Random MCU thoughts
I don’t see how Thor 2, Captain America 2, and Iron Man 3 happen without a rift happening with the team, doesn’t have to be like Civil War but big enough for them each to quit.

Cosmic cube links together the MCU and is the driving force. This SHOULD mean that we get Loki/Skrulls and possible the Red Skull in the Avengers, however I think if Red Skull is in it they are either keeping it a HUGE secret or he’ll be the after credits. I can also see HYDRA being reformed in some way.
Black Widow should turn out to be a traitor like in the comics as an interesting story line. Build the relationship between her and Hawkeye and leave it up to him whether or not he’ll betray the avengers. Widow should also be a part of HYDRA to keep it simple. An easy explanation would be that HYDRA recruits the best and lost its NAZI affiliation after the war, and with Skull’s departure took a more Communist route under Zemo. Zemo could be a rich former East German Communist who revives HYDRA 20 year after the fall of the USSR hoping to bring it back, with the help of Black Widow.

In CA: TFA it is insinuated that Bucky has been tortured or experimented on in some way by HYDRA, which obviously leads to Winter Soldier. This doesn’t mean that it should be Russian Communists finding and reviving him, let HYDRA do that and keep them as the main villains, able to team up with others through the MCU. Winter Soldier should be revealed only in Captain America 2 and should not be shown without his mask until the very end. Winter Soldier and Black Widow should be romantically involved making it difficult for him to kill her at the end.

Sam Jackson is 63, so Fury is about the same age. As a 30ish year old officer he could meet a 50ish year old Stark prior to Vietnam and work with him on weaponry. They then revive the SSR and turn it into SHIELD, using the transformation of the OSS into the CIA as a blueprint. Stark creates Fury’s flying car and blueprints for a Hellicarrier using the same technology.
Howard Stark looked to be late 20s/early 30s so he would have been father in his mid 50s when Tony is born. Which makes sense when the actor who played Howard in Iron Man 2 is just turning 50, and was addressing tony around 1974 in the video.

I don't understand why they can't have their own sequels without a Civil War type event happening?

Nice article with some great thoughts.

Think you maybe being slightly ahead of yourself with some of The Avengers plot ideas though. However I am sure there will be a lot of trust issues with several characters (not just the Black Widow) in the film.

I actually am worried for Banner. He has no sequel planned - an unrelated TV series in pre-production - and Whedon has a habit of killing off beloved characters.

Doesn't look good!! :oP

Anyway you maybe interested in this, a MCU timeline. Admittedly a work in progress and I already want to make some changes to it but shows how several things a slotting together.

@CDB

"I don't understand why they can't have their own sequels without a Civil War type event happening?"

I'm guessing it could be seen as a plot device to stop them all hooking up everytime something kicks off. That way Ironman, Thor and Cap can have their own seperate films without the danger of them picking up the phone to each other whenever the shit hits the fan.

They have seperate comics outside of the Avengers comics, so why can't their movies be the same?

Their was a rumored plot description stating that the team break up at the end of The Avengers because they can't stand each other.

Personally, I imagine IM3 or Thor 2 being about their solo missions: Thor deals w/ Asgardian threats & IM deals w/ the Ten Rings.

Civil War would be cool to see on the silver screen one day, but it's nothing w/o F4 and X-Men.

A Captain America sequel might be hard to pull off what with the way the first film ended. And as far as I'm concerned there's no way for him to go back to the 1940's not to mention it wouldn't make sense. Red Skull is "gone" too. Won't work on film, comics yes, but film definitely not.Thor, maybe. Iron Man, yes. Iron Man still has to battle the Mandarin and Thor can deal with Loki or Enchantress or whatever. As for Cap, I just can't see a sequel working. Maybe after Avengers that'll change.

@Moonwalker1991.."A Captain America sequel might be hard to pull off what with the way the first film ended"

I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY NOT..IT ENDED HOW IT SHOULD..HIM WAKING UP YEARS LATER CONFUSED.

THE BOOKEND EVENT OF CAP LEADS TO THE AVENGERS..

RED SKULL IS MOST LIKLEY IN A DIFF REALM..THE CUBE WARPED HIM

CAP HAS OTHER POTENTIAL ENEMIES..MAYBE BUCKY WILL COME BACK AS WINTER SOLDIER..HYDRA, BARON STRUCKER

THE WRITERS FOR THE CAP MOVIE ALREADY HAVE SAID THEY MAY DO FLASHBACKS THERE ARE OTHER THINGS THAT MAY HAVE HAPPENED..THEY ONLY SHOWED CAP AND HIS FORCES TAKE DOWN ONE HYDRA BASE THEY NEVER ACTUALLY SHOWED HOW THEY TOOK THE REST DOWN..MAYBE ZEMO RAN A HYDRA BASE..

THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX...CAP SEQUALS ARE CLEAR TO ME..LOL

@ despero

the F4 didn't and X-Men didn't really have ANYTHING to do with Civil War. Iron Man told the X-Men that as long as they stayed out of it, no mutants would be forced to register, so the X-Men stayed out of it.

As for the F4, Reed was on Stark's team, Susan went to Atlantis to avoid it, and Thing went to Europe to avoid it. Johnny Storm was in a coma the whole time. lol

@CorndogBurglar

That may be so, but what would be the point of a Civil War crossover if the X-Men and Fantastic Four did not exist within the MCU? Would Marvel have enough superhumans to fill that void? If Marvel's characters are all apart of The Avengers why would the Government seek registration? What threat do these superhumans pose if they're all working on the same side? Marvel's current and proposed future lineup of heroes do not warrant Civil War. The X-men and Fantastic Four play an integral part in the debate of opinion on the matter!

Umm in a Universe where all superhuman are either dead or already working for the government then basically the whole idea for Civil Wars is mute... it aint gonna happen so get over the idea..
