh Laurie to play Jameson, but I just think that he would bring some really good humor to the series at the Daily Bugle. The Daily Bugle scenes would for the most part provide comic relief, and the way I would want to imagine it would be like a more mature and more professional Dunder Mifflin from 'The Office'. It won't be nearly as outrageous, but just enough to be comedic and garner up laughs.

BETTY BRANT- Zooey Deschanel (featured in movies 1,2,3,4,5,6)

Yeah, I know she's a common fan-cast too. But I don't really see there being a better choice for the role.

JOE 'ROBBIE' ROBERTSON- Dennis Haysbert (featured in movies 1,2,3,4,5,6)

I think that Haysbert would make none other than a fantastic Robbie. It would be great to see his Robertson combat Laurie's Jameson in arguments, only to have their feuds end in them asking if the other would like to go out to dinner after work. Robertson is respectable, focused and can be caught being laid back from time to time. Dennis Haysbert portrays all of these.

That's the first part of my fan-cast so far. The second and third parts will be posted soon. Please leave feedback to tell me what you think, thanks guys.

Is this for an adult Spider-Man cast. Because Olivia Wilde and Dustin Milligan are 2 years from being 30, and they've pretty much kicked teen roles out the door. And you should post an entire cast one page, why split it in three?

Other that that, the rest of the roles are good. I've got a Spider-Man cast (the adult years) that I'm cooking up.

@RoadDog, yeah I'll probably end up having the rest of the cast be all in the second part.

@jarydevan, yeah sure no problem, if it's important to you. I actually saw Assassination of a High School President to see what his acting was like because I hadn't heard of him before I saw your post. thanks for the feedback.

Nice fancast! Love your picks for Ben, May, Jonah, and Betty.

But I do agree, Wilde is a bit too old for MJ. And I personally would love to see Amber Heard as Felicia Hardy.
