What If...Lord of the Rings {Black Fan Cast}

We all love the Lord of the Rings series, but one thing many people seem to notice is that there is NO black people. What would the cast be like if the Fellowship was black? Take a look!

This idea came to me as I was watching a few movies today, and I decided to make my own fan cast. Lord of the Rings movies are some of my favorite movies, so I was having a great time messing around trying to figure out a decent cast. A few of the characters were very hard to figure out (mainly Sam and Merry), but I had fun making this cast!

The Fellowship:
Chadwick Boseman as Frodo Baggins:

This great new actor has proved that he can take on a lead role, filled with drama and tension.

Will Smith as Sam Gamgee:

At first I considered Will Smith for Merry, but I didn't think having another VERY popular comedian would of been good. Will has proven he can do funny, but very serious roles as well.

Tyrese Gibson as Merry Brandybuck:

Tyrese is a really great actor that gets into his roles the minute he gets them. I am positive he can play a serious role when he needs to, but play off of Marlon (Pippin) as well.

Marlon Wayans as Pippin Took:

Pippin is a very comedic character, especially when you put Merry in the mix with him. I chose Marlon because I find him to be a pretty decent actor, but a great comedian.

Morgan Freeman as Gandalf:

Morgan Freeman can play a tree and still be amazing, this needs no explanation.

Anthony Mackie as Legolas Greenleaf:

Anthony Mackie is one of my favorite 'new' actors. He has proven he can be very 'badass' as well as serious.

Jamie Foxx as Aragorn:

Jamie Foxx is very dedicated with his roles, and I believe he would be able to pull off an amazing Aragorn due to his journey, and as we saw Foxx in Django Unchained, Foxx can pull off a characters' journey very well.

Chad L. Coleman as Gimli:

Chad L. Coleman has that hasty side to him, as well as being a good person, just like Gimli. I believe he would be a great addition as he is also very muscular, and dwarves are big.

Idris Elba as Boromir:

Idris Elba is a great actor, and a very serious one. Boromir is a very serious character with a suspicious attitude to him, and I think Idris could very well pull that off.

Thanks for the comment! And yeah, Sam was the hardest one for me to cast, and I just put WIll Smith there. And I like your suggestions for the other characters, they are awesome. In this one, I was just mainly focused on the Fellowship. And yeah, I like Sammy Jackson, but he doesn't need to be in every movie that has a black guy in it haha.

Only reasonable two I can think of are Don Cheadle and Wesley Snipes.
