Michael B. Jordan Reacts to Human Torch Controversy

For a long time it was thought that Jordan's involvement in Josh Trank's Fantastic Four was just speculation. That was until this week when it was all confirmed. TMZ actually caught up with the new Human Torch and asked him about his thoughts of fans not buying into a Black actor playing a White comic-book character. Jordan nonchalantly said, “Nah, they're still going to go see it anyway”.




Sounds like he isn't worried at all and in fact quite poised. Any thoughts on the reboot or Jordan's role in particular?


The Fantastic Four (2014) is a reboot of the Marvel property centered on four astronauts who gain superpowers after cosmic radiation exposure.

He is right that no matter who is in the movie Fantastic 4 will fill seats, even though not as big as Avengers or Batman, still filling seats. Also good find,man.

its true they will. i don't get the hate for Jordan as johnny,how will his character truly be different if he's black? oh yeah nothing, so sure the change may be unnecessary as i doubt him being black will be a big part of the story, but its nothing to get mad over, just accept it, the guys a great actor anyway, im sure he will knock it out of the park.

Probably not the best response. I'm not doubting but just think about Affleck and his response to critics. He didn't say people will pay just to see him. Jordan should have gone the humble route. He turned the flame on himself if you catch my drift.

I'm actually kinda pumped for this movie. We already know the "fantastic four hate brigade" is gonna shit on this movie no matter what, so [frick] them. Just make the best F4 movie you can Josh Trank.

It's tragic that Fox owns rights to FF & X-Men,need Marvel Studios to produce all Marvel characters in movies.

100% guarantee they would not cast black guy as Human Torch & small skinny guy at Ben Grimm.

Why...because Johnny is white & Ben is a big guy. Do it right or not at all!!

@Pheezmatic The quality is awful when the movie is released, you have to wait until the DVD is out to find the movie at good quality. But who can wait until then?? Not many. And that's why we are all going and giving them our money, even if their movies suck.

While I don't believe that marvel would just be better off making ALL their own movies at MS, I do however believe that FF is the only franchise property that should be back at marvel. The characters just fit better there and would coexist so much better with what MS is doing... plus Fox is so clueless on how to translate these franchises properly... especially FF... And with the way they are handling this movie,on the 11th hour (cuz basically they could not make this movie and things would turn out better), just further process that they don't deserve my money.

I can explain that Heimdall is such a small & fairly unknown character it didn't matter.
Human Torch & The Thing are incredibly important Marvel characters that need to be done right.
Jordan is good guy,he should do something else.

This has nothing to do with race,if so where are the Latino actors in superhero roles?
There is a very large Latino population in the U.S.
Jessica Alba was Sue but she's not a full Latina.

Trying to be politically correct is b.s. I want the cast to reflect the comics I read for years.
Fox sucks.

@TheDarkPhoenix ...I agree with you that I probably won't be able to wait to see it, hence piratebay... But my first watch won't be for chi quality or action sequences or anything like that.. It'll be strictly for the writing and plot and just to see who and what they got right and who and what they got wrong...... I'm sure after that I'll catch it on Netflix or something to see if i enjoy it anymore, I guess

Human Torch is waaaaaay more prominent & making him black or any other race is weak.
I wouldn't mind Ben Grimm as a black guy because that doesn't affect his character.

Johnny & Sue are white siblings..Sue is romantically linked with white guy Reed,why mess with that dynamic?
This casting is pandering & is senseless.
